RESET FOR YANGCHEON
sgnxwoojinâ:
&& like a ghost from the past
@yoori-sgn
there arenât many people on campus woojin actually trusted, but if there was someone he would most likely call a friend, then it was jongin. the two of them were more similiar he would have expected at first, and that was probably the reason why he come to grow a more close to the other than he initially planned to. so it had surprised him a bit to see a familiar looking woman coming to his side, after the two of them just parted ways. frowning, he stood close, mustering the couple for a moment, as he tried to remember the face.
when jongin left, the female walked in his direction and woojin recognized her at once. jetblack orbs shoke for a moment, as memories of a long lost past flashed by. yoori was someone one would call a childhood friend, though he would barely accept her as one anymore, since he was kang woojin, not koo haneul any longer.
he stood there for a moment, wondering if she still remembered him, if she still knew who he was. this felt far more tense then he liked to accept. âyou are acquaintanced with jongin?â
The meeting was going longer then expected and standing outside the Wolfbane meeting room was boring to say the least. Glancing around she wondered what these hallow halls had witnessed over the years between the parties and events that were held by the social club. Had they seen many falls from fame? Watched people climb and crawl their way to the top? Was there many like her that were swallowed by the greed of success, and were these doorways a mouth or a shelter for them?Â
Running slender digits through her bangs, she attempted to shake off the bad feeling growing in the pit of her stomach. How much longer? Just as she was beginning to be impatient the doors swung open, allowing her entrance as she bowed at a few familiar faces before pausing at one she didnât notice before. She couldnât hesitate long as Jongin appeared at her side, whispering something about taking a smoke break and for her to stay there till he returned. She nodded in response as her eyes flickered back to the man who poked out from her memory, but the boy she remembered was shorter and more boyish then handsome. It was no wonder when he was probably fed well when he abandoned his brother and their childhood home.Â
Without meaning to, her feet took her to the place right in front of him as she examined him closely. âWell acquainted I would venture to say,â pulling her lips between her teeth before releasing with a pop, âweâre engaged.â She had to ask since he asked a question of his own, âdo you still go by Haneul?â She had not seen another Koo beside his brother so she presumed that his surname changed but what of his given one? Â
axel-sgnâ:
He nodded his head, understanding exactly what she meant. Despite having money of his own now, Axel often felt that those who were born into it looked down upon him for being middle class. Now, this could all be in his head but something deep down in his gut told Axel there was more to his suspicion. âItâs called duality, my dear.â The musician then replied with a low, throaty chuckle, shoulders shaking in amusement over her words and the irony is in own. âYeah, but you shouldnât have to deal with them, that can be draining in itself.â He should know, having spent hours with the few in his chosen field, aware that most of them were only there because of money and nepotism. âNot as often as I like. Itâs hard to find someone who likes you from you and not what you can offer.â Axel replied, still smiling and staring at her. âJust thinking about how beautiful you are.â
âThe duality of Axel, it sounds like an album.â She agrees with a cheeky grin, leaning her back against the counter beside the stove. Most people had that kind of duality, neither being all one thing as others may first assume. So often however, they are put into a box and forced to fit the mold most comfortable for the public to view them as. She supposes that even she has now done that to Axel. âYour right, Iâm sorry. You can be both critical of my terrible taste and also appreciate my intellect.â Glancing over, she wonders how much he knew about those who she dealt with daily. He was in Seongnam so he was privy to all the gossip if he so chose to listen, but something told her that he wasnât exactly the nosey type. âSometimes you have accept necessary evils.â She thinks of an ever smirking smile and dark eyes always trained on her. âItâs my cross to bare.â Tightening her ponytail, she nods along with what he says about dating. It did seem difficult and being well known probably didnât help his chances. However, to be in a relationship for the benefits the other person brought was not a foreign concept to Yoori. âCan they not like both? You and what you bring? Would you rather someone hate your career but tolerate it because they love you or someone who wants to be in the same field and likes you? Even if itâs for elevation...as long as their feelings are sincere why does it matter?â His answer was startling as she turned and blinked at him slowly. âAre you hitting on me Axel?â She inquired bluntly before pushing off the counter, âduality indeed. You go from finding me absurd in my mindset about cooking to marveling at my beauty.â She laughs to herself before walking over to where he is and standing in front of him. âThank you for the compliment but I believe you are wasting your compliments on a ungrateful girl.â
sgnxhanaâ:
Hana could say that library was her third home. Third? Yes. Her first is the one she lives with her father, the second is somewhere in Orgrimmar and the third was the library. She likes to study well on the other people presence instead of staying on her room. It was her way to show off the she could get all right questions without even think twice before noting or search on google. When she is studying, she is always paying attention only on one thing. With her notebook on the table, Hana was typing something she couldnât help but notice some girls around her buddyâs chair and laughing. Which made Hanaâs blood boil at some point.
