“Dude, the fuck pay attention and stop texting whatever bitch it is you’re texting.” Jun screamed at the man standing behind him. Him and Teddy were standing on some street corner near city hall spray painting a wall mural about stopping Asian hate. Well Jun was spray painting, Teddy was there to hand him the colors as he needed them and for moral support. But the cocksucker was just standing around busy with his phone. Jun’s outburst got ahold of him though and Teddy was back. “Sorry loverboy, I won’t text my side pieces when I’m around you anymore, I know you get jealous.” Teddy’s flirty voice and comment earned a glare from Jun as he turned to face his friend. “No you dick,” he rolled his eyes and pointed to the the duffle bag that was sitting between them, “I need another can, this one is almost gone.”
As Teddy rolled through the bag, he returned his attention back to the mural he was making. It was a little more explicit than he was normally known for, with a few cuss words and stuff. And it was definitely ballsy of him to be here across from city hall doing this. But he had made both of them wear facemasks so the street cameras couldn’t figure out who they were. He also had his signature headband covering his ears, knowing that most cops these days identified people by that instead. There had been a spread of hate crimes and some of his friends had been at the end of a brutal mugging in the streets. A lot of people were torturing and beating up asians and throwing slurs around. And this Korean man was fucking tired of it, and so doing what he did best. He was going to vandalize some shit in the sake of activism to make get someone to do something. All the cops had been sweeping these instances under the rug lately and it was quiet frankly getting annoying and racist as shit.
It really didn’t take much time for him to convince Teddy to come with him, this wasn’t the first time he had asked Teddy for lookout. It wasn’t his usual go to plan, most of the time he did smaller pieces in broad daylight it eased getting in trouble somehow. Also the benefit of having Teddy around meant there was drugs. And being high always helped focus Jun’s mind to do a piece of art work like this. Before they started Jun and Teddy had done a couple lines each, and now the men were definitely in the best place. Jun was almost done with the mural, he was just working on the outlines which was requiring more cans of black spray paint than he had thought. The idea of not finishing this piece was nagging at his brain, when he heard something near them. Something that sounded a lot like trouble.
Teddy was texting a few of his flavors of the week back, smirking softly at their cute little attempts to keep his attention. Jun normally was enough to keep him pretty focused but his brain was on one track today, and he rolled his eyes at his friend. “Sorry loverboy, I won’t text my side pieces when I’m around you anymore, I know you get jealous.” He teased softly pocketing the phone as he smiled at the other wide, “all you care about is art, I feel like you never hear me anymore baby” He joked as he moved to hand him each can of paint he needed.
His eyes followed every bit of movement, he was always captivated with how the art flowed. Jun was always talented and this was a piece that was significant to the other, and him even. He saw the way the anger was building inside his friend, and it wasn’t right what was going on, and he knew this piece would light a bit of the fire under the polices asses. Adjusting the mask a bit, he kept it close to him, he knew better. His mother always warned him about hiding his identifying features, he knew the drill.
This wasn’t the first nor would it be the last time he hands his friend paint cans, it was always fun, and he always felt like he helped some type of cause, even if it was indirect. The drugs in their system were defiantly helping and it took him a couple delay moments to notice the unpleasing sound near them. It seemed like trouble, and his eyes met Jun’s. “we running or facing?”
