VIVA LA REV CHAPTER 1 DEVELOPMENT PROGRESS
The Real Viva La Rev Dev Journal Begins.(Dev Journal #3)
For those who played, Kids These Days at the itch.io and enjoyed that game will probably be upset because Kids These Days as you know it has been gutted and rearranged into Viva La Rev. Viva La Rev or VLR will still follow the same themes I was teasing in Kids These Days, however I want to take a darker turn because in all honesty. There is something quite intriguing to me about how kids (ages 11-13) would view adult themes such as war, and politics. Instead of making a wholesome tale where the heroes always prevail, I want to tell a more gritty story, a story dipped in realism. Sometimes life sucks, sometimes death comes for people of all ages. Sometimes, everything falls apart and I want to tell a story of innocence as well as loss of innocence.
Now, Kids These Days have undergone some huge changes to the visuals and is currently undergoing some massive changes elsewhere that aren’t quite ready yet.
Meet Venali, our spunky protagonist. The best way to explain the changes to her is now she is a little more on the rebellious side. She’s a lit firecracker that is just waiting for her time to explode into something great. She is a blank canvas that can easily be dyed any color in terms of her alignment.
Blackridge is now Francesca, a culturally diverse city that will be your main hub through most of the game. I want to make a place that people will remember like Firelink shrine from Dark Souls or The Mushroom Kingdom from Mario. Most of the music from Kids These Days will be re-purposed but Blackridge’s Day and Night Themes shall brought over because I love them so much. Got a problem!?
Good. Anyway, There are a lot more changes to come to the project but I am currently working on.
A. Not committing Sudoku
B. Trying to find a way to make Turn based Combat fun for those who aren’t fans of the combat system.
C. Playing around with different art styles for the game’s in game sprites.
D. Trying to think of ways to make VLR stand out among the never ending sea of RPGMAKER games.
E. Parrallax mapping is stupid and I hate it.
Thank you all for reading, and especially thank you for following the development of Viva La Rev.

Solo deving is hard as fuck. That is all, more updates this week.
Viva La Rev Dev Diary #1
Hey there! My name is Cedric Stewart and I am the developer of Viva La Rev. Viva La Rev is a gumbo of a lot of previous projects that I wasn’t skilled or motivated enough to complete as a solo developer. Viva la Rev started as a game entitled, Kids These Days. A game following three kids on a bunch of wacky adventures. About 40% into development I realized that I wanted to explore some darker themes. I knew I couldn’t do this because I had already set the game up to be lighthearted maybe even a little bit too sugary. Viva La Rev...thats alot to type. VLR is a coming of age story, a story about war, child soldiers, self worth. I want to play around with the normal conventions of alignment. What makes someone the “good guy” and what makes something “the right thing” to do. I want to flip these conventions on their head and make an experience that people won’t forget.
VIVA LA REV is turn based JRPG that follows 6 kids as they grow up in a nation on the brink of a civil war. The story will follow themes of war, child soldiers, self worth, and purpose.
Hello!
We have some great announcements to make that just aren’t there yet.
