VEGAN DAILY RECIPE: Broccoli Curry Udon
Dinner
Day 6
Breakfast - None
Lunch - None
Dinner - Steamed Veggies & Rice, Popcorn, Leftover Mac & Cheese (from Ari), Peanut Butter Toast.
Exercise - none
You can pay me now, or you can pay me later. The day got off to a very busy start. Not only did I have nothing appropriate for breakfast in the morning because I was too tired to go shopping the day before (because I wasn't practicing what I wanted to to), but I had to run out quickly to begin work.
Lunch came, and went, and I was nowhere near a place to eat. While I had energy and focus for the day, I really neglected my needs, and when I came home, after running to the store to pick up fresh veggies, noodles, and a Valentie's Day Card, I realized just how hungry I was.
How strange is it to be overweight by 60 pounds and still be hungry. It was all I could do to prevent myself from eating everything I had just purchased.
My intentions were to have a nice healthy dinner, but there just weren't enough calories in it to make up for the deficit from the earlier part of the day. And my eating collapsed, as I did at 7:00 in the evening.
Good news is that I have healthy meal options now.
Day 5
A complete fail
Breakfast: None
Lunch: Instant Potato, veggie patty, tortillas, egg salad
Dinner: Veggie Burger + Fries from PTerry
Exercise: None
Although I slept well, I was exhausted at the end of the day. I knew I had to go shopping to restock my pantry, but fell short on time. And I suffered. Fully expected.
Tomorrow is a new day, and a fresh start. Make every day the best you can! Get back on the horse! Just do it!
Day 4 -
No Yoga, and my diet began to slip.
Breakfast - Blueberry Banana Smoothie
Lunch - Udon Noodles with spinach and leftover Cauliflower
Dinner - Leftover Lunch
And guess what happened. Low Energy, 9 o’clock to bed, and woke up at 3:30, sleepless. Just like my old patterns.
And this is pattern in itself - I start a new "program" and several days later begin to slide.
How does one keep the habits up? The habits that create a new lifestyle?
All I can figure out is that we recognize that we slip, and try again. If you fall off the horse, just get back on it. It's OK to make mistakes, which is something that is really hard for me. I'd rather not try, than to face defeat or failure.
So Three steps forward, two steps back. Hopefully this will turn to 5 steps forward 2 steps back, and then 10 steps forward and 1 step back, and then 30 steps forward.....
It's day three. And I'm down 2 pounds. And I'm not hungry.
Breakfast: Spinach/Banana Smoothie
Lunch: Leftover Quinoa Pasta and Cauliflower
Dinner: Chickpea Salad Sandwich, and Spinach Salad
Exercise: Only had time for 1 10 minute session first thing in the AM.
Thoughts on being mindful: I find myself, throughout the day rushing from one task to another. Quickly hurrying between little jobs, be them household, or conversations with my wife, or even at work. Slow down. For me i, have to slow WAAAAY down.
Day 2
It was a great night's sleep. Could that be possible after only one full day? Healthy, gluten free, vegan eating (with one cheat), and 2 10 minute Yoga Sessions? Really? Is it that simple?
Upon waking naturally at 6, I immediately did a quick breathing session -http://youtu.be/QJ-5YzBZdrI, and began my morning. Yes it was sunday, so not the usual hectic am run-around of a weekday, but something was different.
Can it be working? I'll keep you posted.
Spinach. Heirloom tomatoes. Fire escape basil. Lime. Olive oil. Sea salt.
And this was lunch.

Thank you Tara Stiles
Technically I am on my second day, but It's been less than 24 hours since I've started.
It's 6:30 in the morning, and I've just finished my 2nd Yoga Routine http://youtu.be/QJ-5YzBZdrI
Soon my little one will be up, and my day's pace will increase until at it's apex, I'm exhausted, and ready for bed, which usually comes in the late morning.
I'm 43.
I'm at least 60# overweight.
I lose my breath going up stairs.
And I've had enough.
Yesterday, while at an open house, and listening to the Adam Carolla Podcast, he spoke about headstands. I've never been able to do a headstand, and this guy is older than me, not practicing Yoga, and able to do them.
So I did what everyone does, and I began to look for a podcast about Yoga. Something I could listen to on my schedule.
A long time ago, I was a practitioner of Yoga. twice a week, during my lunch break with Tabita. I loved it, and was sad when she moved to Hawaii. No other teacher did it the way she did.
I've looked for Yoga on the web before, but always been disappointed. Until I found you TS.
So I downloaded your podcast, and watched a few.
I began to explore more, did a few searches and came up with your Youtube channel and Tumblr.
I was inspired. You INSPIRED me. Right then and there, I took off my corduroy sport coat, kicked off my loafers, and performed one of your beginner vinyasa. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PgIfOOHwH8
Right there in the spare bedroom during my open house.
How strange a fat man in slacks, socks, and a button down must have looked doing yoga.
It was the first time I had moved in 10 years. Sure, I had to do some shortcuts. Plank Position was challenging impossible. But the session was short, and do-able. So I finished.
Immediately I felt energized. I felt taller. I think I was even smiling.
Thank you TS.
