“Shit.”
“You take the words out of my mouth,” she said, looking at him. “At least we’re looking good, right?”
“My cute poodle.’ She had to add, still giggling. “Then mission accomplished.” She said, pulling at the ends of the dress. Riley loved champagne, but with all the events about to play out in the matter of hours, it was more bitter. “Thank god I brought your favorite chapstick then, she spoke while refilling their glasses, “If you take off running towards me, I’ll catch you and give you the most romantic kiss of your life.” She took another large sip, nearly downing the glass again, “It’s going to play out alright, ok? Incase… you’re worrying. Don’t.” Riley had a bad feeling but all she would allow herself to think of was how Tessa was feeling. “If it all goes down and you end up Mrs. French, it’s just a piece of paper. We can get you a divorce as soon as possible. Yeah? This is just a game.”
Tessa made a face as if she was trying to look like a puppy before nodding once again. “You look really fantastic in that, really, no matter how shitty the event for it’s for, you will outgo,” she said, laughing at it. The girl took another sip out of her champagne, listening to what her friend at to say before chuckling. “I know we will make a hell of a show, and it will end all good, we can run away to the states or something like that, just live with each other and never go back to London ever again,” she was leaning on the wall behind her, looking at Riley. “I’m not worried, it’s kind of weird, but I’m not. I’m actually pretty calm about this whole thing right now, but who knows how I will be when its only like an hour till it happens you know?” she told the girl in full honesty. “Yeah, we’ll work something out,” Her shoulders went up for a shrug again.
For the first time in his entire life, a strange level of distress filled him but did not quite meet his face, a terrible feeling of dread for what was to come. Not the wedding but what came after. He had always been the type of man to keep his emotions to himself, his Mothers words echoing in his head, but this time he was not quite sure he could outlive the storm. Sorry, Mother. “Think about it, Tessa,” he said calmly, gazing past her, a strange look on his face, “My Uncle plans to marry me off to get his hands on the fortune left to each of my fellow descendants, fortunes that will then be claimed by him, he has no use for me. He keeps Ricky out of his arrangements, does that mean he is the favoured son? Does that mean that this child is some kind of necessary part of his plan?” he looked back at her then, eyes clear, “I believe that my Uncle plans to kill me and Daisy, not only that but I believe he plans to kill his own son, Julian. He lusts for money, he lusts to keep his dreams of immortality alive and anyone who has claim to the French name only puts him in danger of losing that. His first grandchild could be the person to end the cycle, perhaps that is what he plans to do, a great weapon,” he pushed his lips together, “I am not proposing that you help me, but I am proposing that when back in London, Vincent must die.”
Every word that came out of Sean for the next few minutes was giving Tessa a real shock. It wasn’t because she was suprised, but because deep down, she knew that it was true. That Mr. French always had been a psychopath and she was just waiting for someone to tell her everything, and once he did it, she couldn’t do anything else but stand there, looking like a dork. Hearing that he would kill Sean and his sister was bad enough, but killing one of his own kids? That was just crazy, the man was crazy and he had to be stopped. Tessa walked over to him, standing right next to him, they both looked out in the room. After he stopped talking, she used a minute or two to think about what she should be saying, what was the right thing to say in a situation like this? Nothing. There was nothing right to say right now, because none of this was right. “I don’t know what to say, just that you are not going to die, Daisy isn’t going to die and not Julian either. None of you are going to die because of someone so selfish and sick as Vincent French,” she stated, before she turned around to face him. “Count me in,” Tessa looked dead serious at him, she wasn’t willing to let Vincent believe that he could play God whenever he wanted to. “I want to help, I don’t know how, but at least, you’re not going to be alone,”

“That doesn’t surprise me, honestly. In my mind, I can see a matching bonnet to go along with that puffy dress.” She giggled at the thought, but she knew that in all honestly, Tessa could pull it off. She sat down on the bed, watching her pull out the dress. She gave her a look of approval, “Damn, that’s exactly what I was going for. Anything to slut it up and not be formal.” She took the dress, pulling her tank and kicking boyfriend jeans off, “Yeah?” She asked, twirling in it, as if the tight dress would move on her. “What do you think? Will I look good when I object?” She laughed, grabbing for the alcohol, “To you. And your bullshit marriage.” She smirked. Inside, the feeling of failing her friend was creeping up.
Laughing at Riley’s vision, her shoulders went up in a shrug as she was smiling. “I would probably be looking like a poodle, not a look I would choose even if I was insane,” the girl commeted back. When the brunette took off her clothes, the blondie picked the fabric up from the floor, folding it and laid it on the chair behind them. Once she got on her dress, she winked and nodded. “It’s almost like I would’ve gone lesbian for real for you,” she joked and took up her glass, holding it against the other glass. “To some miserable years.” She poured the alcohol down her throat, before looking back on her friend. “You better object, because I’ve made a whole scene ready for you, I’m going to run down to you, and just like jump on you and give you a passionate kiss before we run out of the church, okay?”
