Stuff I Don't Want to Forget about my Kids // January 2015
💙Jackson💙 ▫️1.2.5 — Tim took the big kids with him to turn in our recycling. He gave each of the kids a dollar after they left for helping him. Jackson’s first response to what he will do with his money: “I’m gunna give it to Jesus at church!!” ▫️really knows his letter sounds pretty well — we practice them just a little every day ☺️ ▫️would eat these fried eggs that Tim makes for every meal - he calls them “my favorite eggs” ▫️has learned to throw and catch the football pretty well ▫️has definitely learned the eye roll this month — and has learned what happens when he does it to mom and dad 😏 ▫️only wanting to wear “big boy” clothes to bed — no more cute PJs 😔 ▫️has taught Haven that soldier “sound off” song: “I don’t know what I’ve been told…” and they love singing it during bath time — it keeps things super mellow and relaxing 😏 ▫️had his first “sleepover” at a friend’s house this month (Jacob 😊) so he could attend an event at his church…on a school night 😁 Overall he did fine, but he sure didn’t sleep much and boy did he brag about it at school the next day 😏 ▫️started baseball this month (finally!!) and after a few practices, we are sure that he is basically in heaven // he has two awesome coaches who are dads and teachers and has several friends we already know on his team. ▫️is really making headway with using his words and “controlling his emotions” (as we call it) when in a conflict situation at home ▫️NIGHTTIME potty-trained!! We know most 3 year olds can do this…but for this 5 year old, we are CELEBRATING that he has finally reached this milestone 😊 ▫️has fully developed a genuine crush on a girl in my class!! They play “chase” every chance they get on the playground ☺️ We have had to have many dinner table talks already about what’s OK and NOT OK to do with girls as he has already attempted to KISS her and I myself have caught him hugging her (too much!!) during outdoor playtime 🙈 The crush is mutual, and she DAILY asks me when she’ll “see Jackson” again and tells her friends at the lunch table that “she’s going to play with Jackson today” …not gunna lie, I was a little relieved when her parents told me they were going to put her in public kinder next year 😁
💜Haven💜 ▫️”For goodness sakes, Jackson!” ▫️”I need to go potty like 1 million times from drinking water and stuff!” ▫️”Oh, come here, Waylyn! Let’s play! You wanna do dat? Huh?” ((every single day)) **sisters😍** Haven ALWAYS let’s Ray have whatever she wants when they play. Unless Raylyn barges in on an art project of Haven’s, Haven generally lets Raylyn explore and play and engages her to her heart’s content. ▫️would sit at our little art table all day and color, glue, and cut things — and then leave them ALL over the house 😏 ▫️appetite has increased - I think she’s in a growth spurt…she has started to eat more like Jackson - including entire CONTAINERS of food, like berries, in one sitting. My entire paycheck is pretty much going to put food on the table these days. As my Nana said, “Better to pay the grocer than the doctor.” 😏😊 ▫️has totally mastered writing her first name — I am already finding I have to be very careful with comparing J and H with academics and am really praying about preparing my heart for mothering them when J starts “real school” They will always only be one grade apart (they’re “Irish Twins”), and their strengths are SO different. ▫️enjoys being her little eccentric self when we’re at school and out and about — she doesn’t seem to care what anyone thinks of her as she doddles along in her own little world 😊 ▫️will read aloud to herself during rest time at home for an hour a day -/ listening to the things she comes up with is hysterical as she narrates books. ▫️really obsessed with Frozen songs more now that we’ve been to that area at Disneyland a few times — and I’m working on patience when she asks for the soundtrack CD in car for the 4936863 time 😏
💛Raylyn💛 ▫️rippin’ and roarin’ through life ▫️always longs for the outdoors 😊 ▫️literally has made it her life calling to do anything and everything her older siblings do — I have to stop a few times a day and laugh because it’s just so funny to see a 13 month old walk around doing so “not 13 month old-looking things” — like eating a granola bar out of the wrapper, trying to peel an orange, sitting in a chair at our art table water coloring, riding a scooter, swinging a baseball bat 😳, the list goes ON ▫️can open closed doors now 😏 ▫️still loves pretty much anything we give her to eat — of course prefers carbs, but she’s pretty easy-going about variety right now and I’m definitely counting this as a major GIFT ▫️MLK weekend milestone: CLEARLY starting singing the tune of “Let it Go” continually as she played throughout her days - SO HILARIOUS. I brought it up to Tim after I had heard her a few times and we just laughed about it every time she did it. We kinda just thought it was a silly thing people make up about their own baby — until other people outside our fam recognized it too! No lyrics of course, but very clear chorus melody - I cannot even type this without laughing about it right now. Ever since then, she has made it her job to sing this tune. By the end of this month now, she even does arm wave movements to the song. I cannot handle it. 😂😂😂 ▫️signs “more,” “all done,” and “please,” but truly believes in using her lungs at all costs before signing anything ☺️ ▫️speaking of singing, this kids “sings” ALL day long. She’s always “AAAAaaaaaaaAAA” and “DaaaaDAAAAA!!!” -ing whenever she’s playing around the house and has started doing it in her car seat too😍 ▫️Naps 1.5-2 hrs MAX a day. Goes hard from 5:50-6:00amish till 6:30-7:00pmish or so with a mid-day nap. The kid is relentless. ▫️nicknames: Hutz, Hutz the Gutz, Ray-Ray, Raylyzzz, Rayly, Nootza (SUPER WEIRD, I KNOW.)
Oops, the donut shop is one block from baseball practice 🐷
J has even begun to eat meals wearing his baseball helmet ☺️
"Workout" of the week😏, J's first sleepover, a box of chocolate for dinner, play date, and Ray breaking in our new stock of toys borrowed from my classroom 😊
Daily messes that happen in 2 seconds + picnic
J’s first practice with his Angels! 😊
My new excuse to leave work by 330 on Wednesdays 🎉🎊👏👏
Didn’t get too many quality pictures due to the fact that Haven and Raylyn were running wild, but I would say day one was a success 😊 He's very “middle of the pack” on his team so far and he was stoked that his classmate Ryder is on his team too. THANK YOU, GOD FOR OUR COMMUNITY. ☺️
Truth + Ray's Wednesdays with Daddy ❤️
Haven LOVES getting to sing with the Frozen friends 😊
Ray very much felt like she should've been able to go too 😊
My pictures of this aren't great at all, but I had to capture this sweet memory -- one of the Disney employees noticed that I was there with my kids alone and saw that I could not take my two older kids on the toboggan/slide thing because I had too many kids by myself (and R was too young to go on it). After Jackson made friends with him and started throwing snowballs with him, he offered to take both Haven and Jackson to the front of the line to ride down on the slide with him. It was so, so kind of him - Disney employees never cease to amaze me!
