Maximus is one *handsome* dude. Don't you agree?!
This little heartthrob knows no strangers. He talks with a sweet and soulful voice, and will have quite the conversation with you if you respond. His loud, nonstop purr and hearty head butts are endearing, and when you pick him up, he relaxes and drapes himself over your arm, nuzzling into your shoulder, letting out peeps of satisfaction. His life prior to Tenth Life was uncertain and unjust. His people divorced and while one human moved, the other dumped him and two other cats outside. While his siblings found homes, Maximus remained, abandoned and alone. He continued to see his former house, his former person, but remained locked out of his home, unwanted. He was kicked and terrorized by neighborhood kids, and the person who put him out reportedly hit him with her car, causing his tail to go limp for the past 6 months. His tail was amputated in Sept., and though he's 9 years old, Maximus is full of energy. This handsome boy wants to be around you... in your lap and rubbing you with his face. Maximus is pure sweetness, and needs very much to be acknowledged and reassured. He has been through a lot in his life, and he deserves to finally find a special home where he will be given the attention he needs.

Most of us cannot imagine life without our beloved pets. However, many people, like those we visit through our Tenth Life Cat Companions therapy program, are in situations where they cannot have furred family members of their own. We are so honored to be able to bring the love and comfort that only a cat can give to those who need it most. Find out how you can become a part of this important outreach program by contacting us at [email protected] Or, help support the program through your generous donations.

It's still frigid here in St. Louis, and we need YOUR help preparing our community's feral cats for the next cold snap. This Friday at Koken Art Factory (thank you, Koken!), we will be assembling simple little houses for kitties living outdoors to help protect them from the elements. Then, we will share the houses with people caring for feral kitties in their communities. How can YOU help? Easy!
1. Donate supplies for our project (Rubbermaid totes, Styrofoam, straw, box cutters). Drop-offs occur tomorrow (Tues.) and Thurs. (Details on the flyer) 2. Volunteer with us on Friday, 5-8pm, to construct the shelters. 3. Help distribute shelters around town on Sat. morning! 4. Share this post & the flyer (below). If you plan to donate or volunteer with us, please send an email with your planned donation material and amount (or your available time to volunteer) to [email protected] so we know what to expect. If you prefer, you can donate so that we may purchase supplies for building, and we'll do the shopping for you! Thank you!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! B O C E L L I & C E C E L I A !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remember these sad little kittens? Look what they've grown into!
Their Story... Bocelli and Cecelia arrived at an animal control with horrible eye infections. A kind volunteer contacted Tenth Life and they were placed in our care in mid-July.
Bocelli’s (orange kitty) right eye surgically removed on Tue July 30, 2013 as it was no longer viable and was causing him great pain. Since it was removed, this little boy has not stopped! Bocelli bounced back quickly and his true personality is showing everyday. He romps and wrestles and plays and plays. He enjoys the company of this sister, Cecelia and foster siblings, Brownie and Shortcake. He does like older kitties who are kind to him. His other eye is being monitored closely do to a corneal ulcer. If the ulcer heals, he will be able to keep the eye, and it does have some vision. It is does not, it will need to be enucleated as well.
Cecelia (gray kitty) has one perfect eye and one that will most likely need to be enucleated. It appears that she does not have vision in that one eye and it is being monitored closely. For the moment, the swelling has decreased tremendously and it appears not be causing her any pain. Cecelia is very soft and fluffy and is a bit timid. But she loves to play with toys and will play with string toys with her humans. Cecelia gives in to being snuggles. She enjoys the company of her brother, Bocelli and foster siblings, Brownie and Shortcake. She tolerates the kindness of other cats. But with gentle introductions, she may grow to like them.
BOTH have been around two large dogs and other cats in their foster home. They will be available for adoption November 2013, as they need to complete their FVRCP boosters (three vaxs, four weeks apart), rabies, spay/neuter and microchip.
It would be fantastic for Cecelia and Bocelli to be adopted together, and Tenth Life’s policy is kittens (six months and younger) are adopted in pairs or for their new home to have a resident cat. Kittens need another kitty to play with, otherwise, they get lonely, bored and will become destructive. We want happy kitties!
approx DOB June 2013
Both are good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats. [email protected] [email protected]

Soli is one of my very favorite Tenth Life cats! She's sassy and knows her own mind. Her snaggle tooth makes her very special! Sweet Soli was brought to one of our partner veterinary clinics due to a visible injury to her mouth and jaw. The skin on her lower jaw and chin had been pulled away from her teeth and jawbone and was hanging below her mouth. Our veterinarians were able to repair her injury and she is as good as new! You can still see that something is different about her face, but she doesn't mind at all. Soli eats wet and dry food with no problems. This spunky and very playful gal likes to rub your legs and follow you everywhere... especially when food is on the line. Soli took a while to warm up to her foster sister, Izzy, but now they're good buddies. They groom each other, sleep together, and play vigorously. Soli does get along with other cats, but not dogs. It may take her awhile to adjust to a new family and home, but once she does, she'll be your favorite little shadow. approx DOB January 2012 [email protected]
PLEASE REBLOG! NEW LINK ADDED FOR DONATIONS! Yesterday, Tenth Life found out about some kittens pulled out of a local Animal Control that were needing immediate rescue. They are set to be fostered by a dedicated Tenth Life volunteer. The kittens have been named Bocelli (buff tabby) and Cecelia (gray) and as you can see, they are having quite a rough start to life. After being examined by the vet today, we found out that Bocelli is going to loose both of his lil eyes and Cecelia is going to lose one of her eyes. They are pretty sick right now and on a lot of medicine (antibiotics, pain meds, ear mite meds, etc) to help them recover a little before surgery. Please help us in sending some extra special positive healing vibes and thoughts their way!!!! If you would like to donate to their care and surgery, you can donate directly to Tenth Life through the website link below. http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/bocelli-cecelia-s-eyes/73038