Everything she was saying had made sense and for a second he truly wished he could explain why he had been so calm, so accepting of his fate, because compared to everything else he truly knew, this was nothing, but she would never understand so instead he just smiled. “Thank you, Tess, truly,” he meant it too, his eyes radiated warmth, Sean’s smile the most sincere most people would ever see, because of the complete rarity it was to see it. “I see,” he said simply, because there was not much else to say about the matter, placing the bobby pin down, he glanced at her, “No, I don’t think we do. There would be no sense to that when we hold no love for one another. I wish for you to be happy and that is all,” he paused, hovering mid-sentence, “and that is why I must breach a subject that is rather unsavoury, Tessa, because I feel that once we are married and my fortune has been raked in, I will be useless to my Uncle, I presume he will kill me.”
Smiling to him, Tessa began to think about Ricky. All they had been doing was kiss once, and she had confessed that she was into him, but there wasn’t more than that. She didn’t know how he felt about this getting married to Sean thing was, because he never told her, all he told her was that she should marry him. In a way, she had hoped that he was going to suggest that they could run away together and never look back, but the blondie knew it was too good to be true. “Okay, well, I think that it’s not so bad getting married to you after all, it’s just on the papers, right? It doesn’t really change our lives as I thought it would’ve done,” the girl said honest. “And the same goes for you,” Tessa commented to the part where Sean said that he wanted her to be happy, giving him a smile. The smile fainted shortly after when he spoke again. “What?” she called out, standing up on the bed. “Kill you?” her eyes was showing how confused she really was, but she wanted to stay calm for once. “No,” the girl was shaking her head as her feet started moving around the room. “That’s bullshit, you’re not going to die, Sean,”
Julian stood in his room, staring at himself in the mirror on the back of the door. The suit felt strange on him, too tight in some places, not tight enough in others. There was still a few hours till the wedding and as he tugged on the sleeves of his white shirt, the door busted open, surprising him. He took a step back, his reactions as delayed as his brain felt. “Everything okay?” he asked, really hoping the wedding might’ve been called off.
Tessa was walking around, needed some air. It was really sinking in to her that in a few hours she would be a married woman. She was short breathed as she walked into the room, which she assumed was Millie’s room, but when she saw Julian, a little sigh escaped her, it wasn’t hers. “Uhm,” was all she said, before stepping into the room. the girl hadn’t really talked to Julian before, and not even after this whole mess got out, but she knew that he was in the same position as him, so it could’ve been a good idea to talk with him before everything happened. “If you mean besides the fact that I’m wearing a wedding dress, probably gonna dehydrated soon because of this heat, and we are about to get married, then yes, everything okay,” she answered him.

Sam: so the moral lesson of the story is you want me to see your amazing butt?
Tessa: .. yes, i don't have anyone else around me atm to show it to, and i'm pretty happy with it
He watched her delve into her own thoughts and briefly wondered about his own parents, what would they say? A little part of him worried that they would say he should do it. That he should go through with it. The older he got, the more he realised he had not known them at all beyond warm arms around a small body, a smile and pats on the head from a Father who disappeared behind a door too large for him to ever open. A door of secrets. “Good, I don’t want anyone being sick over me,” he smiled, returning to reality, dismissing the doubts he had always hidden about his parents, doubts he would always keep to himself, “At first I was finding it quite strange but now I realise that if I had to marry someone then at least you don’t want to kill me. You’re a nice person, Tessa, I am thankful for that,” and he was, so very thankful, despite whatever plans laid ahead of him, if the end was him and Tessa being married, it could have been worse. Although something twinged inside of him, Ricky was his cousin and he knew that the boy was involved with Tessa even if they had never spoken, “You and Ricky,” he began, “I recently found that he’s my cousin, would it be wrong of me to ask you if the conditions of our marriage, that you may carry on as if we are not bound together, is so you can be together?”
“I was never sick of you, Sean,” Tessa told him, looking serious at him before she thought for a minute. “I was just sick of the idea and thought by being forced to marry someone who was a complete stranger to me, and to understand the feeling thousands of girls in this world are feeling every day. And just by your uncle, he made me sick, and he still does, but you have never really made me sick. I was just annoyed that you handled this so much better than me, and I envy you for it,” she said, sighing once again. She was normally the calm one, who didn’t want to make a scene out of things, but when this happened, she completely changed, and she realised that the calm person in this situation was him, and not her. When he spoke again, she gave him a light smile. “Same here, or like, I don’t think anyone wants to kill me, but you’re a real gentleman, and in the future, when you’ll be marrying someone you actually love, she’ll be a lucky girl.” Tessa said to him, leaning on her elbows on the bed, looking at him when he started talking about her relationship with Ricky. She raised an eyebrow, how could he know about him? “Your cousin?” She questioned, shaking her head. “Well, I don’t know. Me and him are not together though. -- I like him, yes, but other than that I don’t know what the deal between him and me is,” she said. “Do you think we have to have like the same bounds as every other married couples have?”

