At first there was only darkness. Gazelle looked around before slowly sitting up. "Where am I?" She tried remember what had gotten her here. The last thing she remembered was fighting the agent trying to stop her boss. Every nerve was telling her something as wrong. "Is someone there?"
Mictecacihuatl felt a change in her realm before she heard the voice. A new soul, finally. She sent shadows to lead the woman to the right place. Itâd be a shame if one of the monsters her brother made were to eat her so soon.
When she felt the woman closer, she hummed softly, stirring her tea. âForgive the lack of a welcome. We havenât had company here in a few centuries⊠give or take.â The goddess made sure to hide her true form, afraid she might frighten this one. Modern humans seemed so much more frail than those who used to pray to her.

"I've never been wrong about this," she replied as the cup filled itself with whiskey. "Now to decide what you shall do while you're here..."
âDarling, youâre going to sleep the day away,â Cristina cooed, stroking Lucasâs hair lovingly as she sat beside him in bed. âI brought you tea. And lots of kisses.â
He took a breath and started to stretch. "That sounds like a good day," he mumbled, looking up at her.
"I'd enjoy that," he admitted, glancing at her. "When would you like to leave," he teasingly added.
Cristina giggled a bit and stroked his hair. âWell, if you give me an hour to shower off the lovemaking from last night and get ready, then we can go.â
He sighed and nodded. "I think I can survive an hour," he joked, kissing her before letting her go.

âGet to the point. Why have you summoned me?â
One of the wolves snapped at an approaching foe, lashing out to try and ward them back. âIf you are not the dragon,â grinned the wolf âthen you, too, are tresspassing. I suppose we are in the same situation. Why donât we cut a deal and split the deer herd?â
He smiled at that, the clones around them laughing. "I have no need for the deer," Luke replied, teleporting the other wolves away one at a time. "And I don't cut deals with your kind." With that, he shifted form into a giant bear, roaring as he started to rush forward.

The panthers were young and fearful. They cowered behind a couple wolves when the coyotes came close. The lead wolf snarled. âThe dragon up in the caves wonât kill us, so why should we stop?â The wolf snapped at the opponent.
The coyote didn't flinch, the others starting to circle. "I'm not the dragon," he pointed out. As he seemed to smile, his clones stepped closer. "You have two minutes to leave, or I'll have new pelts for rugs."

The shiftlings continued the chase, sniffing around the trees and when catching sight of the fleeting figures, they wouls be off again. As soon as they coyote figures came into view, the mutated wolf figure skidded fo a halt, growling lowly. A couple panthers whimpered whenever they locked eyes with the bloody red orbs.
One of the large coyotes stepped forward as the others started to growl and prepare to attack. "You're trespassing," he warned, watching each of them closely. He let his clones take a few steps, amused at the fear from the panthers.

"But if we have our picnic, I could be the most comfortable pillow you've ever had," he pointed out, making a basket appear beside her.
Cristina laughed softly and reached over, running her fingers over the wicker of the basket. âThatâs true, and thereâs nothing better than being with you.â
He nodded and smiled a bit. "Look inside," he whispered. The basket already had some of her favorite fruits inside and a few things to make sandwiches.
She smiled wider when he told her to look inside, and a soft gasp left her lips as she saw what he put in it. âYou never fail to amaze me. With magic or otherwise, my love,â she purred.
"I try... Seeing you happy makes me feel light," he mused, kissing her head. "Is there any particular place you'd like to take this picnic?"

The goddess smiled with the movement. "I have a brother you should meet. I think the two of you would get along wonderfully," she noted, making a cup appear for the woman. "Would you like anything?"

Bryn watched as the shiftlings all slowed their pace. A lanky wolf with two tails seemed to notice how the shadows were shifting and changing. With the illusions becoming more noticable, the intruders appeared somewhat uneasy until the spotted the deer, immediately giving chase.
That was what he wanted. Luke made the deer run, disappearing into shadows. Once the shiftlings were all far enough into the woods, he made copies of himself and surrounded them, each version appearing as a huge coyote with blood red eyes.

Bryn grinned, glad that he would so readily lean into the proposition. With a hand outstretched, she grabbed onto him and waited for it.
The location that the Tsu'lin usually came to was on the edge of the forest that composed of the western side of the dragonâs territory. Trees became much less dense as it opened into a meadow and stream.
Lucas took her to a place where she could watch, using the moment to look over the area and familiarize himself with everything. âAny special requests for what youâd like to see?â
The girl shook her head, saying, ânope. Juat do what you do best.â Her grin was crooked and mischevious. In the field, about six shiftlings had already begun to prowl towards the trees, hunting the deer nearby.
He bowed and shifted into a large coyote as he disappeared. Luke started by manipulating the shadows of the woods to throw off the shiftlings. This allowed him time to make sure none of the deer in the area would be harmed. In their place, he created the illusion of deer and then waited to cause some chaos.

"Then I'll be sure to make the show amusing for you," he replied. Luke nodded and glanced at the map again, offering his hand to teleport them closer to the site. "Ready when you are."

Of course. There was always a price to pay. The shifter silently gestured for the god to follow her. A package had been prepared for him, stashed away in a small vault in the wall. Bryn approached an alcove in the cave and pulled out a small parcel, wrapped up neatly in brown paper. â30 Greek silver coins and a copy of Reign of Tongues, one from my personal collection. It dates back nearly four hundred years, bound with the flesh and scales of Brindlewall, the green dragon of the Northâ she offered to him.
He followed behind her, watching in silence. When he saw the items, he finally smiled. "How could I refuse this task now," he asked. "Would you like to watch the festivities or just hear the story after I'm finished?"