Usually, Hana would get up and do something, but she promised her dad that she would stay off trouble. Heâs always reminding all the times he had to pay visit to her school due to her fights and bad behavior. As someone that was bullied when a kid and then learnt how to be a bully, she couldnât stand these acts. No wonder she was black belt in taekwondo. Remembering her dad words, she just bite her lower lip, trying to keep her mind in somewhere else. She was static. Soon enough, Yoori called her name, making Hana snap out to reality and relaxed to her words. Song just leaned her head forward, practically crashing her head on the keyboard and sighing. âCouldnât we just take them outside?â She whispered back, making apology to violence.
Glancing up at where Hana laid down across her as a smile appeared on her face with the resolute response. âThat would make quite the ruckus even outside wouldnât it? Thus distracting us from the real issue at hand which is our homework.â She reminded her tapping the textbook with the eraser side of her pencil while maintaining eye contact before her eyes dragged back down. âIgnore them. People like that get power from the attention you give them.â She whispers so the girls who probably are still near by couldnât hear.Â
âBesides, what will come from violence? More violence, or worse academic punishment.â Yoori faux shivers at the idea even though she sincerely was terrified of any retribution that could come in response to them dealing with the girls. âYou get used to it. I wasnât always the person people would whisper about but when you get engaged to one of the most powerful families in Korea, it kind of comes with the territory doesnât it?â The girls could be related to her in a number of ways; they could or want to have a sexual relationship with her fiancee and are jealous of her, they may know of the arranged marriage and view her as a gold digger, or just dislike any of her clubs or organizations sheâs a part of. Who could say? Maybe they were actually staring at Hana, either way it didnât matter. âIs violence usually the way you handle things like this?â She inquires not looking up from her notes.Â
sgndanbiâ:
yooriâs laughter is infectious, and danbi almost unconsciously joins in with giggles of her own. âyeah, these have a mind of their own.â she starts, pointing to her eyes, the puppy eyes now replaced by a glint of playfulness in them. âthey only appear when iâm around people i love, you know?â she says with a grin, before bursting into yet another bout of laughter, though not at anything in particular. itâs just that spending quality time with yoori likes this makes her want to smile and laugh endlessly. with their cheery laughter resonating throughout the room, itâs hard to even imagine that just a while ago, danbi had been trembling in a corner of her bed and frozen in place from the terror of a nightmare. she supposes that this is what yoori is so good at, helping her to chase away the looming shadows, whether itâs from a mere nightmare or from any other troubles. itâs funny, because yoori is always saying that sheâs gloomy and that danbiâs ebullience brings the light to their room, but danbi thinks a little differently.
even with how unlike they are from each other, she thinks that illuminating the room is something that they both do, simply because they both bring light to each otherâs lives, albeit in very different ways. if danbi would be likened to sunshine, bright with her effulgent nature and sometimes maybe even a tad too intensely glaring, then yoori can be likened to moonlight. she is the calm amidst danbiâs chaos, and with her dazzling luminosity casting light upon everything around her in even the darkest of nights, sheâs also a force to be reckoned with â a blaze that dares to light up the velvet dark of the night. and as different as the sun and moon are, they are interdependent, neither can exist without the other. despite not having known each other for too long, saying that yoori is important to her would be the understatement of the century. sheâs an indispensable presence. which is why she can only hope that even admist all the unhappy bits of this engagement, yoori finds the happy ones as well, because her roommateâs happiness matters just as much to her as her own.
