Hey Friends! How excited are you that exams are finally over and that Christmas 🎄 is just around the corner?! I know I am! 😉 During this season of giving, I wanted to do my part, and am organising a hand lettering workshop to share with you all my passion for watercolour calligraphy!📝 The workshop will cover the basics of calligraphy and hand lettering, and you will walk away with your very own framed quote🖼 or holiday card. No experience is necessary, just come with an open and positive attitude and the rest will happen :) 😝 Since supplies are quite expensive, I have managed find the perfect set (brushes🖌, paper📝, ink) which will cost $20 and will be yours to keep! Follow my Instagram @nicehaircut or Tumblr @thatcutecalligrapher to see some of the work I have done and to get inspired before the day of the event. 🎨 Details of the workshop are as follows: Date: 17 December 2016 Time: 2-4 pm Venue: 797 North Bridge Road, Level 2, 198765 How to get there: By MRT: Alight at Lavender, exit from the right Things to bring: Yourself and your creativity! Hey there! I will be having a calligraphy workshop in December!!🎉🎉 This workshop is targeted at complete beginners or those who want to make Christmas wall decorations🎄 And most exciting part of all, it is a super super affordable workshop with a small class size because I want to be able to help each participants individually!! Do keep track of my posts or just message me for more info. 😊
Sometimes you can do a little variation or design to your art work and it become awesome!!!!
These are my personal favorite photos of the sky ❤️ Lovely weather always make people feel refreshed 💚
Love this photo soooo much!!! Just lettering simple letters, everyday practice is essential. I have also made the sides of the paper stained (can't tell from this pic haha) and it turned out to be super good!!! If you are giving a calligraphy work to your friend, try dipping the sides of the paper into the ink, it will make it look much more 'professional' 😝
Found this nice nice plant to put my work on top, looks pretty cute 😉
this was the first mural that I have done for my school! it was the first time doing such a big piece and the first time that I am doing chalk calligraphy. It was definitely fun to design it and I have learnt so much from it!!
This is the work that I used to win a school competition. The prize was a box of chocolate!!! Love it so much, both the chocolate and this piece of work❤️
Just thought that I could share some of the amazing amazing photos that I have taken with my phone. My friend always says that I take nice pictures and I have helped my friend to take her graduation photo when she graduated. So this photo was taken a few weeks ago. In a city with summer all year round, you couldn't ask for more. The flowers are amazing! And you can literally find them everywhere. It's a pleasure to scroll down my photo gallery and look at all the nice photos that I have got. Hope you can enjoy these photos as I do.
Take my hand, I will lead you to salvation. This is the lyrics from Les miserables my favorite musical by far, and because of it, I have started singing and discovered that I have a huge range!!! The watercolor part, I just blended everything together and used my fav three color combination that I have been using for a while. I wet the side of the paper with water and just used my colors casually, and it turned out great!
Constantly being brain-washed by musicals (in a good way).
Humming them everywhere I go.
This is a handmade watercolour bookmark. I loved it a lot!!!! I have made a series of it and for this one, I named it BLOSSOM, because it is the only tree with flowers on it! I love how the colour of the branches blends together in this piece, and how the different shades of leaves make it more lively.
For this, I used both a size 2 round watercolour brush for the branches and a refillable watercolour brush for the leaves - these are super good in filling up the details but it is quite hard to control the amount of water coming out :)
I have looked through many works of other people to come out with my own styled ink-blending works. So, here is a simple simple tip of how to make your blending look natural: Start with the darker colour and add in lighter colour. Here I started with red and purple, then I went backwards according to the rainbow colours. Always end with the lightest colour (yellow), but not make it too light- it will affect the balance of your whole piece.
And most-importantly, when I first started, the colours always does not want to blend with one another. Then I found out that you actually need to add the other letter before the ink dries. This might sounds silly, but it was really what I struggled with when I first started.
Happy practicing everyone ;)
My project at school.
It was really nice staying back after school to finish this piece. Enjoyed it a lot.
