Thank You for taking the time!
When They See Us
Twenty four years and I’ve never been arrested
I’ve spent all my life as a law abiding citizen and I’ve never even tested
Never skirted the law, nope, never even bent it
When I told that man that I’ve never so much as jay walked, damn straight I meant it
See cause the devil’s in the details is just a bold faced lie
Cause when you have the power to tell the story, build the narrative, well you get to decide
No script to sell, the world is the one you create, cause when the badge is on your chest, It makes no difference
You can simply say you gave it your best and plead ignorance
My father raised me to fear authority
Taught me that independence means be the majority
Walk the line and don’t cause trouble because if the man has to come down, they’ll be no mercy
You’re guilty by default, Justice is blind but they can’t wait to see you in chains
Cause you’re nothing less than an animal and they hold the reins
He was just trying to spend time with a friend
Honor student, hard working mother
The kind of guy who never took his life for granted
His buddy thought of him as family, you know the kind of person you lay your life down for
The person that when that same devil comes asking for a soul, you offer yours and won’t hesitate to give him more
This kid spent time taking care of his sick mom
Pops taught him to stick to what he knew
Music.
His goal was to let his melodies distract him from the grime and grit of the life he lived
Showed him the colors mixed in all the grays, taught him rainbows were god’s gift like people are god’s gift, like sound makes hard hits but music just simply is majestic
This kid was at the wrong place at the wrong time
Emmett Till in the flesh, but maybe that’s cause it’s still fresh
Funny how it’s always minor inconveniences to mention past grievances
Yet, minor minorities end up paying lifetime sentences for simple fallacies
Ask my why I won’t let it go when the same 14 year old lynch victim is found in every generation
Mississippi in 45, Central Park 5, I’m 24, so maybe next year it’s my time to die
I’ve never been arrested but I can’t look any officer in the eye
I know my rights but who will be my witness
I know no fear greater than my own in the face of my protectors cause if my back is to them, I’m only a target of aggression
They were minors, children who looked like me, felt fear like I do, told they were animals and left to rot
This is what they said
“Details didn’t’ matter because there was no script
they were coming downtown from a world of crack, welfare, guns, knives, indifference and ignorance
They were coming from a land of no fathers
They were coming from the wild province of the poor and driven by a collective fury brimming with the rippling energies of youth, their minds teeming with the violent images of the streets in the movies. They had only one goal, to smash, hurt, rob, stomp, rape.”
You see people, a random group and decide they hold the moral high ground
Any person can train, educate and wear a uniform
Put a gun on and risk their life for another
We all have parents, sisters, brothers
I do not mean to belittle their sacrifice but they hold power I fear to own
They make decisions and make mistakes but sometimes one is all it takes
Their lifestyle created skepticisms and misguided their views
You ask me to stare up and lay down my safety, to give them my trust
You see them as angels, but I ask you, what do you think they see, when they see us?
Shakespeare
But soft, what light through yonder window breaks
It is the east, and Juliet is that all too familiar girl we meet
The one raised by money and negligence
She tells a story of independence, screams to the world about her masterful intellect all the while ignorant of her own ignorance
Look, I’m not game to sling rhymes and tell stories of happy times like it’s a winter wonderland in 1935
I’m not here to pull on your heartstrings with memories of love and loss
Tell you how I packaged up tragedy and put a bow on defeat
Grabbed myself up by my metaphorical bootstraps and told my homegirl karma to hit the streets
She ain’t did a damn thing thing to help me yet bullies that used to thrive off fear and sorrow make more money than Africa needs food to eat
It’s absolutely silly to me, that we feed off negativity
Tell ourselves that other people’s struggle is fuel to feast
It’s a dog eat dog world right, We tell ourselves, if someone has to suffer, oh not I, I won’t let that be me
Claim moral superiority, saying we can’t abort future life but leave the kids that do exist as less than the maggots that rot in unmarked caskets
Cast aside our reality, ask ourselves, “Where’s your humanity??”
What do you mean??? We murder and pillage, play mind games, and obsess over our own existence
It’s not about politics, it’s just what the truth is
We worry about our appearances, live off our greed, we slaughter and destroy and yet because we can be kind, because amongst the evil, some of us have learned to be kind of nice, because of that, we’re deserving of a paradise after life?
