Aphrodite is the greek goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, fertility, procreation, and more!
Aphrodite was born from seafoam (if you would like to know more about her birth I recommend looking into it. It gets quite graphic!) She lived in the ocean for quite a while and had a lover named Nerites. Nerites impregnated Aphrodite and as it was time for Aphrodite to leave the ocean she came ashore and gave birth to two of her sons Himeros (sexual desire) and Pothos (sexual yearning). Her sons accompanied her meanwhile Nerites wanted to stay in the ocean. When she arose from the ocean and came ashore in Cyprus, Aphrodite caused flowers and grass to grow wherever she went. This led to her being garlanded and crowned by the Horai. Aphrodite had many gifts and among them is the golden girdle, which enhanced her love, beauty, and sex! Depending on where you hear stories of Aphrodite you may hear different names and attributes! Once Aphrodite had first felt the unquenchable loss of love she had taken on a new attribute and name; Areia, other known as the war goddess. Areia wields armor, shield, and labrys or spear. Although Aphrodite is often depicted as a very loving and beautiful goddess, love isn't always happy and neither is Aphrodite. This is why later on Aphrodite and Ares get along quite well.
Aphrodite is described to be a young woman who is every young woman yet none at the same time. The most famous imagery of Aphrodite is The birth of Venus by Botticelli which shows her rising from the sea in a cockle shell, surrounded by her two sons (Himeros and Pothos), the waves, and the Horai.
Colors: Red, pink, white, seafoam green, and teal
Incense and essential oils: Rose, Vanilla, Frankincense, Myrrh, Cinnamon, Jasmine, and Ginger.
Gems and stones: Rose quarts, Diamonds, Aquamarine, Sapphire, Pearl, and Garnet.
Doves, Geese, Bees, Cats, The Ocean, Mirrors, Shells, Perfumes, Makeup, Roses, Wine, Honey, Dolphins, Apples, Cats, and Hares
Dress up! Dress up in clothes that make you feel like the badass you are
Indulge in romance! Romance movies, books, podcasts, etc.
Plant flowers that attract bees! (roses are great!)
Use honey as a sweetener for tea and other drinks instead of sugar!
Spend time at the beach! If you're feeling so inclined I would recommend picking up some of the trash left behind by others!
Take care of yourself!! Self-love is just as important as loving others if not more!
Tidy your room or space a bit!
Share your experiences with her! start a blog or social media just talking about her! This is a fun way to teach others and keep everything you learn in one place!
Talk to her! Whether that's a candle or a statue dedicated to her just talk to her, tell her stories that happened to you! This is a great way to grow your connection with her!
If you're at the legal drinking age where you live, share a cup of wine with her!
Show love to your friends, family, pets, and the world around you!
If you are so inclined, sexually please yourself! This could be with someone or by yourself! Just be safe! She is the goddess of pleasure!
Take beauty naps! Or even full beauty rests!
Meditate and try to feel her energies! Maybe even hear her voice! How does she feel to you? What does her voice sound like? You can journal this!
Listen to music that makes you feel good!
Try putting on some makeup! You can include glamour magick to it as well!
Eat sweet treats you enjoy!