Among so many troubling stories in the news lately, we bring you one of hope: a paralyzed kitten who, we’re quite convinced, will walk again soon. This little darling is named Jefferson, another sweet kitten with rear-leg paralysis who has come to the loving arms of Tenth Life. Seriously injured when caught in a closing door, the four-week-old kitty suffered pulmonary and spinal bruising. His human took him to the clinic for care, and, upon learning the high cost of saving him compared with her own finances, reluctantly and with a broken heart, elected to euthanize him. However, a kind-hearted veterinary technician at the clinic was unable to bear the idea of this tiny guy losing his life. She was familiar with our miracle kitty Lincoln’s success of overcoming paralysis, and with hope, she stepped in to save little Jefferson. The compassionate tech then reached out to Lincoln’s mama, Bobbi, to see if she could help. And when Bobbi asked us if the little guy could be a Tenth Life kitty, the answer was immediately and unequivocally “yes!” Jefferson saw one of our specialist veterinarians yesterday, and she felt he had a very good chance of regaining the use of his hind legs. So, physical therapy has begun! Bobbi is using the same exercises she did for Lincoln one year ago, and we’re hopeful that he’ll be back on his feet soon.
Kittens are so happy at Tenth Life Cats that they DANCE! Happy Tuesday to everyone!
Big news at Tenth Life! We are so excited to launch our new animal assisted activities program, Tenth Life Companions! Dedicated volunteer and foster parent, Rachael, took the idea for this program and positively ran with it. She has built it from the ground up, and we're thrilled that it's now ready to be put into action. Our team of trained volunteers and temperament-tested kitties will be visiting nursing homes and residential care facilities to bring furry feline joy to people who can't have cats of their own. We are grateful to Rachael for her hard work, and we can't wait to give back to the community in this small way ♥
We are setting new records this week: after admitting 16 cats in a week's time, we've reached an all-time high of 106 cats in our care!!! Let's hear it for our awesome foster parents! This little dude is Sam (AKA Uncle Sam), one of our 16 new guys. He came from our friends at animal care & control, after they found him with a carpet string wrapped tightly around one of his legs. He doesn't consistently use his injured leg, and we're determined to help him regain strength and feeling in it. But in the meantime, he's getting plenty of love!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! S I N A T R A !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sweet Sinatra wants to show you his new Fancy Pants! This pretty kitty diaper of sorts not only helps keep Sinatra and his home clean; it also protects his little body when he moves around (quite rapidly!). Sinatra's rear legs are fully paralyzed and the injury that caused his condition also affected his ability to control his bladder and bowels. Therefore, his foster mom assists him with elimination and keeps him in his Fancy Pants to minimize mess and discomfort. Despite the adversity he faces, Sinatra is tenacious, incredibly playful, and more than sufficiently precocious. He's looking for a very special adopter who can meet his needs and give him the love he deserves. ♥
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P I P E R !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The people who discovered Piper and her siblings, Kiwi and Roo, planned to euthanize them due to their special needs. But a compassionate woman named Wendy intervened, and we are so grateful she did! Piper is missing bones in her rear legs and has a permanently bent front leg, but she is thriving under our loving care and gentle therapy. Everyone who meets her is immediately smitten, and she already has an adoptive home waiting for her once she is old enough to leave Tenth Life. We will certainly miss this darling, snuggly tabby girl
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! B E T T Y !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This beautiful sweetheart is Betty. She is the mama of Harry and Niall, two sweet and fluffy kittens who have congenital leg malformations (and have already been adopted!). Not only did Betty take wonderful care of her two boys, but she went above and beyond by unquestioningly taking on FIVE orphaned kittens, from two different litters! That's one amazing mama!!! And now she deserves the pampered life in a home of her own. Start the process now to give Betty the good life:http://www.tenthlifecats.org/adopt/application
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! S I N A T R A !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sinatra is one of the sweetest little guys we've known! His hind legs are paralyzed from an accident he had prior to his admission to Tenth Life. He needs help eliminating, and his foster mom reports that he purrs and kneads his paws after every potty break and subsequent bath We are currently looking into carts for wee Sinatra. (As fast as he is now on two legs, we're thinking a speed limit will be needed once he's got wheels!) Sinatra is yet another example of a kitty who, despite adversity and special needs, is incredibly happy and loving. We believe he deserves a wonderful life as much as any other cat.