I’m no pessimist and certainly ain’t no saint
I learned a lesson of humility from Juliet, my fair sun who kills the envious moon
She isn’t to blame for a species that was raised by blood and war and neither are you
We are not the sum of our fore-bearers, you are not your parents but to deny the legacy you come from is to lay in a mountain of shit and say it’s just scenery
Seems to me we have a long way to go before everything is clear to see
We’re not evil incarnate, but nor are we god’s gift to the universe
We’re a thought experiment gone wrong, A night of tripping out our acid or shrooms
We were left to a dark corner of the universe to bloom
We grew sentient and thought ourselves superior, masters of our own destinies
We want so desperately to be the main protagonist in an epic so grand it stands the test of time
A Shakespearean tale for the ages
But Juliet dies every time for Romeo, so that the moon, sick and pale with grief
would forever know that Juliet was more fair than she
She, like us, was simply distracted by the surface, while missing the god damn point
Human beings fight and kill each other for their own interpretation of reality
In a world where the orphaned suffer traumas and those well off still think themselves downtrodden beyond belief
Fuck do I care about your opinions, when you’d rather I die to watch me bleed
Juliet, My love, well if only thy knew it was she
Race, economy, politics, morality, either way, it’s always been simply greek to me
So take your ideals and bury them with you when you die
Sharpen your wits, draw your life’s knowledge as the blade you carry
Then gut yourself at the first sight of reality
You watch life play out in front of you, waiting for your opportunity to stamp humanity on the universe
But curse those who would label you something different, something lesser
You hope to be a poetic lesson to learn from yet find yourself playing not the star, but the fool
The moon, her maid, So lively but envious, sick and green
Juliet, always distracted by the surface, making all other lives out to be nothing less than her enemy
You can cater to the minority but forgetting the real suffering
Well there is no greater form of true poetic irony,
Wanting to be the hero in this saga only to create an epic tale of the greatest villain to every exist in simple poetry
Take a bow, you’re the star of the show, but we’ll just call you humanity.
Never Once
I can still see so vividly all the things I knew you could be
Your mother thought that you’d be far more talented
Dreamed of baseball games and prom nights
She said, she wanted you to have eyes like hers
Crystal blue gem lights, so bright and full of life
I thought that was funny though because most kids in the family looked like the dad
She said, she’d hope you’d be kind
Worldly, but not so trapped in the illusion of the immaterial
she wanted a son who would grow up still eating the same sugary bowl of cereal
Now her dreams seem so serial, packaged and mislabeled.
Return to sender
My boy, my boy, I didn’t mean to do it to her
I knew you’d have the best of us
That you’d learn from our transgressions
Learn to trust
Put faith in misdirection, you’d never lose your way
Faith in family, you’d be grounded in those roots
NO ONE WOULD HAVE RIPPED IT APART
It was just one…
Not a second
Not a single second was slow
They say that time can magnify, extend moments into lifetimes
but life, time, it doesn’t drag, it speeds
It runs through you like a bullet through gel, I fell that night and came crashing into terror, faced the devil in hell
I said, give me just one second…
You would have wanted to see the stars that night, but you always seem to sleep through the best parts
So full of life but lacking in energy, I guess you spent it all on your heart
You had of way of drawing people in
My boy
I’m sorry I let you down, it wasn’t like me I promise
I only had three for sure
I get distracted yes, but who’s keeping score, I’ve never slipped not once, so can you cut me some slack
I just needed to let her go, make sure I never wound up back
See she said she loved me and I needed that
Told her I’d give her my spine
She beamed at that, hid sharp fangs behind cherry lips
Kissed me sweetly while sipping poison so I’d inhale and feed my demons
I just needed one…
I needed one moment… a lifetime to figure it out
Your mother said you’d be an astronaut, I said just the cosmos don’t deserve our sun
I just needed one
Never slipped before, but it was only two, maybe four but no more than one
I would have loved to hold you, the way a father would
I would have loved to see your growth
If I could take it all back I…
It was only one, who survived that night
I don’t drink any more because I’m afraid of what happens when I close my eyes
On your way to see us, humanity
Yet before you could even breathe, I took your family
I wish I could have seen your parents joy, but strangers interact and sometimes they destroy
It was only one…
‘You’ll never be anything’
She was wrong.
