Technically 2.0

A long, long time ago, I intended this to be a tech news blog but now I realized I don't have the passion nor commitment to make that happen. So I'm rebranding it for myself as a place for inspiration and a place to keep myself going when times are tough. 

Hopefully, it'll help you through those times too when you feel stuck in a rut and disgusted with yourself for lack of motivation or drive. 

Within the month, I hope to:

1. Rebrand and redesign Technically.ca 

2. Change course and make it an online repository of design, web development and personal inspiration to myself and others.

3. Chronicle my path of learning code and hopefully succeeding. 

P.S. Don't know why but I'm posting the iOS7 wallpaper as well because well, it's pretty and ethereal.

As many problems that Android and Google are facing right now with fragmentation and lack of quality dev support, mascot and branding has never been a weak point. With the successively more delicious name, Android has built itself a veritable Willy Wonka factory of branding and brand success. Now if only they could do something about actual OS fragmentation.

This is exactly the problem with Android tablets. Lack of focus. While the iPad is already a plethora of confusing 12 choices between data plan, color and capacity. Android has become a cesspool of hardly different wanna-be's. Android tablet companies need focus and a "top-tier" flagship to focus their Android strategy. This lack of focus only seeks to confuse the consumer and give a negative user experience which results in decreased OS loyalty.

Another problem/advantage to the Android OS over every other mobile OS out there, its customizability. While it brings an unbeatable customizability to each phone, it also brings with it varying OS experiences which only seeks to further fragment the overall experience. Google needs to mandate minimum UI requirement and maximum carrier & manufacturer customizablity in over to consolidate the entire system. Hopefully they realize this at Google IO.

This is what we need more of in Canada. Smaller incumbents getting competitive top tier Android phones. The cheap proliferation and fragmentation of Android only seeks to send a negative user experience, something that Google & Android does not need right now compared to the (relatively) polished iOS ecosystem.

Whatever Google releases tomorrow it will be the prime competitor to iPad. What Android really needs is to release something radically innovative yet still user friendly and most of all developer friendly. Innovative OS + app support = success over iOS.

Sony has always been masters of advertising and this is no exception. Helps that I do kinda want the Xperia Arc.

A veritable masterpiece that speaks to the boundless diversity that is human life and the human sprit. From the youngest to the oldest of us, beauty of the human spirit unites us all. This movie I think will speak true to that. Awesome that technology and YouTube now allows us to create such a movie.

Amazingly technical and creative music video using flash. Literally. Flash from a Canon camera. Well worth the watch even if just to drop your jaw in awe at how much coordination must have gone into just one second. The animations are simply beautiful and the song is pretty nice too.
