Days 13 and 14: Elemental + Reptilian

I wanted to mesh the two days together, so I looked for some water related reptilians and landed on the sea serpent! I used the more painterly brushes again since I had a lot of fun with them when drawing the fairy!

Day 12: Wee Beastie

Drew a jackalope! I've always found them fascinating and they also remind me of Odd Squad so it worked out well :D

Day 10: Faun

We're gonna ignore how I keep posting these late...

She's a white tailed deer fawn faun lol

I really like her, she's so cute! I don't have too much to say about this one, I wasn't really feeling like drawing a big piece so I did something simple!

Day 8: Naga

I saw that the Quetzalcoatl was included as one of the examples and I really wanted to draw it! I'm not sure why I wanted a snowy theme, but I'm happy with how it turned out!

Wish I could've spent more time on its design, but I was rushing to get the drawing posted, since this is technically late!

Day 7 - Fae

For once I didn't base it off of a mythological creature! :D I just drew my interpretation of a fairy!

I wanted to try a more painterly style with this one! I also loveeeee fairies that have wings based on actual butterflies, so mine has wings based on the red admiral!

Days 4 (Harpy), 5 (Spiritual manifestation) and 6 (Beasts)

Since I missed three days, I thought it'd be fun to put them all together in a drawing!! I decided to add the harpy looking over a chimera and have the two of them surrounded by will-o-wisps.

Had to draw this pretty quick which is why it isn't the best, but it definitely helped to catch up!

This year there is too much choice again so I'm just kinda jumping between lists and picking things I like and drawing those at random.

Can't resist making a little magical weird kitty critter ^w^ It's a bit hard to see but they also have a toothy mouth on the end of their tail.

#Drawtober 01. Candlelit Messenger + #teratopedia 13. Elemental

Oh dear, looks like it might be a burn during reading situation. 😬

I discovered my ancient Muji notebook stops bleed like a champ, so thought to do some quick Drawtober sketches with a failed JunBun Etc. mail Daiso brush pen. 1/3rd in, the tip broke. 😱 Can't find any more of our brush pens at Daiso either! Might be a very short Drawtober for me.

Day 3 - Vampire (Bloodsucker)

Didn't have much time to draw today so I very quickly sketched up my interpretation of the chupacabra! Wish I could've spent more time on it but unfortunately I couldn't 😭

I wanted to mix the canine and reptilian adaptations together, so I landed on this strange lizard-dog looking version. I'm still very happy with it though!

And it just finished drinking the blood of a goat :)

Day 1 - Cyclops: any single-eyed being

I was not in the mood to draw a normal cyclops, so I did some digging to find more single-eyed beings out there! I stumbled upon Bungisngis, which is a one-eyed giant in Philippine folklore to my understanding!

According to Wikipedia: "The literal meaning of the name Bungingis is derived from the Cebuano word ngisi which means "to giggle"." This made me add the laughter in the background!

The Bungisngis was also perfect because I myself am half-Filipino so I was super excited to draw something from the folklore! I'm pretty proud of this! I didn't wanna do anything too complicated so this worked out really well!!

Teratopedia 31 Day Monsterfolk Challenge - 30 categories (+1 freestyle) of loosely classified humanoid monsters for maximum redoability! The default challenge is a DOODLE challenge, but this list is usable for challenges of any sort - drawing, writing, or otherwise. The monster-types here have been classified and arranged according to a variety of factors, including cultural popularity, similarity of theme, and ease of execution. Hence, the order the list is in is the recommended order, but feel free to shake it up if you’d prefer! Please check @teratopedia's page for a text version of the list.

Do this challenge any way you’d like - once a day, chunks at a time, cherry-picking, prompts combined; sketches to lines to complete pieces, traditional or digital. This challenge is ideal for October, but it can be done at any time.
