Okay I have things I should be seeing to but I couldn’t help myself. In case you, like me, have not read all of these stories and would like to be amongst the lucky 10,000 today:
I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream by Harlan Ellison
The King in Yellow by Robert W Chambers*
The Lottery by Shirley Jackson**
The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe
The Monkey’s Paw by W.W. Jacobs
The Most Dangerous Game by Richard O'Connell
The Nameless City by HP Lovecraft
The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas by Ursula K LeGuin
There Will Come Soft Rains by Ray Bradbury
The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman
The Veldt by Ray Bradbury
Honorable Mention from the comments/reblogs:
All Summer in a Day by Ray Bradbury
*note: this is actually a collection of short stories and clocks in at about 72k words
**Originally published in the New Yorker in 1948; interestingly, the New Yorker still has this story archived on their website BEHIND A PAYWALL. CAN YOU IMAGINE.
I don’t think a parent’s love is conditional on the basis of their child’s sexuality. I just think you have shitty parents? Like I’m gay and my parents adore me so
Same sex marriage is legal in 38 countries in the world right now, although this alone does not guarantee societal acceptance. Homosexuality is criminalized in 66 countries around the world, ranging from arrest to years in jail. 5 countries punish homosexuality by death, with 2 of these countries actually enforcing this law. In my countries, same sex marriage was illegal until I was 10 (Massachusetts, 2004) and is currently still illegal in Italy. Furthermore Italy provides no legal protection for queer individuals and an employer is within their rights to fire a worker for being gay. As of just 3 weeks ago, Italy has made it illegal to teach gender and sexuality in schools (and I am a queer teacher).
I’m very happy that you have parents who love and adore you for being gay, but please recognize that the vast majority of queer people in the world have polar opposite experiences, which in the most extreme cases lead to death (homicide or suicide). In fact, just last week a young Italian man was killed by his dad for being gay.
You guys can’t even say “have sex” anymore. Everything has to be “rawed”

not to sound like a spartan but sex as a bonding ritual between two male friends is so underrated
It’s so funny to me that soccer games can end with a score of 0-0 like imagine going to see a soccer game and both teams just run around the field for 90 minutes doing absolutely nothing and nobody scores any points and at the end of the 90 minutes they’re like well. Guess that’s that. Great soccer game guys.
