soooooo it's me, back again with a FOURTH MUSE bc i'm a glutton for having a ton to do ๐ญ but i literally could not help it okay, i won't take responsibility!! anyway, i'm so proud to introduce u to best girl grey kingsley, an escape room designer who lived in south korea as a child due to her military mama being stationed there and has now moved back bc she really loved it!! as usual, there are some facts about her below and if you're interested in plotting with grey, pls do hit the heart!
born in 1999 to a mother who was an off-duty marine at the time and a father who was a chef in malibu, california.
grey was only able to spend a few short months at home with her mom before it was time for the latter to get back to the grind, being put on assignment in puerto rico, but thankfully she was able to bring her family along to live on the base with her.
the family was only there for about a year before grey's mom was once again reassigned, this time to a base in south korea.
they spent many of grey's formative years in the country, with grey being able to learn the language far more easily than her parents due to being a little sponge.
while at first, she was very much a fish out of water at her school, she ended up blending in fairly well with a kind and respectful demeanor. she was far more intrigued with the school's focus on learning new technologies than ever getting in any kind of trouble.
she found a great passion for coding in c++ and python especially, while dabbling in a few other programming languages as well. being able to learn the skills at such a young age was instrumental in shaping grey's future.
at age 12, she finally won her first coding competition in suwon with a nifty sorting algorithm and it was at that distinct moment that she knew her future was in the coding field.
she especially loved games; not only was she passionate about coding, she was fairly adept at design as well. she knew precisely how she wanted everything to look and would spend days if not weeks of precious hours getting it that way. her true love was pixel games โ ones with the nostalgic, digitized appearance. pokemon, classic final fantasy, chrono trigger; they were all inspirations to her art style.
right after grey turned 13, she got the gut-wrenching news that her family would once again be relocating back to california. having to say goodbye to her friends and teachers was an agonizing yet fortifying experience, but she had resolved to come back the first chance she got.
she'd desperately wanted that chance to be her enrollment to college, but her mother pushed her towards the sorority life at ucla which did nothing but make her miserable for 4 years and incur tons of student debt.
once she'd gotten her degree in game design however, she was on the lookout for any job in the industry she could take on in the country. she didn't care what she had to do; she'd even be a dreaded quality tester.
after having no luck in traditional video game design, she stumbled across a unique opportunity in seoul. they were seeking someone to design escape rooms: from creating the puzzles, to designing room layouts and coding different interfaces and mechanisms to further things along. it wasn't exactly how she'd pictured utilizing her degree in the real world, but she wasn't going to turn away a chance to go back home.
thankfully, the company accepted her application and she was brought on board, trying to spare any expense she could in the move. she found an affordable living space at gyeogang street lofts that was within walking distance of her workplace, and despite not getting any help from her parents due to their disapproval of her relocation, things began to fall into place rather quickly!
personality wise: an absolute sweetheart with big ideas and good intentions, but also a romanticist that can have unrealistic expectations and ambitions. her resourcefulness has gotten her this far, but there are certainly obstacles she won't be able to sweet-talk her way out of. starry-eyed but with an analytical mind. likes to approach things from a problem-solving perspective even if solving the problem is hopeless.
important things to note: she is honey-obsessed!! she wants it in her coffee, her tea, her food, her skincare, her makeup, her shower products; she loves the scent and it makes her melt every time. she also knows how to play the concertina (somewhat). she forced herself to learn after hearing kiss me by sixpence none the richer ๐ญ