I read her message and in just that one moment, the moment I looked down, I came back up a killer
Reverence
Trying to catch light with my bare hands, I’m desperate
It’s tempting… carrying a makeshift torch, telling myself this darkness is natural
I just can’t remember what the sun looks like
What it feels like to not feel cold
If I could be so bold as to say, maybe I’ve always felt this way
I used to know what the sun felt like
At least, I just can’t remember what the sun looked like
Why I stumbled forward so bravely, was it the ambition mainly
Now, I don’t know if I can even say I’m not crazy, if I can embrace sanity
Sometimes I’ll take this artificial light and try to snuff it out
Live completely in the dark and wait for the edge that I know is close
Yet, the light never fades, it’ll dim, it’ll waver but it never fades
At least, I just can’t remember what the sun looks like
I fight to grasp for more in this abyss
On a cliff’s edge, it takes all I have just to find the courage to move
What did you look like
I didn’t worship a god, but simply was thankful for it’s creation
I took for granted it’s presence though was left in awe at a glance
So bright I think, powerful in nature
Capable, able to destroy but so choosing to be full of life
Is that what it was like, The sun
One by one, the days pass and I barely move, it’s like a rerun on tv that plays old cartoons
But there’s comfort in the mundane, the repetitious nature life maintains
It’s not shameful to feel discouraged, to be paralyzed with fear
Only a fool walks confidently in the dark
Maybe you expect a foregone conclusion, a lesson to learn for all my troubles
You hear this tale and expect some hint into life’s truth
But I carry my torch, pay homage to the sun I can’t say I’ve forgotten
I just can’t remember what the sun looked like
because the light was more than I deserved
I was icarus who flew just too far, I drown in my sorrows but can’t see with eyes blinded by a light that haunts my memories
So I have no lesson to teach, as I’m still figuring out how to be just me
Grayson
Grayson
It’s late at night and I don’t sleep anyway so why does it matter
What makes this night any different?
What makes glass shatter when the sound changes?
Why do hearts, built to last, feel so fragile
You wouldn’t know it looking at me but I’m super good with kids
So good in fact, that I’m the self proclaimed uncle of almost every child
No matter how wild, wicked or weird, it’s the uncertainty I guess
No rest, I know I digress but the point is that I know I would have been yours too
So you’d have two, cause I’m not ever there to replace or refuse
I know that we’d have been the best of friends
I would have taught you to say uncle before mommy and make Emily lose her head
She’d have been all, “Landry! I swear I’m kicking you out till he says mom!”
I’d have watched you grow, well mostly fall
Because I never know how it is that people just turn out tall
No recollection of how you’d gotten so big but I’d carry the worry of your growth
Every stumble you took, every groan I hid at the sound of the thump your head would make as you’d no doubt trip and fumble
Every scraped knee, the wobble of your first steps, the struggle of your first heartbreak
Every dropped ball, every missed call, every fear that would encompass
But… My advice would be unneeded
Not heeded but lost in the shuffle because you’d have plenty of support
I would be last call on a tuesday night… Meaning no attendance
because you’d have family to rely on, friends who no doubt would claim to know it all
so what good would I be?
But don’t worry about me.
Cause I’d still be gifted with my memories, of the fun we’d have, the moments we shared
But now I’m not left with happy memories, or even a stronger heart
Personally, I carry a lot of scars with very few regrets
But Greyson I’m so sorry, because I have to add just one more.
It’s not even that I won’t get to see the kind of man you’ll be or how you’ll change the world for the better
rather it’s that when given the chance, I froze
Like a statue or a lost soul standing at death’s door
I hesitated…
Every child, every baby, I’ve never shied from holding
But I couldn’t, I didn’t
I’m sorry I didn’t show you that I meant it when I said that I was family
But when your heart shatters, the sound just echoes and before you know it everything stops working
My heart will pump, day in and day out but in that moment it was like I was a shadow trying to bring fire through a blizzard
All I could be was a machine, just witnessing events as they came
but what excuse is that?
