headcanon dump!!

the surgery yubel went through to become what they are now was incredibly painful. the surgery used both alchemy and science, and yubel was awake during all of it.

there was a very long recovery period for them, they spent months under care and supervision. during this recovery period haou was forbidden to see yubel.

yubel no longer has any of their reproductive organs, those where removed, the court in charge at the time didn’t want to risk a monster having offspring. especially one they considered ugly, like yubel.

not that they where sure yubel would be able to do so after such an intense operation, but they did it just in case.

the castle’s treatment of yubel changed drastically afterwards, even the king’s ( even if he liked to act like it didn’t ). no one saw them anymore as the cute playmate/protector of haou, only a monster.

not that they minded of course, what only mattered to yubel was the protection of haou.

headcanon. to add onto the mother headcanon, yubel and their mother had a really close bond and her death was emotionally painful for yubel, and the only way yubel was able to fully “move on” from their mother’s death was forcing themselves to believe that she abandoned them.

headcanon. yubel was an illegitimate child who lived under the care of their mother until her death when yubel reached the age of 5. due to not knowing their father or having any other family members that they where aware of, they where forced to live on the street until a fateful encounter with haou when they where 10.

life alone was painful and lonely for them and has repressed the memory. to them their life only started when they met haou.
