@tessamarks
Too many people were just blurting out their secrets all over the place. Sure it had been fun for a second or two, but this was just getting weird as Jake made his way through groups of people. Everyone seemed to have something to say and for the most part, he didn’t want to know what they had to say. It seemed so few had actually kept from drinking from the tainted punch, so there were plenty of secrets flying around. This was bound to get bad sooner than later. Spotting a familiar face, Jake made his way over with the best mustered smile he could manage.
“I’m going to guess that you didn’t have any of the punch to drink?” Such a thing felt weird to say to a ghost, but really, if she hadn’t had any then Tessa was on the winning end there, right? “If ya didn’t, you’re really lucky. Things are…insane between people. There had been some hardcore truths floating around out there.” @tessamarks
Tessa had tried to avoid just about everyone but Mimi since they’d gotten to the dance. Then, even more so after the news of that spiked punch came to light. She had never been more thankful that she physically couldn’t drink the kool-aid.
Tessa has ventured out to find something safe to drink for her date when she was stopped by Jake.
“You guessed correctly,” she said. “I’ve been pretty much avoiding everyone but Mimi tonight. This isn’t exactly how I pictured my first dance going... let alone how I pictured my first date going. This is going to get bad, isn’t it?”

She was anticipating a thanks but no thanks kind of answer. What she hadn’t expected was for Mimi to say “I’d love to”, and actually mean it.
“Oh, I unders–wait, really?” Tessa’s eyes widened, looking down at their joined hands and smiled like a fool. “To be clear, I mean like as a date, and not as friends. If that changed your mind, I completely understand.”
She had no idea why she was so nervous. Well, she means, she did, but she’d never been the kind of girl to be a babbling idiot.
“I would go with you either way. I’m glad you want me to be your date though.” Mimi smiled shyly, freeing one of her hands to nervously tug on one of her curls.
“I uh, like… girls. I’ve known for awhile. I thought I was bi, but recently I’ve been thinking maybe I… only like girls. I tried to like, sort of hint, without telling you? But I’ve never been very good at subtle social interaction. I didn’t to just come out and tell you, because what if I told you, and you guessed that I liked you, and you’re like, so much cooler and more comfortable and probably more experienced than me, and you’re also like, my only close friend, so I was afraid to make things… weird, I guess. But uh, I think you’re pretty cool.” Mimi smiled bashfully, a slight embarrassed flush covering her fair skin.
The redhead’s words bounced around her the boundaries of her skull. I’m glad you want me to be your date. The feeling of relief that flooded through Tessa was unmatched.
“I don’t know about cooler or more experienced,” Tessa started, taking back her friend’s hand back into hers. “but I don’t think things would have gotten weird. And if it wasn’t clear,” she smiled bashfully at her friend. “I think you’re pretty cool, too.”

Mimi leaned against the wall, waiting for Tessa. Her friend had seemed frazzled and out of sorts when they’d spoken last, so Mimi was the slightest bit worried. She twirled a lock of her hair, looking around to see her ghost friend approaching.
Tessa was… something. Mimi was still struggling to exactly sort out her feelings for the ghost. Since middle school, Mimi’d figured she was bisexual, or something. Girls were definitely cute. Boys were okay, but all the other girls liked them so much Mimi figured she did too. And it’s not like she’d ever dated, having to focus all her attention on hiding her sirenhood from everyone around her. She’d had crushes over the years, on girls, and she thought on boys, but then Tessa Marks rolled into town and Mimi found herself reevaluating… well, a lot of things.

She wasn’t really sure how it happened. Tessa Marks hadn’t had full-blown actual feelings for anyone in decades. That was, until she got to know Mirabelle Lewis. On one of her first days in Gravestone, she’d come across the red-haired beauty. Well, came across was putting it subtly.
She’d been walking what seemed to be the main street, watching everyone live their lives as if there wasn’t a new girl in town - because to them, there wasn’t. That was until Tessa literally bumped into her. It had taken her by surprise - being solid and someone seeing her.
The girl apologized profusely, but Tessa stared at her shell-shocked. She could barely get a full sentence out, so she quit while she was ahead and just stared at her. Stop. Wait. How the fuck did that happen? She hadn’t touched anything in solid form since she’d died.
The girl smiled at Tessa, still apologizing.
“It’s okay,” Tessa was finally able to say, “but, how can that happen?”
“How’d what happen? I bumped into you because I wasn’t paying attention.”
“And you don’t see anything wrong with that?”
“I said I was sorry…”
Tessa went on to explain that she was, in fact, a ghost. It didn’t scare her off, which was a miracle in and of itself. They exchange names and pleasantries, agreeing to meet up again some time.