I only hope that someday I can embrace you and let you know that your uncle loves you
Till then I carry this scar, this regret, but hold your head up because you’re in good company
It’s late at night and I don’t sleep anyway so why does it matter
What makes this night any different?
What makes glass shatter when the sound changes?
Why do hearts, built to last, feel so fragile
I wrote this for my friend whose mom had passed it’s untitled
I never knew what life was like, at six years old
I thought apple seeds could bring life to trees and that you and me would never grow old
I used to wait up nights to day dream or eat ice cream in the freezing cold
I knew that people died but not you or I cause we were invincible
Then I got old
I don’t know when it was that I started to think differently
I just did
I would hide behind the many lies and friend’s goodbyes, I hid
I ran away at every embrace, thought “oh my god.” and covered my face
when you tried to kiss me
Time could play tricks and maybe I could not reminisce but wake up
Tell myself this nightmare or illusion or lesson or sitcom could just cancel
Quit the rerun or recast, I never signed up or signed this contract
Tell me why this feeling will outlast
Not outkast so don’t shake this picture
I have a memory of when I used to be happy but the figures blurred
I think I’ve gained wisdom with age and yet, what happened to the words
Rather the word cause God tells me I’m speaking wrong
Wrote a whole book to lecture me on, I have to study up and yet the test date is TBD
meaning at any moment it could be RIP
Is that why I can’t see you
Your test date came up and I ran so far ahead you left me behind
Said out loud, “You’re too slow, hurry up.”
Yet that smile turned to dust as I grew up
I never knew what life was like at 12 years old
I thought you were my foster and I was your ward
Not for any reason other than I thought I could soar
Blamed you for holding me back when you held me down
Told me that life isn’t about knowing things, it’s about the experience
I could pay my rent, have kids and still be broke
You would tell me it would be alright and I’d think, “What a stupid joke!”
How could you know with your wishful thinking?
This isn’t some 50’s children show where magical roads whisk good kids and bad kids to miracles
I was an angry kid, happy kid, cried a lot, was scared and yet whimsical
I was a spectrum and yet all rainbows become gray in the end
Maybe it was just part of his plan
Death or Jim the neighbor with his wicked grin
I’m not joking, I think my neighbor is the grim reaper
I never knew what life was like at 18 years old
When I humbled myself into thinking so much time meant so much freedom lost
My safe space had me claustrophobic
Maybe it was because I wanted to be held and yet felt alien hands wrap me up
Maybe it was all the life that beat me down
Hearing your comfort felt undeserved
Yet I still ask, why do the good deserts go to the spoiled rotten
I am still invincible so why aren’t you?
We’re one of a kind, you and I and yet you aren’t bulletproof
Why is my warden, the only friend, who when I didn’t ask, still tasked with keeping me safe, not here now
I never knew what life would say
When It came in to take me away
Caved in my worries and all my happy days
I never knew that I could say, I miss you dearly and wished you could stay
I never knew that hearts could break, heal then break, heal then break, break then heal but break to find not a piece had been replaced
I wholly wish that you wouldn’t miss what life gave me
you went through this, I’m sure you did, yet how could you brave this
I never knew what life gave me too
A mother who raised a willful and brave, someone who loves, someone like you
I never knew how my life would replay
All those memories, everlasting and short lived so that when I go to rest on that final day
I can say, thank you mom, for helping to raise me this way
Untitled (written 2/28/18)
It’s hard to bask in brilliant sunlight
It’s difficult to face tumultuous decisions in tumbling downpours
I think about you when I’m not allowed
Like waves of indulgence, you are what makes me want to feel proud
To embrace confidence and tell the world that I can take care of you
Love is my bread and butter but baby be warned
I’m a cobra of a man with no fangs, broad shouldered and standing tall
In hopes that no one notices I’m a fragile figure who at any moment… could fall
I aim at an already full target, with the hopes that I could pierce through the armor you’ve built
