something i adore about toi (i love everything about toi) is his extremely one-sided view of love. ive talked briefly on twitter before about how he treats ryui like his oshi, but i think it goes further than that. toi has lived his life being worshipped, and thus the only way he knows how to give love in return is to worship. the relationship between a god and a believer is unequal after all, and by placing ryui on a pedestal, he’s able to make more sense of their relationship with each other.

yet toi yearns for reciprocal love. he feels insecure in his sibling-ship with ryui, which is why he’s always testing him. i just reread as master joe wishes haha so i think that’s what stood out to me. i dont think he actually wanted ryui to leave joe in danger, he just wanted the reassurance.

and even beyond ryui! toi tries to make friends! with ten! with ushio! his unit mates! hell, even aachama.

this also dovetails into l4mps’s general theme of happiness. toi’s lived a life where his happiness has always been decided for him: through his family, and even ryui to an extent. but through building reciprocal relationships he’s learning how to love in a more healthy way.

generally: tasuku fell first and harder. he’s down bad for tsumugi but doesn’t realize it. both of them Need to be told by someone else that the way they act around each other is not in fact within typical platonic boundaries but tasuku discovers this first while tsumugi goes through an Am I Gay? crisis (spoiler: he’s bi)
