âThat depends on the journey and you make of it.â Hatter points out
âItâs not always quite that easy, but itâs a fair statement.â
mxdxsxhxtterrâ:
Hatter took it and went to ring him up. He isnât realllyyyyyy a cashierâŚbut it just is this one time right? Besides no one is there.  âOh yes ! The adventure of life is going out of your zone and into a new zoneâ He hopped over the counter
Carl couldnât help but smile at the otherâs enthusiasm, far more reserved himself.  âThatâs a fair assessment, though hopefully most of those adventures are good ones.â
mxdxsxhxtterrâ:
âIt certainly is yesâ He grinned.  âOh yes of course !â He pulls some down and hands it to him.  âAny other flavors to appease the taste buds ?âÂ
Carl smiled at the man as he pulled out the tea and handed it to him, shaking his head. âNot today, maybe another time? Iâll definitely come back, I enjoy trying new things now and again.â
ofcscavengcrsâ:
.・.:*â They walked until reaching the diner that would sell the milkshakes, and it gave Nina time to think about the question.
âI would really like to go onto a funfair again?â She then mused. âWas only there once, with someone from school, but that was before theyâŚ. decided I was a freak. I also would love to watch a movie in a drive-in cinema, and drink so many slushies that I get a brain-freeze?!?â
Carl was fine walking in silence, watching the road ahead while also studying her occasionally. It wasnât long before they were there, the young man holding the door open for her. Â
âFairâs are pretty awesome. Hopefully weâll have another one here soon! Decided you were a freak? People are assholes.â Carl huffed before thinking about the other options.  âSo much slushie you get a brainfreeze is definitely something you can do. Not sure about the drive in..â Heâd have to figure that one out for her.

Sophia smiled softly, beyond pleased to see somebody sheâd considered a best friend in her worst times. Her face fell, eyes wide at his words. âCarl⌠I-Iâm so sorry.â She whispered and gave his arms a squeeze. âNobody deserves to turn⌠Itâs truly horrible.â Sophia grimaced as she remembered when she became a walker. âHow⌠How was my mother after IâŚâ She trailed off with a wince, not sure if she really wanted the answer or not. âFive years and we havenât bumped into one another? Wow, horrible timing!â
âItâs okay. Itâs been a few years.â Carl gave her a slight smile back, not wanting to make her any sadder.  âIf it helps, I never made it to the turn. I got to say my goodbyes then...well.â His jaw flexed, having to end his own life the hardest thing heâd ever had to do.  âIâm sorry you had to. That was...fuck that was awful.â At the mention of Carol he nodded a little, answering quietly. âIt...She was bad at first, from what I remember. But Daryl helped her I think, and everybody else..she was still alive when I died. Life was hard, but she was strong Soph. She kept an eye on me when she could, and I looked after her, in my kid way.â He chuckled a little before looking at her seriously. âShe was okay though. She didnât ever give up.â Carl nodded again, the memories making him miss his dad even more but he refocused and laughed. âIâm not entirely surprised! We both look so different! Weâre a lot cleaner, and we donât walk around openly carrying weapons. I donât know if Iâd even recognize my dad here, looking normal.â
imperfectmusesâ:
âOh wow. No, that is a miracle. How did that even happen?â She asked. âLike, that just sounds horrible.â
âThe world I lived in was a rough one. I ended up dead there too, but here I am.â Carl smiled a little and shrugged.  âLife is just weird sometimes I guess.â
mxdxsxhxtterrâ:
âMy friends donât sometimes either. Though you should hear the March Hare now will he ramble and get distractedâ He said.  âIâm glad you like it ! The taste is something isnât it ?â Â
âCertainly sounds interesting.â Carl smiled softly at the man and nodded.  âIt really is! Thank you. Can I buy some of it to brew at home?â
ofcscavengcrsâ:
.・.:*â âWell, mean, it will for sure be easier to stay in touch this wayâŚ.â Nina still blushed heavily as she took the phone to add her number under her name. âAnd now, we could go and get those milkshakes, maybe?âÂ
Carl smiled brightly, having not really..ever, asked a girl for her number before. Thereâd been a few one night stands, but nothing memorable. This felt normal and...good.  âYes! I mean, sure, that would be great.â He blushed, knowing his enthusiasm was ridiculous.  âSo, what do you like doing for fun?â
misfittcysâ:
Sophia let out a soft chuckle, shaking her head. âNope, neither of us are children any more.â She admitted before pulling away but keeping her hands on his arm, still needing the contact. It had been so long since she had seen Carl, she had to make sure it was real. âBoth eyes? What are you talking about? What happened to you?â She sighed a little at the question. âTwelve years. I appeared here after I died. Grew up here, I suppose. Itâs been pretty lonely, I wonât lie. How about you?â She let her hands fall now.
