Welcome to scenic CP_Gorge, where this GMod created tale begins! What happens when the mercs have to deal with aggressive Pokemon and their only help comes in the form of an Inkling? Maybe things will go smoothly?... (NOTE: The comic has long been discontinued but I'm keeping it up as an archive. Hello?

Sorry to say, this blog was discontinued years ago and is now just an archive. I've even moved on from using the Source engine! However, I still hold a lot fondness for this old story and even remember a lot of the key plot details so if I ever want to remake this the possibility is still there. For now, if anyone wants to reach me my most active social media is Bluesky: lilbludragon.bsky.social, (well, technically it's Discord but I tend to be more "insular" there) although I do occasionally check my main (and Petz) blogs too. Shiitake mushrooms, this one was huge! Remember when I said I split Chapters 4 and 5 because they were too long? Couldn’t do that with this chapter so Chapter 8 officially has the most panels in one chapter at 25 split into 5 pages!

As per milestones: it was around this time that I got a hold of two very important addons, HWM Fix and Submaterial tool. Sadly for the former I had already set everyone up and taken most of the pics so I felt it would have been weird to suddenly switch to the HWM ragdolls mid(/late) chapter. Seriously, these pics are old! By the time you’ll see the next chapter (or even just the mini chapter) I will have already gotten the hang of face posing HWMs so don’t worry about awkward faces in serious moments!

As per the Submaterial tool, hope you weren’t too attached to “Mischief’s” hoodie and slip-ons since thanks to the Submaterial tool she’ll be sporting a new outfit by next chapter! I know the new shirt could be explained as having been under her hoodie but where’d she get the shoes?... Actually, you’ll find out later!

I also got the Enhanced Pyro at around this time and while I almost considered not using it for the comic I liked it so much that I changed my mind. Of course, I couldn’t use it now. Oh well, better late than never!

Remember that dog that appeared way back in the first chapter? That thing that BLU team kept talking about like it was a terrible threat? That thing that Medic mentioned as toxic? Yeah, they knew it was dangerous but they have no idea just how dangerous it really is.

As per milestones in this chapter; I picked up the Animated Prop tool! It was pretty obvious where I used it when I just wanted characters doing an action that they already have animations for but the tool makes for an amazing, fantastic source for references such as how they hold their weapons! Makes me wish there was something like that for the Inklings so I didn’t need to look for twenty million and one pictures just to know how an Inkling holds a Jet Squelcher... Or I could just turn on my damn game and use that for references...

As per another milestone; I learned to be VERY careful with the Effect tool. Seriously, if I didn’t freak out so much I’d have taken more pictures of what happened when the effects really started piling up! Why I decided to fool around with effects instead of focusing on taking shots I blame entirely on curiosity, but at least I got a really “amusing” photo with Sniper and a rainbow! I’ll show that one later! XD

If my notes are correct then it was around this time that the Enhanced Inkling Models got an update. Yeah, these shots are old... I also made a couple of mistakes, one of which I appear to not have fixed (likely because I had already moved the ragdolls too much to just backtrack), and another that I’m just going to keep as a couple of personal bonus pictures. A bit of a slower chapter this one but I do establish a couple of things here that will prove significant later. Speaking of later, a certain quadruped is set to reappear in the next chapter!

I planned to upload Chapter 6 today but I’m gonna be a bit busy until the 3rd or 4th so I’ll upload the mini-chapter since it’s just a single page/image/part/I just have to upload the one image. Besides, it takes place between Chapters 5 and 6.

As much as I have a lot more ideas for just random GMod scene pics I think it’s about time I got back to work on the comic. Things got derailed, really derailed, but I think I’ll get back to making more pages for the comic while I’m still getting my Deviantart account to catch up.

More GMod Pics Over At The Main Blog!

Since I’ve added to my backlog of comic related pictures and would like to use models and maps that won’t appear in the comic (or at least I have no plans for them to appear in the comic) I’ll be digressing a bit to doing some posing for fun. I’ll be taking screenshots too, but since this blog is for just my comic I can’t (or rather, won’t) upload these pictures here.

I make this post to draw some attention over there since characters from my comic may make appearances in these extra pictures, including early character reveals! The ragdolls I’ll be playing with for now are dragons (particularly from Dragon Age), dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures, but I just can’t stay away from those Splatoon and Team Fortress 2 models! Interested in draconic and prehistoric shenanigans? Then tap that gamepad or grab your Rocket Launchers and jump over to my main blog!

