Due to her responsibilities with her other businesses, it was only chance that Evelyn was in that day. Several reports of different voyages were on her desk, reporting on discovered islands that had popped up in the past few weeks. However, when she heard footsteps, she looked up and narrowed her eyes. It was him, the man who fought her at the tournament. The one who unbelievably pissed her off.Â
âWhat is it?â Evelyn asked, crossing her arms and leaning back in her chair, âWhat hole did you crawl out of, anyway?â He looked filthy, almost like how she and her miners looked when they got done with a venture down into the mines. He couldnât even bother to clean himself before walking in here? Normally Evelyn wouldnât careâŚbut he already pissed her off to begin with, so every little thing was just annoying her.
She listened, her eyes still narrowed at him.
However, the second he even mentioned the word SechsâŚall that annoyance immediately washed away, everything drawn to concern. She was soon on her feet, looking at him with a serious expression.
âWhere in the mines?â Evelyn stepped over to grab her bow and quiver, which had been leaning against the side of her desk, âHow deep is it from the surface? Is it closer from the south entrance or the north entrance?â Immediately, the bow and quiver were on her back. She didnât have any of her special arrows apart from some paralysis arrowsâŚbut they would do. If there were people down thereâŚthen she wanted to question them.
After getting captured by the Sechs not too long ago, Evelyn wanted answers.
âIâm going down there, and youâre coming with me,â Evelyn said, looking at him with narrowed eyes, âIf this is some trick, then fess up now.â Who else could she grab while they were heading down? Who else was working that day? Did the people working right now even have their weapons?
âWell obviously I just crawled outta of Leuda mines... And ya could consider that a âole...â
And it did have a bunch of holes in it... Regardless, there were more important things they had to worry about right now. Banter would be saved for another time, and all negative feelings towards the woman would have to be buried. It wouldnât serve him any good to be his hateful self right now as he unfortunately needs her help more than he wants to admit.
âThe 21st floor... The Southernmost part.â
And regrettably that was just past the floor he had made his dwelling place. While he wasnât a huge fan of people going to the 20th floor, mostly because he had certain skeletons in his closet hidden his âhomeâ. It wouldnât do him any favors if one of them was discovered. Fortunately his key piece was hidden in his mattress, in which he could stop someone from exploring. So, that worry could be put to rest.
Just as another one rose.
This was one of those rare times he showed discomfort, bandaged fingers attempted to dig into his arms as he bit into his lip. âI ainât dumb ânough to joke âbout shit like that.â Though he was arguably uncomfortable with the idea of having go deep into a place Sechs had once been... Or could still be. Yet... He had found it, so it made him the only person who knew how to get there safely.
â... Just assemble whoever... I donât fuckinâ care who ya take...â
But he wouldâve been more comfortable with just Evelyn. Sure he absolutely despised everything about her, but having so many people passing his room... And so many people who could ask questions he wanted to avoid...
He really hoped everyone else was as hesitant to approach Sechs topics as he was.