âeven if itâs a forced mother-daughter thing, itâs a once in a lifetime experience! that has to count for something.â putting on an encouraging smile, she leans her head against yooriâs shoulder and gives a small sigh. âeven if itâs hard to be excited for that when when the conditions for this marriage are so⌠unfavourable, i guess we could take heart in the thought that⌠i donât know, your husband is hot?â her eyebrows waggle as she bursts into yet another fit of girly giggles. as much as she finds jongin intolerable half the time, nobody can deny that yoori did land herself an attractive man. still, she knows better than to expect that someone as unbending as yoori would be magically be okay with being forced into a life-changing circumstance like this just because jongin is good-looking to some degree.
having been dwelling on the problematic dynamics of this engagement and this family, danbi almost forgot that all the fun aspects of a marriage are still actually going to be a part of this marital union between yoori and jongin, until yoori poses the question and a loud gasp leaves her. âoh my god, yoori! of course i will!â the corners of her mouth quirk up into a broad grin before she lets out a hushed scream, careful not to be disturbing any of their neighbours at this time of the night. âbeing a maid of honor is literally a dream come true for me! especially because iâm going to be standing next to the most beautiful bride in the world!â a sigh leaves her again, though this time itâs a loud dreamy sigh, as the image of her standing next to yoori, the both of them donned in glamorous dresses.
the grin quickly fades into a mere half-smile as the conversation continues though, the bittersweet feelings rushing into her heart once more. âa crush⌠well⌠i donât know, it feels different with every person, but at the end of the day, i think you just want to see the person who has caught your fancy all the time? you do stupid things like running out of class just so you can catch a glimpse of him walking past, or walking back and forth at the cafeteria so he sees you but being too scared to check if heâs looking anyway. you feel like you could sit and listen to him tell you everything he has to say, all the stories about him, and like you could tell him all the stories about you, too.â
âYour eyes are independent are they?â She inquires quirking an eyebrow before joining in the laughter, the kind that bubbles up and keeps coming until you are gasping for breath. It was side effects of being friends with Danbi, you begin to laugh so often it becomes a chore to frown. How different Yoori had become just because she knew Danbi. Their relationship reminded her often of the musical Wicked especially âchanged for goodâ where the lyrics reminisced that they were both changed from their friendship and the change was permanent and they could never go back to who they were before. To Yoori at least, the song rang true. Because of Danbi there was irreparable change that she needed to take responsibility for in the method of being her friend forever.Â
Danbi was right, of course she was. Her sisters never got a big wedding or any of the special aspects of the ceremony that Yoori was afforded. All of them either went to the court house or had a small ceremony outside with only family around and only one bouquet as decoration. âYour right, I should just enjoy the process right? Itâs not everyday that you get the wedding of the century. Thatâs at least what they keep calling it in the papers.â She sighs shifting her neck slightly to make room for Danbiâs head, âphotographers follow Mrs. Kim and I everywhere we go, taking pictures and demanding answer. Marrying rich comes with quite the publicity it seems.â She mumbles mostly to herself before glancing at her friend before shaking her head fighting a smile. âHeâs not terrible looking, that I will admit. Heâs been handsome since our first year in high school, and only got worse from there.â Worse meaning more attractive but Yoori trusted she didnât have to spell that out for her friend. âItâs no wonder he can get his hands on every woman he wants.âÂ
