“Oh you’re just being nice. I look like a took a tumble down Regent street during one of their after Christmas sales!” She laughs and tries to smooth her hair somewhat.
She nods at his last statement and takes his arm looking at him curiously. She has some major suspicions going through her head.
The Doctor chuckles and rolls his eyes. “Relax, Sally,” he offers. He looks at Sally and lips twitch in a smile. “You always look nice,” he adds quietly. Although it was not like him to express affection, the sentiment was still there. However, the brief moment was gone and he once again found himself staring blankly ahead as they headed toward the restaurant.
He did not speak until they got there, telling the waitress their reservation. “I hope you like Thai food,” he offers with a small smile,
The compliment struck her in her stomach and she could feel it settle just below her ribcage. Something was definitely going on. Her heart started to race, her hair stood up on end, and pupils dilated. He had asked her to go with him to a pub as ‘mates’ and now he was being overly chivalrous. He wanted something.
“Right, yes, Thai is nice,” She muttered cautiously, absentmindedly. Sally felt like she was being led into some kind of a trap.
The Doctor had a bit of laughter rumble in his throat. This poor woman looked like she could not see where his kindness was coming from. Maybe he was too much of a prick at times. That was only a maybe.
He held the door open for her and allowed her to walk in. He kept a hand loosely on her back as the hostess guided them to the table. The Doctor instantly picks up the menu, trying to be absorbed in it. He was not quite sure if he was ready to discuss everything just yet.
“What looks good to you, Sally?” he asks from behind the menu.
