• • • HELLO!  ° ⟨  english flows right off the bat from her tongue, a quick detour from what her dad had taught her was the right way to greet people on korean soil. it’s a quick deflection, something that yuna hides with her smile before she reverts back to what she’s been taught, what she’s been practicing to say  ⟩ ₊  sorry about that, my name is shin yuna and i’m fifteen. i just moved here from california, home of bipolar weather and avocados, apparently. don’t be fooled by my greeting, i do know korean, quite well actually from all my summers spent here with my haraboji! we moved back here because my dad got re-married to some chick he met at one of his business trips. ° ⟨  she nods, knocking a couple of her hairs back behind her shoulder as she looks around  ⟩ ₊  and i guess … that’s it?

• • • i want to be famous. ° ⟨  she says, almost immediately, without fault. the blank face and the dead tone of voice sets the obviousness behind the phrase  ⟩ ₊  doesn’t everyone want to be famous these days, anyways? doesn’t really matter how i get there, as long as i get famous should be fine enough. everyone i knew back in irvine was like “insta” famous and while that’s cool and all, that can only get you so far. i’m looking for long-term fame, not something that’ll pass because a social media site shut down.
