CHOICES
Every single day one is faced with the challenge making a choice.
The choices that we have to make on a daily basis can range from what shoes to wear, which outfits best suits today’s weather and what to eat.
However on some days, the choices are not that easy, they definitely have long life consequences that you will have to deal with for the rest of your life. These choices range from what career path to take, where to study, life partners, where to live and so on. No matter what decision or choice you make, you need to realise that it is one that you have to live with for the rest of your life. In some cases, one is blessed with the opportunity to make the same choice twice. But sometimes, if not most of the time, that one decision you make, you have to stick to it.
Lately I have been at war with not only myself but even those around me. I have had to look deep within, find out what is it that I really want and am I willing to take the risk of being lonely and losing friends just so that I can do that which I know very well will bring me the most genuine kind of happiness. Sometimes one has to be selfish. For instance, how do I make someone else happy if I myself am not happy? How do I love you, if I do not even love myself? I had to sit down and remind myself that in life, not everyone will be happy with the decisions that you make, but it is not about them, it is about you.
It is about what you have been predestined for. It is about what you have been set apart for. It is about what you have to do regardless of the obstacles and challenges that you will come across. It is about you being shaped, molded, broken and built up again. It is about shutting your ears to the voices of fear and unleashing hope. The kind of hope where insecurities may be there, but there is a feeling deep within that overcomes those insecurities and hopes for the best. Hope is knowing that yes I may not be able to see nor touch it today but if I continue on this, tomorrow I will be where I need to be.
I have come to realise that if you are going to change your paths because there are obstacles on the way, or people who try to dictate to you how things ought to be. You will never reach your destiny. You will find yourself roaming around the same spot in different directions and making no progress. At times, one really needs to listen to the voice within that very silent voice that says “Go on, you will make it, don’t undermine yourself”.
