Reflection in first quarter
There are many topics that were thought to us by our teacher in MIL,lessons such as Types of Media,Types of sources of information, etc. But the most important lesson I learned is the topic about Finding the Validity,Accuracy and Credibility of Information.
There are many challenges that I have encountered one of it is passing the quizzes and other performance task in time. It is hard for me to pass it on time because I am only using a cell phone for our classes and research so there's only limited things I can do unlike computers. Also my internet connection is not that fast and I sometimes disconnect in our classes. I hope that this pandemic will soon come to an end because I want to see and interact with my friends again.
"Language is the source of misunderstandings."
â Antoine de Saint-ExupĂ©ry (1900 â 44)
The first step in becoming media and information literate is to understand how information, ideas and meaning are communicated through and by various media and other information providers, such as libraries, archives, museums, indigenous media, and the Internet. Each medium has its own âlanguageâ or âgrammarâ that works to convey meaning in a unique way. In order to effectively locate, evaluate, and incorporate a wide variety of information into our knowledge base we must understand what media literacy is and why it is important for students to learn this skill.
Media and information languages means the technical and symbolic ingredients or codes and conventions that media and information professionals may select and use in an effort to communicate ideas, information and knowledge.
Technical codes are all the ways in which equipment is used to tell the story in a media text, for example the camera work in a film.
Symbolic codes show what is beneath the surface of what we see. For example, a character's actions show you how the character is feeling.

What is media? for me media is a way or a device that can help you access information easily. Using media helps us to know almost everything about our society without media who knows what will happen. There are different types of media (print media, broad cast media, film/cinema, video games/digital games, and new media) these types of media have higher impact for those who use this and sometimes it also becomes an addiction for them.
Students must learn information literacy. why? Its because having a knowledge in this field will help the students recognize that not all information is created equal. For example, contents and other informations in the internet continually grows, but not all informations that you see is credible. This means that there is a lot of bad information to sort through when conducting a research. It's not always easy to determine which are credible and which are not. This is why learning information literacy is important because it helps the students gain knowledge and be prepared to find the data that they need for any task in life.

WE LIVE IN AN ERA WHERE MEDIA IS HEAVILY INFLUENCING OUR DAILY LIVES.
In todayâs world, millions of people rely on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, YouTube, Instagram, and Google to find information and connect with each other. While each has its benefits, it also has a negative effects. We can't blame ourselves if we get addicted on social media because not only it helps us communicate and make new friends it also helps us entertain ourselves and helps us get informations easily. But it is important to rember that social media can never be a replacement for real-world human connection. Ironically for a technology thatâs designed to bring people closer together, spending too much time engaging with social media can actually make you feel more lonely and isolated and exacerbate mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.

"The media's the most POWERFUL entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and thatâs power. Because they CONTROL the minds of the masses."
-Malcolm X
Here is a short reflection of what I learned in MIL
Im Mark Jullius E. Temblor
And this is me in my past.
I regret nothing in my life even if my past is full of hurt, I still look back and smile, because it made me who I am today.
