Blake and Ghira have a heart-to-heart, interrupted by Sun who warns Blake that masked White Fang members are lurking about, despite Kali's claim that they don't wear masks here. Just as Blake tries to nip this exciting development in the bud, she discovers a masked White Fang member spying on her and gives chase.

Also, Qrow got poisoned.

I will first disclaim this by saying that I am not a parent nor do I have any intention of becoming one, and as such my perspective is based on experience from a non-parent.

I think one of the most important responsibilities of a parent to their child is giving their child the freedom to fail. I place a lot of value on personal autonomy and the right of every person to self-determinism, and a key aspect of that is the ability to make mistakes, that one may Find Out what happens when one Fucks Around. I imagine that this is something that is very difficult for a lot of parents who care about the safety and wellbeing of children, because I know that it can be one of the most aggravating things to watch other people make the same mistakes you made in the past, and know all to well the impulse and desire to spare some one the pain that comes from making those mistakes.

But inevitably, people make those mistakes. And they suffer the consequences. Try as one might, there are some lessons that will only be learned the hard way. And often, those are among the most important lessons of all.

What I am saying here is: Good on ya, Ghira. May more dads take after your example.

Whenever I'm visiting or being visited by my mother, I have a terrible habit of partially regressing to the shy and timid person that I was for much of my youth, afraid of taking space, reluctant to speak up, always struggling for something to say. I try to mitigate this by incorporating people from my current social circles into our visits, so that at the very least my mother can have a genuine glimpse of the person I was able to become once freed from the confines of our old home.

Last fall I brought her to a fundraising gala for an organization for which I once served as president of the board of directors, and she got to see me work the room as a Person of Note and Reputed Status, an opportunity for which I was very grateful. There's a certain irony in the fact that out of all the people I know, I fear that my blood family knows me the least well of all.
