the relationship between horror and misogyny is intriguing and confusing to me bc the ultimate goal with some of these movies is to treat misogyny as horrifying while simultaneously. being the genre that brutalizes women and treats their reactions to the horrible things done to them as a source of horror

I think a lot about this Hawaiian place I frequented as a kid that changed hands a long time ago and then put a massive jesus mural on the wall that says “Jesus opens every door”, right next to their bathroom which is locked with a passcode and reserved for paying customers only.

Thinking about this. So many people in the US are adult children

#there’s a lot of pretention in the art community it’s true #but this is my exact experience in my storyboarding class this semester #at the start of the year i overheard this girl boasting about how she just liked ‘super twisted and fucked up stuff thats super obscure’#and then the people talking to her were like ‘oh like what?’#and she genuinely answered ‘like coraline and monster house.’ and then proceeded to list exclusively children’s movies.#‘like stuff only weirdos watch’#unfortunately she was not being sarcastic #and they always go on rants about how they don’t like media that portrays taboo subject of any kind #yupp i’m telling you perfect blue would kill these people #i need to get out of here

ALSO something I saw that came up on a community post(?) on here many months ago was someone talking about how their parents hated how Vocaloid sounded and didn’t know what to do. I felt a strong urge to chime in because my parents said the same thing to me when I first got into Vocaloid at age 8. Same complaints about it being “screech-y” or ear-bleeding, or whatever version of the words… I was also bullied at school a lot for really liking it when no one else knew what it was. Now I’m 22 and my parents got used to it, and I see Vocaloid everywhere when I go out. Don’t take crap from anyone about Vocaloid! Miku is forever!

i just want you all to know that i found out at the start of the year that youtube had been awarding me various “top listener of they might be giants” badges almost monthly for two years, and now i expect it at the start of the month like it’s a paycheck.

Btw I am actually working on an animatic that had been festering in my head for a couple years depicting Caroline’s backstory to the song Soft Love by the Symposium for an animation final. I probably won’t ever upload it but I hope you can see the vision.
