Lady beamed, glad that she had done a good job of gift giving. She listened with interest as Fawn described what she did, and couldn’t control this disapproving scowl that crossed her lovely features. “That is not what you do on you’re birthday," Lady scolded. She stood up and walked so that she could meet Fawn’s gaze in the mirror, and crossed her arms as she stood there. “Well, have you even checked to see if you won anything? I mean, don’t they pick numbers once a week or something…" She asked, trailing off since she wasn’t completely sure how something like that worked.
"Well, there wasn't much else for me to do," Fawn replied hopenstly. "It's not like I could just go back home for a day." She shrugged in response to Lady's last question. "I watched the beginnin' of it, but the first number was 46." She paused to think about it. "It was one of my numbers, but I think they all have to be in order. I dunno. I probably should have read the rules." Fawn didn't really think about the matter as she buttoned a pair of denim high waisted shorts and looked in the mirror. "What do ya think of this outfit?" She asked, placing her hand on her hip as she turned to face Lady.

Lady grinned as Fawn looked through the box, pleased with herself that she had picked out the right clothes. Lady looked at Fawn curiously when she mentioned buying out a store. “Well, almost. When I was home, I visited the Lucky store and basically bought one of everything in your size, and then a few necklaces and bracelets too," she explained, as if it were the most obvious answer in the world. “I’m just so glad you like them," she said truthfully as she sat back down on her bed and watched Fawn play dress up in her mirror for a few moments. “Well, are you going to tell me what you did for the big day, or leave me to play the guessing game?" She asked with a smirk. “I feel awful that I wasn’t here, I hope you’ll forgive me. We’ll have to go out and get ice cream or something soon."
"Really? That store's so nice," Fawn said as she held up a pair of brown leather Jeffrey Campbells with daisy cutouts. "You know me so well," she beamed. As she began to dress herself in the new clothing, she explained her less than exciting birthday. "Well, I didn't really do anything. Around midnight I went to a convenient store and bought a Black and Mild." Fawn scrunched up her features for a moment. "Not my cup a' tea. Oh," she added, "and I bought myself a lottery ticket." She stood up in the shoes and looked into the mirror, smiling widely at the reflection before sifting through the various tops, looking for the right bustier to go with.

Lady smiled at her friend and laughed lightly. “I like to be busy. It keeps my mind off dull things." She then listened intently to her friend as she took a seat on her freshly made bed, raising her eyebrows at the news of what happened the night before. “Oh? And, may I ask why you slapped Dixie in the first place?" She wasn’t mad at Fawn, but she was very curious. Lady sighed, and nodded in agreement before sitting up very straight and looking at Fawn. “But this is your birthday week, it can’t be dull!" She then sprang off her bed and went to her closet, where she fought to get a very large box out of it. Once it was free, she carried it over to her bed with a large grin on her face. “Here!" She told Fawn. “I didn’t wrap it, because I can’t wrap things this big…but I hope you like all of it."

Fawn shrugged, still playing with the ends of her auburn hair. "Because she slept with Herc while I was gone. I dunno. I was drunk and she gets on my nerves. Well, she did. I said we were even after I slapped her." Her head jerked up when Lady handed her a large box, and Fawn was surprised at the weight of the box when she took it. "What did you buy a whole store?" she laughed before opening the box to find a variety of clothes and shoes and accessories. Her face lit up at all the cute clothes, picking up each thing and holding it up to get a good look at them. "These are all.. I love em! Gosh, Lady, you went all out. Thank you, they're gorgeous." Her smile was wide with excitement as she kept looking through the box. "You didn't have to do all this, ya know," she said. "But I love that ya did. WAit--" Fawn stood up, grabbing the box in all its contents and placed it near the full length mirror and began to try on the clothes she'd been given.

Lady, as always, had woken up at eight o’clock on the dot. She had spent the majority of her morning with her eight month old puppy, Duchess, which meant that she wasn’t getting ready for her day until late in the morning. She was at her bathroom sink, putting the finishing touches on her makeup, when she heard a familiar voice in her room. “I’ve been busy all week!" She called back as she fixed a minor flaw and then stood back, making sure everything was flawless before walking into her room. She gave one of her closest friends a wide smile as she walked over to her desk. “I was actually home at the beginning of the week, my mom was having some panic attack about something, but I’m obviously back now. And, what do you mean? Did someone really throw a fourth of July party?"
She let out a small laugh. "You're always busy," she replied, "I dunno what you're always doin', but you're always doin' something." She turned and looked at Lady as she explained her week. "Uh, yeah sorta. Not really a party," Fawn explained. "Dixie has a small gettogether. I went because, well, no other plans. It was just like, five people," she explained, before chuckling. "I slapped Dixie 'cross the face. And then we hugged. It was weird. But I liked slappin' her. And that Eilonwy girl got drunk and was crazy." Fawn sat up straight on Lady's bed and played with the ends of her hair. "This week has been really dull."

