good morning to this fanfiction author and good morning to them alone
Like, literally, because of the amount of shit that happens to, say, your blood? Some doctors are saying it should be categorized more as a blood-related illness, NOT a respiratory illness.
Seriously, y'all, this shit is SO SERIOUS. Don't brush it off.
“Required a woman in her 20s to receive a double lung transplant” might be an extreme case, but I feel like it needs to be brought up every time someone says “most will survive”. Like, yeah okay, that may statistically be so, but you need to mention what they may possibly have to endure, for that survival. And the cost involved, since this is the USA, and most of the ~50M people who’ve lost their jobs also lost their health insurance that was tied to those jobs.
It is NOT that everyone who doesn’t die just lies on the couch for a few days, until a fever breaks. US unemployment numbers are never going to return to their pre-covid levels because we’re going to have an explosion of newly disabled citizens who cannot return to the work they used to do, due to being given chronic fatigue, asthma, and diabetes (among other permanent ailments) from “surviving” covid-19.
And imagine: you survive covid, with a $1M hospital bill, come out of it with diabetes, insulin is over $1K a month and rising because demand for it has mushroomed, and covid-19 is a pre-existing condition that makes you uninsurable, because Republicans killed Obamacare.
You need to think of ALL ANGLES, before you take a gamble on covid being “survivable”.
"We're going to have an explosion of newly disabled citizens"
Phone call home 😂📚💥
I don’t know who needs to hear this but, if you need to cry during the holidays, go ahead & do that.
Let that energy out.
Sending you love 💚

also with all due respect the main reason the left loses so much is that y’all refuse to compromise on the language and messaging you use to speak to voters. i swear if you rebranded “defund the police” as “invest in community safety from the ground up” most white suburban moderates would be like “that sounds great” and i know that because that’s how i’ve literally reframed it to white suburban moderates who think “defund the police” means we’re going to live in a scary lawless mad max world
“Now, I think the biggest problem with the white liberal in America, and perhaps the liberal around the world, is that his primary task is to stop confrontation, stop conflicts, not to redress grievances, but to stop confrontation. And this is very clear, it must become very, very clear in all our minds. Because once we see what the primary task of the liberal is, then we can see the necessity of not wasting time with him. […]
The reason the liberal seeks to stop confrontation—and this is the second pitfall of liberalism—is that his role, regardless of what he says, is really to maintain the status quo, rather than to change it. He enjoys economic stability from the status quo and if he fights for change he is risking his economic stability. What the liberal is really saying is that he hopes to bring about justice and economic stability for everyone through reform, that somehow the society will be able to keep expanding without redistributing the wealth.
This leads to the third pitfall of the liberal. The liberal is afraid to alienate anyone, and therefore he is incapable of presenting any clear alternative. […]
Fourth, I do not think that liberals understand the difference between influences and power, and the liberals get confused seeking influence rather than power. The conservatives on the right wing, or the fascists, understand power, though, and they move to consolidate power while the liberal pushes for influence. […]
These pitfalls are present in his politics because the liberal is part of the oppressor. He enjoys the status quo; while he himself may not be actively oppressing other people, he enjoys the fruits of that oppression. And he rhetorically tries to claim the he is disgusted with the system as it is.
While the liberal is part of the oppressor, he is the most powerless segment within that group. Therefore when he seeks to talk about change, he always confronts the oppressed rather than the oppressor. He does not seek to influence the oppressor, he seeks to influence the oppressed. He says to the oppressed, time and time again, “You don’t need guns, you are moving too fast, you are too radical, you are too extreme.” He never says to the oppressor, “You are too extreme in your treatment of the oppressed,” because he is powerless among the oppressors, even if he is part of that group; but he has influence, or, at least, he is more powerful than the oppressed, and he enjoys this power by always cautioning, condemning, or certainly trying to direct and lead the movements of the oppressed.”