You are my saving grace and yet you have no empty spot beside you… I’m a galaxy without space
Yet, you cause a big bang to surface in my being every time I look at your face
With every star fall of shine that erupts with your smile
You are my heaven on earth
But how does one embrace feelings they shouldn’t have, covet what is already possessed
I’m a sad person who could only admit to themselves that they are obsessed
I’m in love with you and there is no shame in that
I just hope that I can bury these thoughts and learn to live without you
Facade (Written 1/17/18)
It’s hard to say, but I find comfort in it’s truth
So believe me when I say this isn’t meant to confuse
I like to use my words to tell a story of disbelief
Make you think my reality is fiction and it’s only lies I leave
But the truth is I’m scared of you
Not because you’re actually a threat but because you hold a thread
Tied to the tattered toppled structure that was a heart
Part glass but more so glue
because the moment I let my guard down, I left a part of it with you
So here’s my clever way of being honest
Yeah, I enjoy the wit, the hunt, the back and forth but
I can’t keep my strut, I can’t keep the chase
It’s better to erase my board of plays and be honest from the jump
I like you, yeah but I know you can’t really be mine
So I’m not asking, I’m just saying
If I could keep the imagination going, there would be comfort
There would be warmth, words that soothe and feelings that grow
However, dreams and ambitions sink, just ask the titanic
So I’m free to drown in my feelings but the release is my saving grace
I don’t want to pretend to stay afloat, I just want to stay in place.
Grace/Grateful (Title was undecided really) (written 11/7/17)
I thought that time would change how I feel
Like the waves that crash against the beach
I’d hoped my feelings were fickle and fleeting
But yet, the blood still rushes when my heart beats
You were nothing more than a miracle I let get away
When you announce your desire for the sun and yet all that’s left is rain
Left lost and wounded, I’m the wandering soldier
Fighting for a chance but nothing was gained
I’d hoped for a friendship after the mistake of disclosure
But in the end, I was only given pain
The kind that can’t be healed with time apparent
The kind where words mean jack and people know squat
Yet they feel the need to share their sense like they can’t wait to shop
But I have no time to sell and no mind to listen
I was given an angel as a friend and now we’ve drifted
Simply put,
I felt the need inherent, to feel a love that is rare
The kind where fear is lame and worry is shrouded by courage
The kind of love where everyday is ice cream and sunshine
Where rainy days are cuddles and angry days are tickles
The kind of love that emulates no other, it sets a precedent for others
I loved you like no other, I love you more than others
I know you’ve heard it all before, you can’t imagine a love so real
You think I’m intoxicated by heartbreak and just want something to feel
Look I was numb my whole life, left wishing for a family, wishing for a wife
I hungered for something to grasp onto and reached out when I knew
You don’t know what it’s like to have to accept that your soulmate won’t love you
But it’s the peace that comes after the tornado hits when you realize you witnessed nature’s full bliss
Where time stands still and you’re left to witness
I found what many search years for
The feeling of being alive in the form of a beautiful sight
I found the cause of my heartbreak and will always want more
I will not let myself lose without a fight
Forever wishing for her happiness, her life eternal
I was granted the gift of a miracle and for that I’m forever grateful
Last purge
so I won’t be posting on here anymore but I will be uploading all the poems I’ve written since last I posted. Unfortunately I won’t be posting any audio with them. They’ll strictly just be written. Honestly I’m writing this for no one in particular since no one really checks this page out but in case anyone stumbles here and wonders what happened. So hopefully someone appreciates this work. Thank you for your time, thank you tumblr for giving me a place to put my craft. Goodbye
Home
I used to think that I was made to love That I was born with an abundance, a capacity to hold a planet’s worth I used to dream of the space it would occupy Rather supply, for whose desire could I satisfy?
