An Alchemist sits on the roof of his home, reading the stars after taking his dinner in the night. “L'alchimiste” is a first experimentation for my next illustration series: Fantastic homes.The notion of home, a place where you feel safe and happy is a big inspiration to my work. Be it with family, friends or alone, they are special places that tells the stories of their owner, and you get transported to a new universe each time you enter one of them. I also was very inspired by game designs aesthetics. They have a way to show details and create immersive places with details, light and agencement that I admire a lot!The architecture of the alchemist’s home is a reference to both Sen to chihiro and Howl’s moving castle from Ghibli. The last mentioned animation is based on Alsacian architectures from Colmar, a city next to mine named Strasbourg, in France. I really wanted to give this house an Alsatian feeling, as I really like to add details from this regional imagery. (PS: I may add new illustrations that will accompany this one)Â
