Palworld: The Power of Friendship
Person who's never actually played Palworld: It's just teen level edgy for the sake of being edgy and relies too heavily on being Pokemon With Guns.
People actually playing Palworld: This is my pink sheep, it is very sweet, because it is cotton candy. This is my brown sheep. It smells sweet, but is actually bitter, because it's coffee. I have decided to turn them into Gods.
Just thinking about what the roots of chaos series has to say about religion. How it continues to insist that when it is a personal devotion to something that gives you guidance and purpose in a chaotic world that it is beautiful. How it also insists that when it is structured to govern and control a population that it can so quickly turn sour. We see so clearly through the books that Virtuedom was created out of layers of deception and used as tool to empower a select few. But to characters like Loth, Meg, and Wulf, who are open minded and good hearted, the virtues guide and comfort them, push them to be their best selves. Despite the brutal and realistic flaws baked into the different religions in the series, it also takes time to show that its not the belief in something greater that's harmful, it's the abuse of those systems. As an ex-religious person, I just find it to be a very lovely and nuanced take.
“So what did you think of that film/book?”
I actually really enjoyed it. So much so that It’s all I think about now. Anything remotely similar to it becomes a reference. My friends won’t hear me shut up about it. As soon as I finished it I searched for posters to put on my wall. I also went on social media directly after finishing it to find edits and fanart. I’ve began pestering my friends to watch/read it too. Thank you so much for asking so I could continue to talk about it. I don’t want to stop talking about it.
just finished the priory of the orange tree and i have to admit something
this is how i pictured niclays every time
the priory of the orange tree is like the perfect fantasy book, it has everything: good worldbuilding, a thought-through magic system, dragons, pirates, gay people, a religion built on a lie slowly crumbling in front of your eyes...
Halfway through The Priory of the Orange Tree and the funniest thing about the queerness of the book is that the world is generally not homophobic except for one person who needs to be straight in order for her religion to work, and folks you’ll never guess who’s gay.