After feeling like she hadn't seen her friend in a while, Fawn made her way to Lady's room and let herself into the room. "Mornin'," she called out before plopping on the small, empty bed. "Where the heck were ya yesterday?" She called over to Lady, who she assumed was in the bathroom getting ready for the day. The brunette stared up at the ceiling as she waited for Lady to come out. "You missed a really boring gatherin' last night," she added with a chuckle.
Adventures in Food | Scat & Fawn
"Well merci, mademoiselle," he nodded, still smiling. “The name’s Scat, Scat Cat. I don’t scat but it rhymed with cat so that’s why people call me that," he shrugged. The origin of his nickname is actually unknown to him; he just remembered one day he was and now is called Scat by his group. “And may I have the name in which I should call you, dame?" he asked her sweetly.  Scat was glad that his little joke wasn’t taken the wrong way; he he needed all the friends he could get now that he was a long ways away from home. From the light blush that dusted her cheeks, he thought he started off on the wrong footing. It wasn’t until she actually asked to join did he let out a breath he didn’t even realize he was holding.
"Well of course you can, Miss Pecan," he nodded and paused his playing to look around the room, “Of course if you can find a seat, it appears to be a difficult feat."  A jest, considering the entire room was completely empty, minus the two of them. “Come have a sit, do you also play an instrument?" he inquired. There was a plethora of instruments around him: stringed, brass, percussion; but he has yet to meet anyone to jam with. Maybe they’re all taking care of their babies, he raised his eyebrows in confusion. When he first arrived to his dorm room, he heard a baby cry from one of the doors but thought nothing of it. It wasn’t until he walked further down when heard even more cries. Either everyone watches the same TV or Disney Prep is riddled with teen parents, which he still deemed unlikely. “I don’t mean to creep but I’d like to later sleep. What’s the deal with them crying babies? They’ve popped up as daisies," he chuckled.
Fawn let out a faint chuckle at his rhyme, and at first she wondered if it was just a coincidence, but then as he continued to speak she heard that everything the stranger said rhymed. The fact made her smile a bit bigger. It was entertaining, to say the least. "I'm Fawn," she answered, and for a split second she attempted to think of something that rhymed with her name, but the only thing that came to her mind was lawn, and she didn't want to seem as if she was trying too hard. After all, she had already interrupted his playing time.Â
Her smile grew at another one of his rhymes as she sat down. "You're really good at rhymin', too," she said, her southern drawl apparent in her words. "Oh," she began, trying to think of the days when she played instruments. "I used to play guitar a bit; just chords, really. And piano. But that was a while back, before my--" she cut herself off at the subject before recovering quickly with, "before I was ten." A small burst of laughter left her lips at his question, shaking her head a bit before answering. "There's this project in Home Ec, where everyone has to take care of a fake baby. We all got paired up and everythin'. I got a lil' boy. And.." she let out an exasperated sigh, "I hate it. Or more, it hates me. It would always cry when I touched it. But he's with his 'daddy' now, thank god." Her eyes refocused on him and his guitar. "So, Scat, how long have you been here, darlin'? I haven't seen ya before," she explained.
This thing hates me
An easy grade? You’re joking right. It’s a computer. It doesn’t translate into living. No matter what you do, it is going to behave how it was programmed.
I am ready to take them apart.Â
Well yeah. I know now.Â
If this was only my project I'd let you, but Figaro would probably pitch a fit.
This thing hates me
And this is why you shouldn’t have done that project and I wouldn’t want to kill anyone with one.
I thought it would be fun, and an easy grade. I mean, I'm good -- no, I'm great-- with animals. So I thought this would be no different. But it is. Way different.
This thing hates me
It cried all night for the past two nights. Where is the baby's daddy when I need it? I'm so done with this project.
Six Little Numbers || Closed
It was a Wednesday night, and fawn had particularly nothing to do except to care for her fake baby. Once it had fallen asleep, Fawn decided she'd read a book. Grabbing the one on her nightstand, she opened it up to the bookmarked page. The bookmark fell down onto her lap lightly, catching her eye. Picking it up, she saw the little PowerBall lottery ticket she had gotten just a few days before. 08, 18, 30, 33, 46, and 02. The first five were in numerical order, except for the two that was in a red circle. She grimaced at the birthday gift she had bought herself before remembering that the clerk had told her she'd find out Wednesday if she'd won. Fawn let out a small chuckle, wondering why she even bothered in the first place. However, it was late and she couldn't get her mind to focus on the book, and so she carefully took the sleeping simulator in its carrier out to the lounge room.
