Uhm. I guess I had to leave my humble contribution for Hope&Lightning Week 2022, and of course what would you expect from your resident angst-lover Meowth.

And then the damn chapter of DFFOO had to come in Japan and made things worse. (Here you have the story cutscenes and the translation, for reference.)

So, aye, bastards throwing any shred of subtlety out of the window after nearly 10 years. Wonders never sees. Not that I am complaining though—keep it coming.

Hey Ryu, I got a question about the "tensai" in your username. I'm relearning kanji and was taught the reading for tensai rather recently, but I'm confused because it was labeled as a noun. Can you use "tensai" as an adjective too?

Yup, it's a noun, just like "genius" is in English.

You can't use it as an adjective for the same reasons that you can't use "genius" as one. For example:

He is handsome and a genius. 彼はイケメンで天才だ。(Kare ha ikemen de tensai da.)

He is handsome and smart. 彼はイケメンで頭が良い。(Kare ha ikemen de atama ga ii.)

Within a sentence, tensai might appear in the same position as an adjective, but it is a noun. Just like in English. :D

But if you add 的 (teki) at the end, then it becomes an adjective, as with most nouns in Japanese.

He possess a genius-like brain. 彼は天才的な頭脳の持ち主。(Kare ha tensai-teki na zunou no mochinushi.)

Hi there. I am working on a mod for Lightning Returns which aims to add in correct translations to the English subtitles for majority of the story mode cutscenes when using Japanese voice overs. Its clear that the game suffers from subpar translation and it all gets somewhat messier when played with Japanese voice overs /English subtitles. I had come across your Cutscene translation blogs and would like to use the translations in my mod. Do I have your permission in using them ?

Hey, I noticed you haven't posted in a while, just wondering how you're doing

I'm alive. But honestly, the past two years have been rough, as I'm sure it has been for everyone too.

I'll spare you the details. Basically, I don't have the time or the energy to be in the fandom or do anything that I want to do. Most nights now, I never even open my laptop. It sucks. It really sucks. I hate it. Just hoping that things will get better.

As for the scanlations, I'm not quitting. I spent waaay too much money and effort in them to simply drop everything. lol Perhaps I should get someone to assist me after all. I've always dismissed the idea, but if someone is willing to work at my slow pace, I suppose that could help.

Tbh, Armin should have said ”Thank you, for becoming our Devil.” It would have sounded much better. Its good Eren didn’t get a happy ending. Him getting a happy ending after what he did, would send a pretty bad message. If his mental state was not completly broken after the rumbling, it would make him look like a legit psycopath.

There's a few things from the ending that I would've changed. Not saying it was horrible, but yeah - it was obvious that Yams wasn't originally planning for it, so the chapter wasn't as "clean" as the rest of the story.

・ I think Eren and Armin's final conversation should've been mostly silent. We didn't need that many explanations. I think it would've been more impactful if Eren had simply taken Armin through the Paths and shown him the beauty of the world as well as the memories that served as catalysts to Eren's current state. Armin would gradually realize what Eren is going through. While he wouldn't agree with it, he will hug Eren at the end and, like you said, thank him for becoming their devil. Then Eren would smile and speak for the first time: "I'm leaving the rest to you. Take care of Mikasa." And disappear.

・ The explanation about Ymir's feelings for King Fritz was unnecessary. It should've been left alone. The readers' could try to decipher the meaning behind Ymir's final smile for years after the series ended. There's enough material for good theories in the previous chapters. That's one of Isayama-sensei's bad habits: he tries to provide explanations that are often unneeded.

・ Finally, I would've liked some of the survivors to still harbor ill will towards Eren. Like Annie, for example. It felt quite unrealistic for everyone to suddenly forgive Eren and cry for him because they regained their memories of their private talk with him.

Tbh, I was more afraid Levi would end up Alive, depressed and Alone. Happy I was wrong. Also notice how Gabi and Falco is kinda like, Isabel and Farlan.

I was also afraid of that. I would've hated it more than him dying, honestly. I'm so happy that he got a proper, peaceful ending to his incredible story.

It makes me super happy too that he's with Gabi and Falco. Kind of an unexpected place for him to settle down, but they'll take good care of him for sure. Gabi and Falco will most likely get married. They'll have children and Levi will be surrounded by a new, loving family with little "brats" who call him Uncle Levi or maybe even Gramps. lolol

Hi! Have you ever seen any fan content of Serah and Snow's potential wedding? It's a shame the devs never even mentioned anything about it, not even in the last novel. Over 1000 years and still nothing. I like to think Light was at the French countryside in LR to attend their wedding. Kudos!

I agree. Snow and Serah really had such a wholesome relationship and I would've liked a proper conclusion to it. It's too bad that a lot of stuff like that was cut in the end. orz

Yeah that's fake. It's been going around since DDD.

I know Lightning wasn't in KH3, but I was curious if they were planning on putting her in there at some point.

I don't think we got any official word about Lightning in any of the KH games, unfortunately. I was pretty bummed that there weren't any new FF characters in KH3 too. :\
