ISIS lost 14% of their territory in 2015 while YPG almost tripled their liberated areas. According to thinktank IHS Jane’s,  Lands under YPG control jumped 186% over the year. For comparison; Iraq managed to claw back some 6% of its territory from ISIS, while Peshmerga regained 2% (x).

The interesting thing here is that the YPG gets no or the least support from the West. Iraq & Peshmerga get modern weapons, Equipments, armoured vehicles military training, medical supplies etc. YPG are fighting with weapons from times of World War II & Cold War & ask desperately for ammunition for the next battles (x). The YPG isn’t even included in Syrian Peace talks or invited to partake in US-led Anti ISIS coalition. Also, since October 24 they’re attacked by the Turkish army from their side of the border.
