July 19, 1954:

Elvis Presley’s first single was released, the songs being “That’s All Right” and “Blue Moon of Kentucky.”

Only about 7,000 original copies were pressed, but the disc became a local hit in Memphis, Tennessee.

After the session, Bill Black was said to have remarked, “Damn. Get that on the radio and they’ll run us out of town.”

On July 8th 1960 , Elvis took his new 16 foot speedboat out on McKellar Lake in Memphis. He had bought the powder blue boat for $2000 the previous day.

January 15, 1955:

Elvis performed at the Louisiana Hayride at the Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport, Louisiana. Elvis wore a rust-colored suit, black-dotted purple tie, and pink socks. He performed “Hearts Of Stone,” “That’s All Right,” and “Tweedle Dee.”

Colonel Parker and Tom Diskin arrived in Shreveport, and this was almost certainly the first time either of them saw Elvis perform. The Colonel took steps to forge a link with Bob Neal after the show.

maybe everyone but me knew that there is a recording of this ENTIRE concert and it’s incredible!

Elvis is just as goofy with the jokes and changing lyrics and laughing while he’s singing as he is later in his career 🤣

And the fans!!!! They are absolutely roaring their joy

Listening to it felt like the closest I’ll ever get to being at an early Elvis concert until we get that damn time machine

Given that it’s from 60 years ago and was not a professional recording it’s amazing how well you can hear him

June 28, 1957 - Elvis Presley makes a brief appearance on stage with Danny Thomas at "Thomas' Shower of Stars," a charity show for St. Jude's Hospital held at Russwood Park in Memphis. Also present at the show are film stars Jane Russell and Susan Hayward, country singer Ferlin Husky, pop singer Roberta Sherwood, and comedian Lou Costello.
