From his work as the Channel 56 sports anchor, calling Celtics games and ultimately as THE voice of the New England Patriots Radio Network, Gil Santos was one of the vices of my fandom, of Boston sports, of some of my happiest memories. His call in Super Bowl 36 of Vinatieri’s game winning 48 yarder will always be my favorite. Always. Chills, the best kind. Gil was a local treasure and an absolute legend. Rest in peace, and thanks for setting the scene, telling the tale and describing our memories.