I thought maybe one day, I’d settle for a place like my own A heart that wasn’t brittle bone but more flexible elastic Able to stretch to a point where you’d think it’d pop but yet it would grow and grow and grow and grow
Eyes would get wide as they’d see the stretch marks The faded color, the translucent insides The bigger the space the more you could see how empty it was, less love but more full of lies It’s not that I didn’t have the capability to hold it all, but more like I tried
At some point it did pop, the pieces falling like a meteor shower I can’t seem to forget Like rainfall at your best friend’s funeral So even if you shed tears, it just looks like you’re wet
I wanted nothing more than to place my love in a home it could feel comfortable in That was you My saving grace, that put all my pieces together like the puzzles you liked to solve I’m fixed I’m six I’m sick I’ll live Without you, it’s not worth trying to fix the broken home I’m left with
Not a product of divorce but I’m tempted to seal the divide with two of everything That way I can say I tried twice as hard and that it was you that left me Maybe I’m still empty Modus Vivendi As hard as it is to say goodbye I’ll still try You’ll always be the home I felt most comfortable in Even if it was just me there
Secret Time
You’re magnificent, you’re exceptional You’re far too bright however, so it’s regretful though… That I have chosen to give up my sight to stare at you for just a little longer To sacrifice my senses, just to grow a little stronger
Sometimes I feel arrogant… so I’ll try to reach out and touch you The sensation of elation, predicated on temptation, slowed by trepidation, masked by patience… is wordy... Simply too many thoughts come to my mind when you walk through it I’m stupid, honestly mentally deficient I have a decrepit hole in my chest aching for a chance to be filled with something living
So here I am waiting for you to notice me But the fear of the sun, mixed with the fall of icarus Shows me that man made attempts to woo an earthly goddess will lead only to disaster
But your laughter… your smile I’m enamored by your style You’re kind, I have far too much time and I spent every second lost in the fantasy of us Plus, it helps that I think you’re gorgeous The heavens crafted a wonder out of marble and gave it life so as to remind me what it means to be grateful to be alive To bask in the melody of grace and gaze at the existence of love
Which sucks since I can’t look your way without metaphorically bursting into flames I’m lame without you, heating up around you You’re warmth and safety Lately, I’ve realized that I might be crazy For letting you live without knowing how much affection I want to give to you How much love I hold in my heart for you, How much peace resonates within me for every step you take towards me How quiet the thoughts in my head get when you speak cause I just want to listen How dull the night time is cause no star filled sky could glisten as bright as your eyes when you look into mine How much I just want to embrace you and never let you go How I’ll do whatever it takes to show you how you’ll never wonder if I love you, you’ll just know How much it hurts at the thought of you with someone else
For all our promises, man can do all it can to persuade a deity to take a chance To fall for a mortal man like me, but should this fail The height, the weight of rejection, the burdens I’ll bear while falling towards earth having failed to reach nirvana The pain at knowing you might not be in love as equally For that, there is no recovery I love you sure but that’ll have to stay with me
Running
I'm really good at running, It may be hard to believe at first sight, but I have been running for my entire life. Ask me what I'm running from, and I'll tell you where it started. With fear. When your body senses a threat, it produces adrenaline, increases your heart rate, induces heavy breathing, and signals the brain to make a decision, to fight, or to flee. What was my younger self to do when I was unable to fight back? Fleeing became my safety But as the fear built itself a bullet, the pain could only ricochet itself into me So many memories of my feeble body yelling stop, trying to escape and having no where to hide. I was drafted into a war zone of a home where I was taught to thicken my chain mail skin, knew how to navigate the trenches of danger, but still ran any time I felt safe. Safety came in doses. In grams of heroin, I became my own superwoman Bullets no longer scared me and I dreamt of no longer fearing the shots The truth however, was that the only shooting in this war zone was through needles. They say you shouldn't enable an addict, but when their drug dependency replaces your abuse, It's the rope you carried and gave so they could tie their own noose It's taken me a long time to accept the notion that parent does not equate good person. I was conditioned to love the people who hurt me the most. I was told that children who didn't love their parents were ungrateful and selfish. Good kids love their parents. But I.. I was a bad kid. They thought I was a fighter because I layered myself in an armor of sass, and sarcasm. Couldn't they see I was just trying to survive? A war torn home and a fantasy of make believe heroes I ran to find comfort, ran to find cover, ran to find a freedom we all hope exists. Now, I'm still running... Too afraid to stand still because if I slow down.. I'm afraid my past will catch up to me
Fissure
You used to be my everything...
