Just a thought. Maybe when someone you loved left you because they thought you deserve someone better, they really meant that.
Maybe if they stayed, you would never reach your potentials. Maybe if they stayed, you would never turn out to be the person you are today. Maybe they left because they didn’t want to keep on hurting you. Maybe they left because they really wanted to see you happy. Maybe they left because they couldn’t bear the thought of you leaving. Maybe they really loved you but they knew that wasn’t enough.
They knew that if you continued to be with them in the relationship, sooner or later, you would leave them. Hence, they left you first. And reading all these doesn’t mend your broken heart, it makes you hate them more. Because all they truly did was being unfair to you.
If they really loved you, they should have stayed. They should have fought for you with all their might, not just walked away like that. But love is never enough for two people two stay together in a relationship. A relationship needs more than just love to stay pertinent. Maybe they really loved you but they found it hard to be themselves when they were with you. They didn’t want to lie to themselves anymore.
It was all sweet and heaven in the beginning. The chasing phase was very exciting, wasn’t it? But every good thing comes to an end. They were all romantic and kind to you at first because they wanted to impress you and they successfully did that, didn’t they?
But as time passed, when you two were somewhat official, they stopped doing whatever they did to win you in the beginning.
Maybe they got bored of you, maybe. But for me, I personally think they got tired of pretending to be someone that they were not. Their day to day stresses in life got the best out of them. The responsibilities and priorities all came back messing with their love.
And it all went south from there, wasn’t it? You two couldn’t help but to argue and fight more and more every day. All of a sudden, you weren’t sure what to make of the relationship anymore. But then you told yourself that you could work it all out. And working it all out you did. You surely did your best, I’m sure of that. From there, maybe everything turned out to be okay, maybe not.
But one thing for sure, it wasn’t enough to stop them from leaving. And trust me, it really wasn’t your fault at all. It was them.
Commitment is terrifying and maybe they weren’t ready for that. Maybe you wanted to wait for them to be, but they didn’t want you to. Or maybe they had a number of issues that they themselves couldn’t solve. And maybe these made them think how undeserving they are of you.