Letting that slip, she covers her mouth as she realizes what has been said. There is no turning back now, might as well admit it. âDanbi, I do not want you to come to my wedding ignorant of the facts of my relationship. And thought itâs a secret, I trust that you will keep my confidence...but I am sorry for not telling you earlier.â Taking a deep breath in, itâs difficult to take the happy wind from her sails of being the bridesmaid but she needed to know the truth. âAs you know, Jongin and I are in an arranged marriage. Put together in high school and pushed to even now. One of the caveats is that since we do not love one another and barely tolerate each other, we are free to see whomever we want. That is to say, Jongin has been unfaithful since the jump and has decidedly never stopped cheating on me.â She swallows hard, âfor years I didnât mind since it meant other women kept him busy instead of me. But recently, I have tried to venture out with my own affairs. Out of jealousy maybe or maybe the need for revenge. Iâm not sure what has changed inside me but it feels new.âÂ
As Danbi describes a crush, she says so with such fragility that Yoori instinctively takes her hand in hers. âIs it painful?â She almost whispers even when they have been speaking in a normal volume up until now. Her own mind whirls with the words she says, the way she describes it seems almost too familiar to Yoori even if the last person she had a crush on was years ago. âDo you have a crush on someone Danbi?âÂ
axel-sgnâ:
âToo true,â Axel sighed, feeling more tired than he should. Such heavy topics of conversation were taxing for someone as optimistic as he. âThey arenât. Canât tell you how many stressful nights and days Iâve endured dealing with financial aid. On and off campus.â The musician added, fighting off the rather dramatic shiver his body longed to produced. And if he closed his eyes, he could still hear that god awful muzak playing from being on hold for so damn long. âGuess I saved a country or something because Iâve been really lucky as of late.â Axel mused, wondering just how life worked out for him in the manner it did. Especially when everyone, including Axel at times, thought heâd never make it out of Atlanta, Georgia. âDepends on what theyâre disagreeing about. Youâre an intelligent woman, it isnât hard to see the validity in the points you make. Unless theyâre assholes with a combative spirit. Some people really like that in the opposite sex.â He added with a gummy smile, nudging her side gently with his elbow. âYeah, my mom thinks it makes me great marriage material.â Axel cackled, head tilted back as he stared at the ceiling. âNot that I disagree but you know, Iâd like to date someone first.â He concluded, gaze focusing back on Yoori. She really is beautiful. âWeâll let the broth simmer, soak up that umami.â
âItâs nice to have someone else get it. With a few exceptions, Iâm usually surrounded by affluent students. I know itâs not their fault that they were born wealthy but sometimes I canât help but feel a distance between us.â She glances up as he speaks about his luck before nodding thoughtfully, itâs good he was having success in his field since he seemed to have passion for it and those with love for what they do always make good work. âWhat a different tune then what you were singing earlier~â She teased nudging him right back as she laughed a little at the irony of his arguing with her so feverently earlier and how he seems to find her smart now. âI do tend to spend time with assholes, but I can usually handle it just fine.â His next words have her slightly envious to be able to date before marrying. God, what a life that would be. By the time Yoori could consider serious romantic relationships, she was already in her contract with Jongin. What a different life she could have led. âYou date often then? A musician with good tastes has to be quite popular at Seongnam.â As she puts a lid on the top, she looks back at Axel catching him staring as she tilts her head. âWhatâs that look about?â She inquires with a small smile, what could he be thinking about?
