School Year In the New Normal
And so I have reached my 6th year of teaching but this school year is the year of many firsts. We begun the S.Y. 2020-2021 last October 24 despite all the controversies of opening school while we are still going through the Covid-19 virus pandemic. Fast forward, we are now plowing through the second quarter and so far, we are doing well and adjusting as we push each week. After four years, I am finally back on being an adviser (per my request) and enjoying it because it means that I get to have less “sugo” and more work on as an adviser over and above my library chores. :)

Finslly, after more than a year, I am back on tumblr. For a refresher, I am trying to see how the android app works.
END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR
The school year has finally ended.
It is also officially summer and as a teacher, it is our privilege to be off from school as well. When I left school last March 31, I made sure that school clearance is done (which leaves Mdm Principal the last one to sign). Sectioning for Grade 8 was done the week before as well as the CVPAST and RPAST and the school targets.
Clearance
Medical clearance will be on April 30 but we are to make sure that we will be bringing the result of our UA and chest x-ray.
There really wasn't that much work to do except that I wasn't prepared, physically prepared for that matter, in writing down the grades in the form 137 and 138. It was tedious work and my fingers went numb for a week.
If i am to be an adviser again, I guess I'll prepare the attendances ahead. And write the form 137 more carefully.
There are new forms introduced to us and so it won't be not that difficult now. My only concern is about our next school head. Although our principal has some flaws on her own, having her around is a bit comfortable as she is the one who hired me. Another principal means new rules, new work ethics and strategies. I have not tired to be observed and I just have this mighty feeling that the start of the school year would be my turn.
Work Load
I am sure that my work load still includes MAPEH and English and I just wish MAPEH would be divided amongst us and I'll just be teaching Arts. Fingers crossed.
MAPEH isn't really difficult but it is just that the preparations are so tiresome most especially that we don't have the needed equipment like the audio-visual ones.
I was forced to bring my own TV and DVD player so I could show them some films in Health and PE classes.
With only one projector in school, it is not achievable to even make a power point presentation to the class. ;( Sadly, but I guess I am becoming a real friend to the manila papers and marking pens.
ENGLISH FINAL REQUIREMENT
For our final requirement in English for Grade 7 and 8, we asked them to present a tableau of the different Philippine epics and for the Grade 8, Ramayana.
We were amazed by the effort that each student exerted in making their presentations a wonderful one.
NOTE TO SELF
Because I didn't spend enough time updating this..here I am, trying my best to collate all the activities for my very first school year. :)
Well, better late than never.

My first ever graduation attendance on the school's 9th Commencement Exercises.
Goodbye to my first ever set of students. Being an adviser has been a very arduous and tasking job but through it all, I learned a lot.

The Observation
When Mdm Leader announced that she will be starting to do observations, the very first thing that came to mind is that I SHOULD BE MORE DILIGENT IN MY PREPARATIONS.
Will have to start writing down my class objectives and as much as possible, an outline and written materials for all my class activities. She says it will start come November 5 and yessssSsss, I know being a new teacher means that I am on the Hot List.
Our first day of Inset was really boring and fighting off sleepiness was such a challenge. We just shared thoughts and reviewed the appraisal forms and then another form for our mid-year evaluation.
Government docs. You know, those kind of stuffs.
Butterflies is my tummy. I'll be giving a report about my coming observation, for now, I'd be getting enough sleep for tomorrow's 2nd Day of INSET.
Till the next post.
My very first ELECTION DAY where I served as third member.
It was a very nice experience--no challenges, only a few voters, no clutter. Generally peaceful and was one of the first few to finish, transmit to the BOC and deliver the ballots back to the Comelec.
At around 8pm, I was already jogging my way home.
Scene two days before election... teachers queue to get the materials and papers needed for the big day. No proper system. Tsk! Stressful!
Comelec briefing at the Mandaue City Sports Complex. We all came late because we thought that the event was cancelled.
During our INSET today, Mdm Leader cleared her name regarding the miscommunication and to whose responsibility it was to inform the teachers re:sched. She said that it should be the work of the Supervising principal.
Whatever!.
COMELEC BRIEFING
I had my very first Comelec briefing this morning. We all thought that it was cancelled (just like the seminar that we are supposed to attend this weekend). I'd be serving precinct 448 in Tabok 1 ES along with Emily as our chairman and Jen as poll clerk. I'll do the job for the third member.
We filled out our oath of office, listened to what the handbook says and then was given lunch and checked the names of voters in our precinct.
There was no announcement regarding the postponement of election date especially that a lot of classrooms cannot be used. In Mandaue Central School alone, 29 classrooms are now uninhabitable. ;(
TBA for now.
Will just busy myself with the grades while waiting for the 2nd PT.
A day after the 7.2 earthquake, we all came to school despite the aftershocks. Our school did not suffer any damages. The teachers initially checked the classrooms. In mine, there wasn't any damage or things that fell.
October 15, 2013 is indeed a very historic date for us especially for the Cebuanos and Boholanos. ;(
