@tformer90
Back in 2009, there was quite the heated debate in Sweden regarding media piracy. In response to this, Egmont, one of Scandinavia’s largest magazine publishers, pushed a comic in their weekly Kalle Anka (Donald Duck) magazine where Donald decides to pirate a newfangled CD. I’ve taken the liberty to translate this comic for everyone’s amusement. Enjoy!
The Machtrix: Reloaded
Mech iDeas - Gauntlet
Yeah, not usually a fan of unofficial stuff. But I have a massive desire for anything Ironfist and this thing is just spot on to his IDW design. I knew from the start that I just had to have it.
We need to take back this ship.
Combaticons, combine into Bruticus!
S.H.Figuarts Kamen Rider 1 (Old version)
I have a soft spot for the début version of the original Kamen Rider suit. There’s something oddly compelling about the low budget design and the limited colour palette that just simply clicks with me.
Transformers TakaraTomy Legends Jetfire
It’s amazing what a few key paint apps and an overall improvement in plastic quality and joint tolerances will do for a figure. I have had the Hasbro version of Jetfire sitting on my shelf since before Christmas and have barely touched him. A large part of that was due to a chunk of chrome flaking off every time I touched him but the other part is that he would mistransform every time I tried to pose him. The Takara version does not have that problem at all! This was how the figure was meant to be all along. The funny thing is that it could have been exactly how the Hasbro version was if they hadn’t opted for chrome as I am sure that ate up a large part of the paint budget. Either way I am happy with the Takara version now. It’s fantastic that there are places like HLJ and Mandarake that we can pick up Takara decos of figures if we prefer for not too much of a mark up compared to the North American releases. If you have the means grab this version. You won’t be disappointed.
I told myself I’d be happy with the Hasbro version (which I am), but photos like these really tell me I should double dip in a figure, or at least learn how to paint a little bit.
G2 Autorollers
Another pair of childhood favourites. I don’t care that they’re complete bricks from the waist down, these are a ton of fun to transform back and forth, back and forth, back and forth...
Some random photos from my portfolio I’m quite happy with. The Gaim and Baron one in particular is one of my absolute favourite shots ever.
This did not make me want Accel Form any less. It’s the last Faiz form Figuart I need and of course it’s quite expensive and not exactly easy to find.
Right, so, taking a break from spamming tumblr with old photos from my so called portfolio to touch on a subject that actually matters to people.
As many if not most of you may have heard by now, this year’s Auto Assembly will be the last ever, which is absolutely heartbreaking news for pretty much all us geeks. I had the pleasure of attending in 2014 and it was a lot of fun. I was hoping to be able to make it an annual event for me, but alas.
Now, onto the main point. Twitter has rejuvenated the Transformers fandom for me. I’ve made a lot more friends via that platform in a couple of years than I’ve made via multiple forums in a decade. I was fortunate enough to meet a few of them in person last year, but I’m also aware of the fact that I missed a few others. Something I do not wish to happen again. Therefore, I’ve been toying with the thought of arranging a small meetup of some sort where people can just get together, have a chat, shake hands and just generally have fun. Who knows, you might even earn a few new followers or meet someone new you’d like to follow (which sounds incredibly stalker-ish, now that I think about it. But isn’t that what social media is all about? No? Just me? Okay).
So, what do people think? Yay or nay? It probably won’t be anything fancy, at most we’d probably just occupy a nice corner of the Hilton’s bar on a suitable evening.
Spread the word and more information will follow if there’s enough interest and when there’s more information regarding the convention as a whole.
Cheers! https://twitter.com/Tformer90
*PS* Just to clarify, in case the horrible comic sans text in the image isn’t enough. I’m not officially involved with neither AA nor Twitter.
Generation 2 - Laser Rod Jolt
It’s no secret that I’m borderline obsessed with G2. The toys and “cartoon” were what I primarily grew up with Transformers wise. Jolt here is one of the ones I have fond memories of owning way back when. The hotrod mode (with realistic styling) is killer and he’s plenty articulated considering his age.
Kamen Rider Drive | Meet Professor Harley Hendrickson
"Shut up, Krim! "
Transformer unfamiliarity with human concepts = comedy.
Maketoys Trash-talk
I’ll go ahead and say it, I’m really not a big fan of this big unofficial Transformers thing for various reasons I won’t go into at this point. That said, I’m a massive hypocrite and can’t resist figures based on the brilliant MTMTE comic. This guy just hits all the sweet spots.
Transforming sushi, Osushi Sentai Schallyder, by Takara Tomy. Not sure what I can say about these, really. They’re all extremely basic and share the same springloaded transformation scheme. Articulation is limited to waving their arms about a bit. But they’re a fun novelty for anyone interested in Japanese culture.
So, I guess I finally got one of dem Tumblrs...
Well, it happened. After years of being on the internet I finally caved and got myself one of those Tumblr blogs hip, young people kept going on about.
I’ll mostly use this as an outlet for my photography. I take photos of toys, toys, figures, toys, more figures and occasionally toys. So if you like cheese, you’ve come to the wrong place. Sorry! The cheese tumblr is just down the street.