Carl happily accepted the contact, his hands turning to hold her arms in return. Of all the people heâd see here heâd never expected Sophia.  âI, uh..sort of got shot in the eye and lost one. Then a few years later I got bitten.  It didnât end great for me, but our families were somewhat safe. They pulled through.â Carl smiled a little, shrugging at his story before looking at her with surprise. âTwelve years? Thatâs crazy! But Iâm glad you got to have a safer life, albeit a lonely one. Iâve been here about...five years now?â
misfittcysâ:
Sophia let out an almost choked laugh, tearing up as she wrapped her arms around him. She had been alone for so long here and now some of the most important people to her were appearing. âIâve missed you too, Carl. Iâm so glad that you are here. You look so different. A good different.â She assured with a sniffle, screwing her eyes shut to stop the tears.
Carl clutched her tight to his chest, feeling her heart beat against his and knowing this was real. Somehow Sophia was getting another life here too, and Carl couldnât have been happier.  âI...damn itâs been a long time. Youâre definitely not a kid anymore!â He laughed, tears glistening in his eyes as he pulled back to look at her.  âIâve got both eyes here, so, thatâs great. Oh, though you wouldnât have known that...it really has been a long time. How are you?! How long have you been here?!â
ofcscavengcrsâ:
.・.:*â âOhâŚ.â Nina blushed, beaming at the idea. âI would really like that! To see you again. I, uhm⌠I do have a phone now. Nothing fancy, but it does work. Would you like to get my number, maybe, just in case?â
âReally? I, great!â Carl blushed too, glad the woman had liked him. It wasnât often he randomly spoke to strangers, but she was fantastic.  âI would! Thatâd be great.â He pulled his own phone out, going to create a new contact before offering it to her to put her number in.
misfittcysâ:
@thatcarl-grimesâ ( sophia for carl )
âHello, old friend.â Sophia started with a teasing tone as she walked towards him. Sheâd heard that Carl was in town and honestly⌠She needed to see him. It had been far too long since she had seen her friend. âI uh, I know this is gonna be weird. Mom found it hard to swallow too but uh, Iâm Sophia.â
Carl turned at the words, focusing on the young woman though he didnât recognize her. There was something familiar, but he couldnât put a finger on it until she finished talking, staring at her a moment before grinning. âSophia?! Really?! Thatâs amazing! Hi!â He didnât hesitate, stepping in closer and hugging her tightly. âI missed you so much. I canât believe youâre here!!!â
mxdxsxhxtterrâ:
Everyone looks at Hatter like heâs crazy so at this point he just ignores it.   âPeach of courseâ He said and brought it down.  âOh no ! I have it every day because tea time has no idea on Time himselfâ He said and went to let him sample the tea Â
âI...alright.â Carl chuckled and shook his head. âNot sure I understood...any of that. But, thank you.â Taking the tea sample carefully, he tasted it and smiled a little. âThatâs actually really good.â
imperfectmusesâ:
âThey are always horrible! Thatâs why. Nothing ever goes how you want it when a miracle happens.â
âThat sounds more like a fairytale wish.  I mean, I got shot in the face once and didnât die, just lost my eye, and that felt like a miracle.â

âNo not that teaâ Hatter said, voice rising just a bit as he makes a face.  âThat oneâs rubbish. Makes the tummy go no way. You need a MachuâŚwait for itâŚwait for itâŚMachu Peach-u white tea!â He laughed a bit.  âPunny and deliciousâÂ
Carl looked at the man a bit like he was a lunatic, but also knew nothing about tea, so maybe he was right.  âI uh, sure. I can try the...peach one? I canât say I have tea all that often.â
ofcscavengcrsâ:
.・.:*â âHm,â Nina nodded in agreement. âHas yourâŚ. mother been that strict, as well?â It was something she could still not understand, even now. At least, after everything, Nina was free to decide and do what she wanted now. âAnd, you would bring me some? Oh⌠why?â
âOh, well...no. My world was pretty much a post-apocalyptic wasteland and it was all we could do to survive. There werenât a lot of comforts or, really anything left.â Carl nodded, before giving her a shy smile and blushing.  âCause, I uh...Iâll want an excuse to come see you again.â
ofcscavengcrsâ:
.・.:*â âStrawberry, actually,â Nina replied with a shy smile on her lips. âChocolate is not bad either, of course but - here I do preder cupcakes, I think?â
âCupcakes? Thatâs a pretty fair option. Admittedly ice cream is my favorite, but mostly because I couldnât get it before. Iâll have to remember..cupcakes. Thereâs a place not too far off, Iâll have to bring you some sometime.â