sgntaehoâ:
he has no clue whatâs going on in yooriâs life or her relationship. sure, he hears periodic whispers, mostly about the⌠liberties taken on jonginâs end. but heâs spent too much time around the âfakeâ news machine that is his fatherâs media company that he has a hard time believing everything that passes through rumor mill unless he has a firsthand source. besides, regardless of how true or false the basis of the girlsâ provocations were, it wasnât a tell-all of how yoori felt about it all. though judging from how she quit her original group, he figures it couldnât be anything particularly positive â but again, not his place to over-prescribe the condition, given how little sheâs ever expressed to him about it. all he knows is that sheâs not on top of her game today; that is, if verbal confrontations were a game. and in taehoâs worldly view, it certainly was.Â
he doesnât like how sheâs responding to his prodding either: low spirits, strangely introspective, and seemingly legitimately hurt. âokay, then how about you maybe⌠stop? stop reeking of easy prey. crazy idea, huh?â from the disgruntled twinge in his voice, itâs hard to tell if heâs giving earnest advise or rubbing salt in the wound. so he pauses, forcing himself to tame the aggression and heaves a heavy sigh before continuing. âlook â nobodyâs asking you to be a bloodthirsty predator. but how about you stop letting the bottom-most rungs of the animal kingdom over thereââ he motions with his head at the snooty cluster of girls, who giggle nervously and frantically avoid eye contact with him when he does ââstep all over you? itâs getting uncomfortable for people to watch, alright?â by âpeople,â heâs talking about himself but of course doesnât specify.
itâs hard to say why heâs even getting so worked up over this incident. to a bystander it might even seem like he was the one who was wronged and not her. did he have a tendency to feel for the underdog? maybe⌠but the strange thing was that he didnât even consider yoori to be a traditional underdog per say. just as his level of annoyance is hitting a ceiling however, her latest comment takes it to the next level. âsorry to disappoint?â he repeats after her in disbelief in slight mockery, a little louder than intended and therefore earning him a glare from the professor. clearing his throat, he hushes himself again. âthe only person you should be apologizing to or worry about disappointing is yourself. my gosh, i didnât take you for such a pushover.â again, an insult at surface level, but if anyone were paying attention, his eyes werenât as combative as the moment prior.Â
By virtue of being who she is, an intimidating tall woman with a sharp look in her eyes with her engagement to potentially the most dangerous man at the school. Song Yoori is usually never pushed. Sure, sheâs gawked at from a distance or judged from up close like the girls did earlier but not outright shoved. Not giving all the strength to look her in the eyes as she backs towards a cliff and watch as she falls. No one but Jongin did that. Yet, before her, someone was challenging her. Not academically which she enjoyed or even vying for her fiancee which she detested. This provocation stirred something new in her that she couldnât quite place as she meets the eyes of the provocateur and tries to decode her own thoughts.Â
âI was never.â She stops herself hearing how wounded she must sound as she rolls back her shoulders and clears her throat but keeps the same low level volume as earlier but more clearly now. Taking his advice right away and refusing to mumble even if she does whisper. âI was never supposed to even be in the food chain, Iâm not even sure how I got here.â Running her fingers through her hair as she tries to tune out the girls from before, âitâs hard to argue when they only present facts, Taeho. I have nothing to dispute. They have slept with my fiancee, and I am a woman of no esteem. Not according to this school.â If only they argued that she didnât deserve him or that he was too good for him. But no, they made low blows that they knew were true and how could she refute them? âI didnât used to mind the cheating, it helped me out if anything. Kept him out of my hair at least.â She half smiles about this before slouching slightly, âbut...â she doesnât go on as she lets her eyes trail downwards.Â
As he raises her voice, she is shook for a moment as brown orbs dart from the professor and the rest of the group who stopped for a moment to stare at the two in their own discussion. âTaeho.â She starts but so does he as his words cut into her, for a moment she wonders for a moment why he even cares. They were just classmates, barely even friends if they were honest but yet here he was almost rooting for her. âYou-have a funny way of being kind.â There is a rare smile the kind that sneaks on your face and pulls on the corners ever so slightly, one accompanied almost with tears in her eyes as she blinks them away in a moment. âCan you read my story next? My last group were too busy nit picking to actually help me.â The girls seem to notice this, but for added measure Yoori handed Taeho her story before turning slightly in her chair as she bared a smirk. âI guess itâs not their fault, how are they supposed to know what substance looks like? Their too busy being full of hot air.â
