I have another little theory to share, but when I was looking at the scary concept arts of welcome home, I noticed something, idk if someone else said it, but look at this:
5 numbers that aren't covered, other 3 covered (idk what the other two means though)
Now look at the characters writing and colors:
Wally and home = red
Julie = pink
Frank = yellow
Barnaby = blue
Poppy = green
Sally = orange
Eddie = purple
Howdy = cyan
And remember when wally said "the numbers are so hard to read, sometimes I can't see them."
Maybe he forgot about Sally, Eddie and Howdy, or that something happened to them, because the colors and the number of neighbors are exactly like the rotary dial telephone, and they're whole neighborhood looks like a whole rotary dial, and maybe it can make sense, that's what I think it is
Now that I'm thinking about it more deeply, I think the whole phone probably represents home, while the rotary dials are wally and his friends, the phone also have the same color palettes like home, so it makes sense that the phone represents home, just a thought
I think I know what those two black numbers are:
the eyes
They probably represents home eyes
Like the blue handset represents home roof, it kinda makes sense, just another thought