The empty room was silent, and she tiptoed over to the tv to turn it on quietly and crawl onto the couch. "Let's see what lucky guy won this thing," she cooed to her sleeping infant. Flicking through the channels, she finally found the powerball, and they were just about to begin. It was a surprisingly huge production, what with the showgirls reaching in and grabbing a numbered ball with a smile plastered on their faces. It caused for the girl to squint her eyes a bit at the pearly smile, the brightness at a late hour too much for her tired eyes.
"Our first number is, 46," the spokesperson announced. Her eyes glanced down to her ticket. Her first number was 08. She already lost; not that she had really expected to win anything. She didn't even really know anything about the whole lottery thing, it didn't make sense to the new adult. With a sigh, she flicked off the screen and grabbed the carrier, walking back to her room in silence. When she crawled back into bed, Fawn pulled the covers up right under her chin and exhaled, "please don't wake me up tonight," to the baby.
Adventures in Food | Scat & Fawn
Of all the things that this school had to offer, Scat Cat was most elated with the music room. The cafeteria was a close second but nothing could compare to the fine acoustics in this very classroom. He loved running his fingers along the guitar strings and listen to the subtle harmony. Even though he was perfectly content with playing his guitar anywhere, there’s just something euphoric listening to each note in a room such as this. Scat smiled and picked up the guitar and ran his fingers along the mahogany neck. Truth be told, his own guitar feels more tuned to him but that didn’t mean he couldn’t appreciate an expensive one such as this.
He started fingering the notes of his go-to song: Wonderwall. It was the first song he had learned on guitar. "Today is going to be the day that they’re gonna throw it back to you," he quietly sang. Scat smiled and looked up in awe when the walls add the natural reverberate. As he lost himself in the music, he subconsciously started to sing louder, not noticing anyone come in.It wasn’t until he felt someone watching, he switched up the tune and started to sing his only diddy.
"If you want a listen, it’s a fee, at least introduce yourself, you see?"
He looked up at his new guest and gave them a catty grin. “Hello there."
Fawn decided to take advantage of the time she had without the fake baby, and went walking around the campus. Not really having any specific destination in mind, the girl wandered around aimlessly, peering in various buildings to see if anything was going on. Almost all were empty, jsut as she expected for a July summer day. It wasn't until she had passed by the music room that she heard any signs of life. The faint sound of a guitar strumming caused Fawn to jerk her head towards the door, a brow raising out of curiosity. Part of her thought it was Berlioz playing around; he was the only real musical one she had met at the school as of yet. Tip toeing, she slipped into the room only to be surprised by the red mop-top holding a guitar, facing away from her.
Her lips curled up in a smile as he began to sing confidently, as if he were performing for a crowd. When the stranger looked up at her, Fawn stopped in her tracks, not realizing until just then that she probably gave off a stalker vibe. Wiggling her fingers in a wave, she smiled, slightly embarrased. "Hiya," she replied, "I didn't mean to interrupt. I was.. I was just wanderin' around and I heard someone playin' the guitar. You're really good, darlin'," the girl complimented. She stood there a moment before stepping closer and pulling a chair. "You mind if I join?" she asked before sitting down, across from him.
So either I'm a single dad or your mama's just lazy.
[laughs as the baby starts crying] Okay, first off, stop freaking out. Second, try the pacifier in the diaper bag. [gestures to the bag] I dear with this all last night.
I can't stop freakin' out, it's a cryin baby! [baby cries louder as she fumbles through the diaper bag] Stupid... small... pacifier, I can't-- found it! [sticks it in the baby's mouth and it begins to calm down] Thank god... I dont think he likes me.
So either I'm a single dad or your mama's just lazy.
You’re the mom, so of course you can. [smiles and hands her the baby]
[smiles, grabbing the baby from him] Hey there Adrien, ya lil' cutie, yeah mama's here--- [cut off by sudden wailing of the child, and her eyes go wide like a dear in the headlights] What do I do?! Why's it cryin' so loud oh my gosh what do I do?!
So glad
Rosetta. A perfect match, right? [shakes his head] Doesn’t matter I haven’t even had to hold the thing.Â
Oh dear. Wait, I have Figaro. They'll probably have the babies together the entire time, then. That's not so bad. I do have to take it tonight, though..
So either I'm a single dad or your mama's just lazy.
What about…aw shit. Um…Adrien?
Awh, that's a cute name! Sure, Adrien it is then. Can I hold him? [smiles]