“Well, the elephants could turn nasty,” his joke was light, fingers twisting a hair pin he had picked up from the dressing table between them, a small chuckle hitting the air before he could give it a second thought. Something inside of him felt relief. Maybe it was seeing his possible wife, maybe it was standing here in a room with just one other person who understood the weight f the situation, someone who he hoped did not assume that he was as bad as his family, possibly because her parents may have been equally as terrible in this whole thing. “Yes, they’re here, a lot of parents are but apparently they’ll be conveniently jetting off before the wedding,” he raised an eyebrow, it was all very suspicious but he supposed it would be a long time before he would get to the bottom of that, “So, how are you? Ready for our wonderful day?”
In a way, she was starting to like Sean. Not any romantic way of liking, but just as a person. After the news about them getting married, she had been able to talk with him about those kind of things, and they didn’t really hate each other or anything like that such as Trevor and Daisy, so if it matters, she was happy that she was chosen to marry Sean out of all of the strangers at school instead of any other weirdo. “That’s odd,” she said and scratched the back of her neck, why wouldn’t her parents tell her that they were here? She hadn’t seen them since the semester started, and after these past weeks, she would’ve thought that they wanted to see her? Tessa sighed loudly before Sean’s voice got her out of her thoughts. “To be honest, I’m not feeling like I’m going to throw up anymore, so I guess that’s a good thing, right?” she shrugged a little bit to him. “What about you? Are you getting settled with the thought of being married to me?” she had to laugh a bit as she said the last part. It was crazy, she was so young, and now look at her. Standing in front of her fiancè and them to having an actual conversation made her feel weird.
Ready for the wedding. (Kidding!)
Riley had felt a knot in her stomach all day, she could only imagine how Tessa felt. Her smile was large at her comment on picking her own dress, “Really? It looks lovely, really. Good choice.” The two usually joked around, poked fun. This was a whole new side of them, probably because they were scared shitless. “Yeah, i was hoping you’d ask. I have nothing for the occasion. I was hoping you’d have a dress in black? Match my soul?” She smirked, “Pop that champagne, lover. Might as well enjoy this as best we can, yeah?” She lightly touched Tessa’s hair, fixing a flyaway before she went to display the bottle.
“Ugh, do you even know what the French wanted me to wear? It looked like a freaking tent, I’m not even joking. The dress was wearing me, and not me wearing it,” Tessa told her as she made a face that showed her that she was being serious and disgusted. “They have absolutely no taste at all, so really. I’m glad for this,” the girl smiled when Riley asked if she had some black dress that she could borrow. “I have the perfect one for you,” she stood up and walked over to the closet where her clothes was, trying to find the dress. Once she had found it, she turned around to show it for Riley. “Here, it’s tight so it shows your curves and it’s completely black, so you can tell the people that this is bullshit and I’m hoping for bad luck for the couples,” Tessa joked as she handed the dress over to Riley. “Try it on, I bet you’d be pretty and sexy in it,” she winked. The blondie took the bottle and opened it, pouring it in two glass, each for one of them. “Here you go, lover.”
It was a strange thought that the woman in front of him may become his wife that very same day. Sean had never seen marriage on the cards, much less had he seen marrying a girl that he barely knew who only two weeks earlier had accused him of being apart of a conspiracy even cross his mind. As he looked at her now, a faint smile on his lips, he had to admit that she did look quite beautiful in her dress, “Certainly, though I hope this doesn’t bring us bad luck,” he stepped forwards, pulling the zip slowly to the top before moving to stand in front of her, leaning on the dressing table, “Have you seen your parents? I hear that they were here and are leaving before the wedding.”
As Sean walked into the room, she didn’t recall it at once that he was her soon to be husband, but it soon came back to her again. Tessa moved her hair, holding it up in a ponytail as he zipped her. When he went to stand in front of her, she leaned on the bed edge, “Let’s keep our fingers crossed, even though I don’t think there could be more things to happen to us now,” the girl chuckled, looking at him in the suit. She wanted to make a comment about how good he was looking right now, in that suit and everything, but she didn’t know how to put the words in sentences, so she gave him a brief smile. “You look good,” was all she said before he asked her about her parents. Raising an eyebrow, Tessa shaked her head in confusion. “What? My parents? No, I haven’t heard anything about that,”
Riley stopped in the doorway, admiring her closest friend. Yes, the circumstances were shit but Tessa looked beautiful. She always looked beautiful. Riley stepped in only when Tessa spoke. She stood behind her, zipping the dress up carefully, and looked into the mirror over her small shoulder, “You look stunning, Tess.”
She took her hair on one side of her shoulder, leaning her head forward as Riley zipped her dress. Her eyes went to the reflection in the mirror of the two girls as the brunette spoke. “Really?” Tessa gave her a little smile before nodding. “I got to pick my own dress, so that’s like one good thing about this,” she turned around once the dress was zipped all up and then looked at Riley. “Do you wanna get ready with me? I could use the company, and I got champagne so,” she walked over to her bed and took the bottle of champagne up from the counter, showing it to her friend. “Can’t go completely sober to the wedding now, can I?” She joked.
