Taylor Swift “You Belong With Me”

I cannot even begin to describe how nostalgic I feel when I listen to this song. I remember being 9-years-old and running upstairs with my 13-year-old sister to watch this music video. We turned on our old box computer typical of the 2000s and went to our local country radio’s website. From there we would go straight to Taylor Swift to watch “You Belong With Me,” “Teardrops On My Guitar,” and “Love Story.” However, our favorite by far was You Belong With Me. There was something so relatable even as a 9-year-old who had never had a crush. I was a tomboy. I didn’t like skirts or high heels. You Belong With Me is so amazing because it celebrates being a girl who isn’t super popular. It celebrates rocking out alone in your room in an old t-shirt with a hairbrush in hand. I am so grateful that I had a role model as wonderful as Taylor when I was young. I’m glad that she continues to be a role model for young kids even now.  Thank you, @taylorswift for bringing my childhood such joy and happiness. Thank you for modeling both feminity and feminism in one beautiful celebration of being a woman. Love, Heather

This is Me.

I have wanted to create this tumblr page for a while but I wasn’t sure if I was ready to be this emotionally vulnerable to the internet yet. But then Taylor Swift’s new song “This is Me!” came out. It inspired me to share my story and thank Taylor for her part in it. In this blog, I will share how individual Swift songs helped develop me into the person I am today. This is my story. This is me.
