A grin shines upon their face. “Thanks!” Generic, but what else is one to say to someone who compliments your name? Truth be told, Quinn wasn’t sure if that name was given to her by her parents, or by the Scientists at the facility. All she remembers is being reminded of her name nearly everyday for a few months. Even so, she liked her named, and was happy to receive it, whether it be from them or her parents. Dropping their arm back to their side, she grabbed at the ragged fabric of her trousers, pulling it at slightly, attempting to twist it round her fingers, an old habit, it would seem. “Kyrie, huh? Ky~rie~!” She sung in a playful manner. “I like your name, too!”
Upon the mention of yesterday, the smile dropped from their face, and the twisting of fabric turn into gripping it into a fist. Flashes fill her mind, the feeling of blood splattered against the walls, her clothing, her face. The remains crushed against the walls and floor, the beauty of nature smeared with the insides of men. The thought sends shivers down their spine, and the memory draws cold sweat from their skin. “Y-yeah… I.. I wish I could say I didn’t know what I was doing.” Her eyes avoided contact, she was ashamed of herself. “I forgot what it felt like to have that sort of freedom. I… feel the Earth. All around us, I feel it moving, living. To feel that so intensely… to have it just out of my reach…” Her words make her wince. “It’s not that I wanted them dead!” The corners of her eyes shine with liquid residue that brims over her lower lids. “Or.. maybe it is.”
"it doesn’t matter now, anyway. As long as we keep our distance from them, nothing like that will have to happen again." Her companion probably thought she was nothing but a murderer, a sicko, a freak. Death may have been avoidable, if they hadn’t reacted so fast, maybe. Her mind drifted in an attempt to find a new topic. "What about the others? The ones we escaped with…" Eyes reverted back to the gaze of Kyrie. "Do you think they’re ok right now? I can’t help but be worried for them."
"Hm." And her thoughts trail off to far off places. "I should think so, yes." She says, somewhat absent-mindedly. "They both looked like they had things under control, you know? I have a feeling the girl with the blonde hair had things under control-- at least, I'd like to think she did. She kinda had those eyes, ones that tell you it's okay." And she laughs a bit, laughs airily, much like the wind that trails across the edge of valleys and circles freely through the air. "--Sorry, that must have sounded strange." It's written with a fine pen across her face; the mild tinge of embarrassment that creeps up from her own choice of wording in the form of a simple, but extended smile.
"I wonder what powers they have. I didn't get the chance to see either of them, but I think to cause an escape like that, they must be pretty cool." Her expression turns a shade of thoughtful, descending into a calm, tranquil state before before continuing. "But you know, your power is pretty awesome-- No, scratch that, it was amazing!" With one of those smiles that beam across galaxies. She suddenly becomes animated, arm movements and one of those almost -but not quite lifting off the ground- jumps. And she looks up, looks over, looks across the sky, almost as if she can see pictures--fast forwarded into a movie at the destructive--but beautiful power that sprouted like buds from her companion's mind. And she's babbling on about this and that, and the way this happened and the way they escaped through one chute and out from another. "---at was incredible! I don't think I would have been able to escape without your help. I'm really grateful." The crescendo of momentary excitement subsides and falls into the silence.
"...So, don't worry about it, alright?" It's with a sincere tone that she speaks; volumes, libraries, silently detailing the truth's within spoken word. And not a flutter of fear, nor resentment, not anything within a mile of disgust shows in physical form. "I understand. It must have been quite a rush, right? Like when you drink from one of those slushies during a hot summer's day and you end up getting that funny feeling inside your head. I think it's kinda nice, though." She stops short. "S-Sorry, I've talked a lot." Cue in a soft giggle and a small shrug.
