Reader's POV:
"Alright, Emma, we just need to grab some milk and we can head home." I told my two year old daughter as I let go of her hand to examine expiration dates. I found a gallon of milk that looked good and grabbed it.
"Okay sweetheart let's g-. . .Emma?! Emma where are you?!" I spun around and looked down the next aisle and there she was. . .clinging on to a strangers leg. I rushed over and scooped her up.
"Honey! You can't leave mommy like that. You could get hurt." I lectured her while smothering her chubby cheeks with kisses.
"I'm so sorry sir. I don't know what got into her- Derek?" Of course out of all people, my daughter had to choose Derek Hale aka my ex boyfriend, to cling onto.
"Hey, Y/N. How long has it been? Two years?" He asked without breaking eye contact with Emma as he examined her feautures. Oh shit. Please don't notice the resemblance. Please don't notice the resemblance.
"Yeah something like that." I quickly responded.
"Who is this?" He asked. I hesitated and he raised his eyebrows.
"This is, Emma. She's my daughter."
"How old is she?" He asked and I knew he was suspicious. I cleared my throat and looked away.
"She's two years old." I muttered. Emma squirmed in my arms and reached for, Derek.
"Is she- is she mine?" He asked.
"Nope!" I said a little too quickly.
"Did you forget I'm a werewolf, Y/N? I can hear your heartbeat and right now, it's racing. So I'm going to ask again. Is. She. Mine?" I sighed. I guess he was going to find out some day.
"Yes."
"Why didn't you tell me you were pregnant with my baby?! Don't you think that's something I would have wanted to know?!" He said angrily while raising his voice.
"No Derek! Don't you dare put this on me! You acted like you didn't care about me anymore. After we broke up you told me that you were moving to New York with Laura and that was it! I had no way to contact you! You left me completely heartbroken, Derek Hale! Do you think I wanted to raise this child on my own? I was young and terrified. I wanted you to be there for me but you left. YOU left Derek, not me! So don't go around playing the victim when it's clearly the other way around!" I walked off after my outburst with tears pouring down my face. I got into my car and drove home with, Emma.
"Mommy, you 'kay?" I quickly wiped my tears and smiled.
"Mommy is fine sweetie." Or at least I hope I'll be.
*That same night*
*Knock Knock*
"Coming!" I shouted and went to open the door. As soon as I saw who it was I tried to slam it but a foot stepped in my way.
"Y/N, please. I want to talk." Derek pleaded from my doorway.
"Fine. Talk."
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I left you without a trace. That wasn't fair but please understand that I was going through a tough time and I didn't mean for you to suffer for it. I'm sorry I wasn't there for you through the pregnancy or the last two years of our daughters life. I don't want to miss anymore than I already have. Please, Y/N? Give me a chance to be the father she deserves?" A couple of minutes ago I was ready to kick his ass to the curb. But now? It's like I fell in love with him all over again.
"Emma." I said and he looked at me confused.
"Our daughters name is, Emma." I explained and a bright smile burst onto his face. I couldn't help but giggle.
"Does this mean-" He started to ask.
"One more chance, Hale. That's all you get." All of a sudden he wrapped his arms around me and held me tight while peppering kisses across my face.
"Mommy?" Came Emma's sweet voice. I picked her up and handed her to Derek. He took her from me and I could have swore I saw a tear roll down his cheek as he looked at his daughter with adoration.
"Hi, Emma. I'm your daddy."
