Showing The Ropes | Mayuri + Nemuri |
@medicine-for-the-brain
The Seireitei was always particularly quiet, especially during the early morning, when the sun was beginning to peak over the horizon, light shades of pinks and reds grazing everything in its path. The birds were slowly stirring, low chirps of greeting, somewhat similar to those of the merchants whom were finalising the opening of their stores down below. It was peaceful. Charming.
"MIYORI-SUUUUUUN~"
A vendor dropped the box he was carrying as the high pitched octave boomed through the walls, reverberating off them in a fashion that would cause ears to possibly ring for hours. The box was not damaged, thankfully, but the shock of the action was still enough to make the owner of the voice wince, mumbling an apology before continuing to run forward, their small feet tripping occasionally on the dangling fabric of their outfit.
"Miyori-suuuun" The owner of the voice tried again, albeit lower this time, their delicate frame huffing and puffing with each breath as they attempted to catch up to the object of their attention, a towering figure still a number of strides ahead, seemingly unbothered by their presence at all.
Nemuri huffed in annoyance this time, flicking her head to the side to allow loose strands of hair to fall back over her shoulder, face lined with a thin bead of sweat and mouth puckered into a small pout. The girl was more than surprised, violently shocked to the point of nearly passing out even, when the painted man had announced they leaving the enclosed, blank white walls of the division to venture into the outside world, into the land of colours and natural sunlight.
But now? Now Nemuri felt nothing but annoyance, and the notion that she should have just stayed at home with the crayons became more appealing by the second. The man continued to move forward, as if she did not exist at all. Maybe she didn't. She certainly didn't feel like it, not with her heart beating so heavily in her chest, and the familiar sensation of light-headedness overtaking her mind. Still though, did her legs continue to move forward, and eventually she reached him, failing to notice it was due to him slowing down and not from her sheer determination.
"Miyori-sun" Her voice was at the lowest it had been the entire day, hours of shrieking in delight at her lab friends from excitement catching up to her. It was not due to fear that she felt towards her companion, no, certainly not. "You said we were going somewhere fUN." She could not stop herself from stomping her foot, not caring how childish she looked. Heh, childish. "This is not fun at all."
Bright eyes glanced upward, emerald irises honing in on the delicate artistry of the thick paint upon his features. They had completely stopped now, still within the centre of the walkway. Her legs buckled a tad, although she was unsure what from. The pinks and reds danced up the walls now, the sun rising higher in the sky. The peace had returned, dying to be broken once more, yet Nemuri did not utter another word, patiently awaiting a response from the man by her side.
Room For Two, Please | Rose + Nemu |
@playkinshara
Pretending to be married because this quaint old couple's bed and breakfast is the only shelter for miles, they only have one room and they're a bit old fashioned.
---
Life has a mysterious way of throwing a metaphorical spanner into the works, and this current predicament was no different.
It was one of your typical routine missions to the surface, investigate the various activities of the living, gather supplies if necessary then return to the Seireitei and relay the information back to the superiors. The only difference in the missions were the ones who underwent them. It was agreed at the previous Captains' meeting that more duties should be shared among the divisions, in order to promote some form of 'unity' and 'inclusion'. This had resulted in higher ups from different sections undertaking actions. This had resulted in their current predicament.
Nemu glanced up at the building before her, watching an already cracked piece of plaster on the exterior crumble into dust as another harsh wind surrounded them, her eyes watering slightly at the sensation. A faded sign swung from recently replaced metal chains, the red letters faintly visible in the grey and white surroundings.
The Lone Rose B&B
Huh. How quaint.
Nemu's nose scrunched a fraction as her vision flicked towards her companion, attempting to take in his reaction through the faint mist of white that was beginning to coat them. It had to be during the Winter period that the Twelfth Lieutenant was selected for this month's routine stop off, despite the grumblings from her painted superior. Not that she was much fonder of the situation, mind you, but at least her counterpart for the trip was somewhat tolerable.
"Rose-san," She paused after using his preferred title, watching with mild interest as her warm breath mingled with the air, a fine line of grey forming as a result. Nemu would have preferred to refer to the Captain more formally, but he had insisted upon it. Always a peculiar one-- "What do you think? It is not as though we have many options..."
The blizzard had taken both of them by surprise, and they had made it so far through the environment before it became too much. The wind was bitter, blistering almost, and the resting place had appeared over the white horizon like a mirage. Nemu was almost convinced it was, or the habitat of rather unsavoury individuals. A bed and breakfast? Seemingly in the middle of nowhere? No one around for miles? Oh yes, definitely a murder hot-spot. The thought made the woman almost giddy, body temperature increasing at the idea by the minute.
Shaking her head, her focus returned to her fair haired companion, awaiting his response. He was still the superior in this situation after all, and the superior's word was almost, almost, always absolute.
Been in hospital, sorry gang.

A commission from @momochiee I wanted to see Yachiru and Nemu doing a little cooking. Yachiru would naturally ask her favorite sister for help, so Nemu is reading the recipe and occasionally using her drill hand to stir things up. They’re having a great time. :)
If you are interested in a commission, @momochiee may still have slots available.

Poison Snake | Sung-Sun + Nemu |
@shimekorose-anakonda
The sand was, surprisingly, cool, despite the sun overhanging in the sky, its bright rays blaring down upon the coarse ground, which spanned on for miles. The silence that accompanied the empty environment would have driven many to insanity, but not Nemu. Nemu was far too used to the silence, to the sound of blood flowing through her body greeting her ears.
Why exactly was she out here again? The Lieutenant mused over the question, bending down to grasp the sand beneath her, knees slightly bowing to deal with the shift in weight. Rolling the sand between lithe digits, a hum sounded through her in response. Captain Kurotsuchi, as he was currently being referred to mentally given his more abrupt than usual attitude earlier, had sent her to this somewhat desolate land to gather samples, to scan the area for any potential subjects. So far, nothing. So far.
Could sand snap? Nemu did not find such a thing possible, yet her ears twitched upon hearing the distinctive sound echo from behind a conveniently placed rock within the seemingly empty area. Had it always been there? Was she finally succumbing to one of those, what were they called, mirages? A figure peaked out from behind it, and Nemu had to raise a hand to shield her eyes in order to make it out. An eye blinking was still the only thing she could decipher. Definitely a mirage.
"If you are here to make trouble," Nemu's voice was hoarse in her throat, a light cough threatening to spill forth as dust and sand particles entered her airways. "Make it quick. And make sure my body is disposed of correctly. This heat will cause severe chemical erosion otherwise."