I used to wake up to brighter days
I used to dance to the melody of your footsteps close my eyes and get lost in the tone of your voice Saying nothing while the movie plays
I stay up night and day writing you poetry you'll never read Rewrite line after line till the ink resembles the blood I bleed Smeared and caked on Like the make up you wear to hide who you are
What I see... The guise you wear to lie to the world when you tell them you're a simple girl. Instead of the angel I pray to
To this day, I haven't replaced the piece of my heart you took, that I gave Caved in and misshaped, it barely beats Missing the better parts, it barely speaks The life It needs, I can't get my flow back I want to say how much I miss you but you already know that
I just wanted to be around you, I just wanted to love you I just want my best friend back...
Passing Letters
I didn’t plan to do this but you hit me with a spark to jumpstart this flow, this is a freestyle about how sexy you are
You are a set scene on Hollywood boulevard You make dreams come true and I’m willing to try hard Rather I’m dropping my guard and coming at you direct I got a mangled and scarred lump of flesh I’m giving as interest My heart is misshapen but I hope you’re impressed At this unchecked insect, biting your style in hopes to project my effect to be your choice, please select Options 1 and 2 where we fall in love and correct, live not two happy lives but one perfect
You are my poison that I can’t reject Just like a child I’ll never neglect I’m filled with respect, no need to suspect I am the student, you are my subject So to digress, I’ll study up and pass the test This is bookwork but you are my conquest So I’ll need to prepare I’ll work hard to prove that your beauty and personality are unmatched on this world
Fierce, that’s what I see Pierce through the veil of simple transgressions You taught the course on subtle but left an earthquake of destruction in my being I’m being too weird, yeah I know but if life was as simple as they say, my life would be a Disney show
You know, the ones where we’d be neighbors but also friends Where I’d fawn over some other girl and you’d just pretend sorry, you’d just tend to care less about it Give me grief till my summer crush came to an end Where the tension between us would build Where even though we were friends every moment would feel like “Netflix and chill” Until the series finale, where wedding bells would be
But this is reality and it never wraps up so easily So rather than wish for a fiction filled twist I’m putting my heart on the table and going all in Betting the house and the stable So if I lose, I might feel unable to continue lying about how detached I thought I was
Or maybe this is just another poem about a girl that isn’t you but ask yourself this, “Would you rather be the audience or the topic, the subject” If this was grade school, this would be my note so please circle no or yes. If you find yourself feeling alone or just want truth filled with passion Then listen to this on repeat and write your self a letter filled with obscenities
Mail that shit to me and I’ll reenact them I’m just acting, rather I’m just asking, if you could write something so filled with passion Wouldn’t you like for someone to be there, when you pass it?
So let me have it
Sappy Love Poem
I’ve often said that the sea is my favorite place It’s chaotic, yet tranquil. Subtle but bold. The oceans can leave a quiet trace of tales far too old That perfect dichotomy, it’s the juxtaposition of creation and destruction side by side… …you are majesty, you are reverence, but yet also simplistically mundane. you are Mondays
Overlooked, and shuffled away, surprisingly hated by cats But Garfield is a fast pass to ignorance in the form of a fat cat… you are a gem Hidden in your own temple of obscurity, hiding in plain site it’s a mystery why God never let your light shine in an obvious way
With so much to say, so much to offer. You are on earth to be honored and yet I’m dust in the atmosphere saying, “I want to land on her.” Meaning I’m attracted to you, cause you have a magnetic source hidden in your shipwreck.
Like the sea that holds it’s simplicity, your eyes are my safe space but also where I crash land. Where I find myself drowning in deep blue luxury, or maybe just indulging a fantasy.
You make me want to listen to sappy love songs about your baby blue eyes, a rocket to the moon or something by Jesse Ruben like This is Why I Need You This is why I bleed too, cause my heart has pieces missing Hoping for a second chance to just start kissing or better yet To just start wishing, for a makeshift adventure that is all too thrilling
Have you feel what I feel when you tug on my heartstring Creating an orchestra melody, that is recognized through history as a masterpiece Masterfully crafted, a welcomed disaster With access to my heart, you are my master But this life is delicate so please don’t shatter
You are capable and grace personified Your father’s daughter, you are freedom in a shell Hope through presence, a wishing well You are my sea, beautiful and endless
side by side, I can say I’m quite blessed
