“Yes, I would enjoy to believe that time is long past.” The time they were children, which had been so, so long ago, sometimes it was difficult to record that they had indeed been so young after all.
Curiosity glimmered in Hypnos’ golded hues of his eyes, and he could hardly conceal the discreet amused smile which at last appeared on his lips - before Thanatos claimed them, that is.
Death could be many things, yet Sleep would often forget how romantic it, too, could also be. Not that Hypnos was allured by it, no… Not even a tiny bit.
He returned the kiss with even more softly, resting his free hand at the crook of Thanatos’ neck.
Why, perhaps just a little.
“So flirtatious. Death has no shame.” He muttered onto Thanatos lips with a small smile, meeting his gaze with lidded eyes. “The comparison with a maiden is not flattering, yet… your attempt was honest, and I assume it should be rewarded.”
Thus, it was Hypnos time to plant a kiss onto his twin’s lips, aiming for the lower one, making it gentle, making it linger. How odd this was, for it made his previous irritation vanish as if it had been nothing. How well he felt… in Death’s embrace.
“Death has nothing to be ashamed of. I am the end of everything, within me, everything disappears- So what is left to feel shame about?” Rather than shame, Thanatos might feel something akin to irritation, were someone to end up seeing them like that, but that was mostly due to the fact that he preferred his privacy to remain as such- Private, as the name suggested. And Death had no appreciation for nosy people, be it his own handmaidens or lesser Specter who, alas, would meet a premature end,
If it were for him, he’d reserve a similar treatment for Hypnos’ own sons, but he knew better than to meddle with sleeps’ affairs, even if sometimes the tentation was undoubtedly strong.
“I was chasing no reward, if not that of seeing you give me less of a cold shoulder- And I do admit that my comparison was mostly aiming to get a riseout of you- Which it did, in a way.” He was no affectionate individual, that much was obvious, but there was no denying Hypnos had an incredibly easy time bringing out what little of affection laid buried deep within Death’s soul- Just enough to make him return the kiss, not delving too far into it, letting it linger as long as Sleep wished, but without going much further- His interest was in making him feel better, afterall. And if leading a little would make Hypnos serene again, it wouldn’t hurt to yield.
