Dig Deep

After The Burial released their album last week, and I've listened to it over 20 times already.

With the passing of their guitarist Justin, people thought they might call it quits, but they carried on to honour his legacy.

Now this album is fucking flawless from front to back, I get chills, I headbang, I laugh and just fucking enjoy it. It's got that ATB vibe that made them great in the first place.

Lost in the Static is just djenty through and through, with Anthony's fast vocals making an appearance once again. Catacombs is just pinch harmonic central. Heavy Lies the Ground has a 'Berserker' feel to it and I love it. The finest track is that of Laurentian Ghosts, taken from Justin's demo reel and based off a warm up riff he used to play with an air horn leading into the breakdown, I get shivers when I listen to the intro.

I can't really put into words how I feel about this album. It's djenty, got good groove and it's even better than I could've hoped. - 10/10

Delusions of Grandeur dropped another EP, and it's fucking 'Brutiful'.

If you've never heard of them go and listen to all their EPs, you will not be disappointed. I first heard ‘Quantum’ from Efficacy in 2013 and I've been hooked ever since.

Gravis is 4 tracks coming in at just over 21 minutes and it's exciting throughout.

'Swing It' is still in my head on a daily basis, I can't get enough of the djenty groove. 'Gravis' has one of the greatest solos they've ever done in my opinion.

The guitarwork is flawless throughout as always same goes for the vocals. I'm probably biased as they're my favourite band, but oh well.

I really fucking suck at this: Omnihility

(Death Metal) This album came out earlier this year and I only just found it, what?

Omnihility formed in 2009 in the "Valley Of Death" amongst the woods of Eugene, Oregon. With 2 albums and an EP you know shit is going down. Straight away I hear influences of Death Metal old and new, Cannibal Corpse and Beyond Creation, and man I fucking LOVE both those bands. (Beyond Creation have an album dropping on October 24th. The tracks I've heard are sooooooo good. READY FOR MORE FRETLESS BASS TAPPING?!)

Deathscapes of the Subconscious, if you like drums this is the album for you. The mix is a bit heavy drum wise, but fuck who cares, this bro is talented as fuck. Disseminate has crazy drums, especially nearing the last minute or so. It's rounded off with a nice little Brain Drill-esque guitar outro.

Infact, Disseminate is probably the best track, it's so fast I couldn't believe my ears!

The guitar and bass go together perfectly, sinister as fuck. The guitarist isn't trying to show off that he's technical it's not a chug, chug tech style. It's subtle and how the bassist keeps up with him is just down right impressive.

8/10 would bang. Get this album and listen to it over and over. I promise you will love it more every single time.

I'd listened to Omnihility before but this release wasn't on my radar and I'm truly pissed off at myself for that.

Fuck I disappeared: Years of Tyrants

Man, where do I start with this band? (Tech Deathcore) Hailing from Paris, France, this 4 piece know what people are looking for in Tech-Death. With 1 demo and an EP under their belts, I really can't wait for a full length album. I know I wrote Deathcore it's not dull, give them a listen. The insane speed and staple core sound is there, just with their guitarist who has super human abilities. Leading the Blind opens with a sweet guitar lick straight off the bat and blast beats galore, how their drummer plays this shit blows my mind. Going from pounding drum beats to sick basslines and technical riffs on the guitar I can't see how anyone could dislike this band. The tempo changes switches things up a bit ready to lead into some finger breaking guitarwork. The vocals are great, and I mean even on the few live videos I could find - he kicks serious ass! This World Is Ours is my favourite track purely for the bass into guitar riff, as soon as I heard it I had to go back and replay it - over and over. Listening to the album right now eagerly awaiting. It's a masterpiece. I highly advise you to check these guys out. There's one downside to their newest release, it's too short. I don't know if they're working on any new material currently as their Facebook page hasn't been updated since December 2013. Keep your eyes and ears open Tech fans.

Let's get shit started: Rings of Saturn

Rings of Saturn are a California based Tech Death band (surprised?). Their music is lyrically and musically influenced by Aliens and Space, which is pretty obvious once you listen to them and admire their artwork.

Their catchy riffs and insane melodies are going to be stuck in your head forever.

If you're looking for groove in your metal, this is the band you want to be listening to. Seized and Devoured has one of the greatest grooves I've heard in Tech Death still to this day. Both of their albums are clearly all about the guitars.

Embryonic Anomaly was their first release and is just straight up slick playing, lacking on the songwriting. I would still thoroughly recommend it. Since that album is what broke me into Tech Death!

Dingir on the other hand is a masterpiece. It highlights how much they've progressed as a  band and a lot of work went in to make the album as good as it is. The opening track has great guitar work and an amazing mid-section of upbeat instrumentation. The vocalist is one of the best in the genre, his highs and lows are flawless.

I recommend you listen to both their albums, and if you enjoy them you'll be pleased to know they're working on a new album right now with Aaron Kitcher of Blacktongue/Infant Annihilator.