The comic will still keep going, it’s just that I won’t be taking new pictures for it for a bit since I already have a lot of screenshots that have yet to be put into comic format. By the time my backlog starts to look sparse I’ll likely already be back to 100% motivation to grabbing screencaps for the comic (as opposed to having dragons and dinos on the brain).

More bonus pics only this time we have a collection of my “Panel Stupids”! I mentioned that these two chapters were made the first time I noticed the Camera tool so naturally I had to have a little fun!

The third pic was me messing with Face Poser on myself, the fourth was me not realizing my position before taking the shot, the fifth picture was actually just to test the camera and everything else just kind of happened and the second to last one was an accidental shot from when I was headbanging! Seeing this playermodel again makes me want to switch back to it...

These are just some of the bonus pictures I’ve taken for both chapters four and five. I’m holding off on revealing more of these bonuses due to them being closer shots of early reveal easter eggs, so they’d be spoilery to show now.

Two pics I’ll mention more detail about are Pyro’s pic, which is a better look at them when they were in the background in Chapter 4, and the bottom pic of RED Spy to show that he dodged out of the way of Scout’s ball (and is probably why he only managed to clip Soldier with his shot).

You also won’t believe how many close up shots I have of Medic and Archimedes. Have just one of these pics since otherwise I’d just clutter this photoset with the two!

I don't know if it's just me but I thought the Inkling font was harder to read. I even did a test to see if my brother could read that Quick Brown Fox test. But yeah, the mercs can't understand anything she's saying! I've seen Splatoon GMod videos and in them they always have the Inklings able to communicate with humans and other english/human language speakers when it's actually established that they have their own language.

I could understand why this was glossed over but where some saw adversity, I saw not just a challenge but an opportunity. ;) I'll also just reveal something I plan to do later that I call "perspective", where we'll see, and hear, the story through the perspective of either the mercs or the Inkling and this changes who can be understood and who seems like they're speaking gibberish.

This is also the first time I used the Advanced Particle Controller. I did add a muzzle flash particle for Spy's gun but it was a bit too fast for me to take (and I can't recall if I knew how to pause particles at the time or if the flash was still too quick for me to catch).

Fun fact: This and the next "Chapter" were meant to be one Chapter, but I felt it would have been too long so I split them. Still, I think I'll upload the next pages either later today or sometime tomorrow just to keep them together in a small way.

I'm just going to cut straight to the chase about the milestone of this Chapter; I finally noticed I had a Camera tool and not just a Camera weapon! Thanks to how overjoyed I was at the time about my (finally) using the Camera tool I went overboard with the easter eggs, but at least one of them plays an immediate role a little later. I took a few pictures of the easter eggs but I'm not ready to release those since they may be a bit spoiler-y.

I mentioned I had some bonus pictures that I took while making the last Chapters (actually, every chapter I’ve taken pictures for thus far has bonus pictures) and while I could have uploaded them sooner I decided to wait until I could upload a compilation of bonus pics instead of just one at a time.

First we have another angle of the Feral Hellhound running away from its assailant back in Chapter 1. Even though there was no way to see that I had changed its expression from the angle I’d take for the comic I still changed it anyway so i took a bonus picture. The second pic is what I’ve labeled as a “Panel Stupid”, basically a bonus picture where I either make a mistake or I’m just fooling around. Yep, that’s my playermodel (its the High Dragon playermodel), at least until I decided to change it up some time in the middle of working on Chapter 8. Expect to see me like this for a while! And there’s the derp eyes I mentioned back in my commentary for Chapter 3! Not much else to say other than it took a while to get the eyes just right. I can’t vouch for whether or not ink tastes good since I don’t like seafood but I do know it is edible...

How would you feel if you woke up in a dark, unfamiliar room with a bright light in your face and there's this weird/prehistoric creature around twice your size approaching you? Another question; how much surgery would it take to rearrange your bones back in place after a particularly large and cornered flying squid decides to "fly" through you?

Looks like I managed to upload the next day (meaning today). The only milestone I can claim for this Chapter is I made my first "derp" eyes. It's Medic who's derped on the final Panel in Page 2 but I do have a better picture of Medic's derpy eyes that I'll upload soon along with a few other bonus pictures I took while making Chapters 1 - 3.

If there's one thing I'm ecstatic about with uploading this Chapter it's that I really start to improve quickly from here on out. It was after making Chapter 3 that I took a break from the comic to do some side posing, to learn a little more about what tools I had as well as gained the habit of being more thorough when looking through the GMod Workshop which would greatly increase my arsenal of tools.