MIMI: that's true
MIMI: it might be fun to get dressed up too, honestly.
MIMI: i love fashion, but i don't exactly experiment with it much.
TESSA: see, there are always silver-linings to things.
TESSA: than why not check it out? it will give you a chance to play around when you otherwise wouldn't
Text Message: Spectral Girl
Jon: fingers crossed on that finally....
Jon: she might say no for all i know
Jon: maybe she's got other people
Jon: or another person, i'm not trying to imply she's with a lot of other people
Jon: which would be okay i mean that is absolutely her choice if she wants to or not it would just not work out for this romantic grand gesture i'm working for
Tessa: i don't think she'll say no.
Tessa: even if there is someone else in her life right now, i can't see how she'd deny you.
Tessa: do the grand gesture.
Tessa: get
Tessa: your
Tessa: girl

MIMI: i imagine dances now are probably a bit of a different affair than in the 1880's
MIMI: i went to one in middle school for about half of a second. it was loud. i was immediately bored and uncomfortable and left.
MIMI: but i also went alone so! who knows!
TESSA: i guess i'll just have to wait and see
TESSA: it honestly can't be that bad
TESSA: if anything we can watch people make fools of themselves, right?
text : levi
Levi: it's...complicated I guess.
Tessa: everything around here is complicated
Text Message: Spectral Girl
Jon: As much as I wish you weren't, you're literally the only person I can ask that I trust to do this
Jon: yeah? you're in? thank you. i promise i'll figure out a way to say thanks
Jon: maybe I'll kill a hot dog so you can eat it
Tessa: i mean, i doubt i'm the /only/ person, but that's much appreciated
Tessa: i am very in. who am i to stand in the way of you finally getting your girl?

Locke: NO I CAN'T
Locke: I don't know if you've noticed but I haven't any wings...
Locke: I realize I put on a fabulous cool and collected front but it's incredibly distressing to be a fae without wings
Locke: I look... AVERAGE
Locke: Besides, if no one loves me now, how will anyone ever love me later?
Tessa: you most certainly can
Tessa: the wings don't make the fae, darling Locke
Tessa: you are just as beautiful and loveable with or without your wings.
text - locke
Locke: YES IT IS
Locke: Didn't you see the posters? HOMECOMING KING & QUEEN WILL BE VOTED FOR AT HOMECOMING
Locke: But thanks, I almost forgot I can't be king at home either
Locke: My life is over as I know it
Tessa: dear god, locke
Tessa: you can be homecoming king [or queen - deleted] if you really want to be
Tessa: it's just a popularity contest, from what i hear anyway
Tessa: your life is not over. you are a tiny sprout of a fae. you've got much more life left to live
text - locke
Locke: I'm serious!
Locke: Is life even worth living if you won't be king?
Tessa: that isn't a problem most people have, Locke
Tessa: being king isn't even a possibility for most mundanes, or even monsters.
text - locke
Locke: Well, wherever it is, I bet there aren't any witches or demons there.
Locke: We could go on a garden adventure! It'll be SO fun and you wouldn't have to worry about nothing at all because I'll take care of everything! I'll show you so many plants. There are so many you and your mom probably have never even HEARD of.
Locke: All I have to do is die first!
Tessa: i mean probably?
Tessa: everybody dies
Tessa: presumably anyway
Tessa: a garden adventure does sound very fun
Tessa: and very nostalgic
Tessa: i'm sure you could show me a whole new world of things
Tessa: oh my gahd.
Tessa: you are /so/ dramatic!!
text - locke
Locke: No... People are often wary about taking candy from ME for whatever reason
Locke: I'd just like a little vacation right about now and since I can't FLY away, I thought the afterlife would be a nice place to go since you're there and all.
Locke: We could teleport somewhere nice and sunny with lots of flowers. It'd be a nice little date!
Tessa: i couldn't imagine why
Tessa: i don't think this is the afterlife
Tessa: its definitely something though
Tessa: that /does/ sound nice...
text : tess-tess
MIMI: oh! haha, gosh.
MIMI: that's sweet of you. but i've actually never been to a dance, honestly.
MIMI: if you don't count the choir kissing booth, i've never even been kissed
TESSA: the last dance i went to was in the 1880s.
TESSA: i definitely don't think that counts.
TESSA: and the same goes for the kiss, so again, i'm pretty sure we're in the same boat here.
TESSA: it's actually a little overwhelming
