still canāt believe that in 1994 there was a movie where tom cruise and brad pitt were a gay couple constantly on the verge of divorce and cruise decides that adopting a child will save their marriage so they raise kirsten dunst together until she sets cruise on fire so they separate and she and pitt travel europe for a while before her death and then pitt and cruise both separately complain about their marriage to a journalist played by christian slater like heās their therapist and it was one of the highest grossing films of that year
i've had several retail and food service jobs and they were all so much harder than whatever i'm doing in this office right now. it honestly feels like cheating. service industry workers should be paid $100 per hour with full benefits including the right to kill one customer per year
Writing about a child rapist did not make Vladimir Nabokov a child rapist.
Writing about an authoritarian theocracy did not make Margaret Atwood an authoritarian theocrat.
Writing about adultery did not make Leo Tolstoy an adulterer.
Writing about a ghost did not make Toni Morrison a ghost.
Writing about a murderer did not make Fyodor Dostoevsky a murderer.
Writing about a teenage addict did not make Isabel Allende a teenage addict.
Writing about dragons and ice zombies did not make George R.R. Martin either of those things.
Writing about rich heiresses, socially awkward bachelors, and cougar widows did not make Jane Austen any of those things.
Writing about people who can control earthquakes did not make N.K. Jemisin able to control earthquakes.
Writing about your favorite characters and/or ships in situations that you choose does not make you a bad person.
Itās a shame that in this day and age these things need to be said.
Or, in short: the narrator =/ the author.
You know what else is a shame? This nowadays tendency of putting on the author the responsibility of teaching their readers morality.
Authors are allowed to write morally ambiguous characters.
Authors are allowed to write downright despicable characters - and guess what they are even allowed to make despicable characters charismatic and likeble and the protagonists of their stories if they wish - because absolute monsters exist only under the bed.
It is not up to the author to spoonfeed the readers about morality and Yes I know this character did a bad thing and I am going going to show it in the story and make other characters call them out of it andā Bullshit.
The authors should be able to write what they want without having thousands of people jumping and their throats claiming to know them, their ideas and their morality based on what they write.
Itās not up to the author to teach you about what is right and what is wrong.
Itās not up to the author to teach you about what is right and what is wrong.
The tags speak the truth.
remember when i cited a study of kids that found they were more afraid of becoming fat than of cancer or nuclear war and people were likeĀ āthatās bc they canāt conceive of cancer or nuclear warā which is offensive to kids, first of all, like, have you met an 11 year old?? but in the study biltekoff is referring to they found kids to be more afraid of fatness than losing an arm, a fact for which that āāāalternative explanationāāā doesnāt stand a chance
kids are terrified of becoming fat bc they see the social consequences, and thatās it

Baby boomers: why donāt millennials just work 2 jobs?
Minimum wage jobs: ok so we need at least 4 full days of availability, must work holidays, canāt request a set schedule, must work weekends, and you will never know what day or what time you are gonna work until the schedule comes out :)
Spooky season is here
