Update on this Blog (6/8/25)
Hello everyone.
As you've noticed from my last update, I've been a bit more active on Tumblr as of late. I'm not fully back yet, but I plan to be within the next few weeks. Hopefully, during the height of the Euros.
I definitely have some analyses in mind and pieces about players/comparisons I want to write about. So don't you worry. I will still be yappin' if you're interested.
But it's time to also breakdown something serious, too. My country is quite literally falling apart. Right now, we still have basic freedom of speech but realistically? I'm not sure how long we'll have that, either. While this Blog is mostly WOSO/shitposts, you'll find the odd political post, too.
With all that in mind? I'll continue to post mostly WOSO here (along with a mix of political and shitpost/humorous posts). But at the same time, it's realistic that certain aspects of this may be shut down, too. Not sure. And with ABC News Reporter Terry Moran's recent firing for simply being critical, it's not looking good.
It's getting bad. To all my USA followers, stay safe. I am here for you if you need to vent.
Be well, all. Stay safe.
Sharing this and wanting to add that the way to fascism is lined with people telling you to stop overreacting. So me stepping out here is an "overreaction" if people want to see it this way. But while we see many protests coming too little and too late in the US - which is very saddening to see, @batsarentbugs 🫂 - we need to do literally everything in our power in order to stop this from growing and happening over here in Europe, too. Now, better yesterday. But definitely NOW.
Fascists worldwide do have their playbook. And once you know it (we can follow it live in the US), you can recognize the signs and actions very clearly. The new German government took notes, this is for sure. Putting the focus on scapegoats, let it be migrants, unemployed, chronically or mentally ill people. While tax cuts happen for those who are already privileged. This is the way to authoritarianism. You may want to look away and ignore the signs. But when it's there, it'll be too late. Stand up for our rights and stand up for those who have no strong lobby and need allies! Do it!
I am following woso only very little right now because I am spending my limited capacities outside of work for political purposes/defending democracy. I am reading a bit once in a while but I honestly cannot enjoy the PR-driven feeling of normality that players and clubs are spreading. All good, all fun, all fashion and style? And money? Yeah, this will be a hard awakening once it's too late.
And I do notice and sense how DFB is shutting down any criticism players are voicing. Either about sports or society. It's only sports, duh! Not that deeeheeep! This attitude in the times we are living in? It is shameful. Nothing learned from history. Nothing.
I keep this account open and reblog stuff on an irregular basis. But my focus is certainly on politics because what we often take for granted is very fragile.
Let's acknowledge the situation and act. Not out of pessimism, but because considering the worst case makes it possible to fight it so that the worst case may never become reality. In Europe, that is.
To all my American followers: I see you, I hear you! I do spread the word over here so that people know what's going on! I am not okay with us kissing Trump's ass instead of calling him out! Stay strong, be safe! 💪🫂