sgnwooseokâ:
he laughs, fully understanding how she felt. heâs the same way, relying on caffeine to make it through the day. heâs a lot better now than he used to be though, after his brief stint in the hospital heâs been trying to wean himself off of his caffeine addiction, trying to only have one or two coffees a day. heâs been sticking to green tea when possible, but he still finds himself slipping into his bad habits sometimes. itâs terrible.Â
âyeah, half half as usual,â he agrees easily before he finishes typing in their order and checking the price, pointedly ignoring all the gazes on them. itâs worse right now than usual, because of their attire and location, but wooseok keeps his head held high. itâs nothing new at this point, just something that he needed to endure. only a bit longer and heâd get to graduate and be finished with seongnam. he glances around once heâs gotten the receipt, checking for where yoori was before walking over and sitting down across from her. âi got us a sprite,â he comments, smiling. âlarge, for the caffeine but no worry for stains.â
Yooriâs eyes tracked after Wooseok as presumably everyone in the fast food lobby did as the well dressed man sat across from her. âAh, I see the scholarship is well earned.â She notes at his thought of not ruining their attire, or her makeup she presumes. Not that she cares personally since the Kim family sent far too many fancy clothes anyway. âArenât you hot in that getup? Iâm always cold in mine. Itâs funny how formal clothes make it so no one is comfortable the the thermostat is constantly flunctuating.â
Their number came up and out of habit Yoori perked up as she stood up, âIâll get it.â Swaying her way to the counter she took the tray into her hands as she began the balancing act back to her seat. Placing it down, she lays everything out as she grabs the closest napkin to wipe off her lipstick. âI donât wanna get the straw stained, how gross would that be?â This is exactly why she hates wearing makeup, itâs so burdensome to eat. âAlright, letâs eat.â She smiles as she takes a fry in her mouth immedietly. Â

My Fair Lady had so many iconic songs that Yoori had seared into her memories forever, but in the moment where her feet throbbed and hairline collected sweat she felt acutely that she could have danced all night. Even after at least a dozen dances with different partners and friends she still felt her heart thrum for more, to glide across the ballroom once more. How she had missed out on so much by never learning this style of dancing until recently, how graceful and beautiful it was. How light she felt as she spun around in the arms of someone guiding her, even when it was clumsy or inexperienced as some of these men were. It didnât matter to her, she loved the feeling all the same. She wondered would they dance this way at her wedding, Jonginâs arm at her waist and his hand in hers. A position they were accustomed enough to by now, but in this context it felt different.Â
Just the thought of dancing with Jongin now made her dizzy as she hadnât been all night. Excusing herself from her current partner, she ambled her way over to the balcony where the cool night air greeted her as the curtains brushed her face as she threw open the doors and breathed out. How long had she been holding that breath for? Since she began dancing? Or just the moment that her fiance had crossed her mind. Well it was the only way she had seen him the entire evening, as the couple decided to go separately unlike the assumption. Spending an entire summer gave them enough together time to last a lifetime, and yet they would spend theirs together anyway.Though she would be shocked if both lived their life expectancy while in matrimony, half expected them to kill one another as soon as the vows conclude.Â
Maybe Jongin was drinking as he always did at these sort of events, maybe hooked up with a masked woman already. She swallows hard, and leans against the railing as she hears someone walking in and slowly turning around, the moon behind her as a light to identify the stranger striding in. In the dark, her eyes adjust and land on a tall handsome fellow with goblin like accessories adorning his attire. At least he followed the theme well, she was sure that Jongin probably wore the same boring black tuxedo he always does. It probably gets all the ladies. God, why did every man make her think of that asshole? He definitely wasnât returning the favor, she probably wasnât even a passing thought when his weighted gaze landed on other women. After a moment in her own head, she realizes her manners and bows slowly before moving over just a bit to make room for him. âGood evening.â
