Hi! well since you are new it will be hard at first for your posts to get likes or people seeing them because you don’t have followers, I recommend following blogs which have content you like and establishing a community in that sense, some may follow u back, hashtags are VERY important to segment your content so people who are looking for that kind of stuff can find it easily! It works as any other social network really, but I understand it can be a little bit overwhelming at first. Also sometimes even if you follow people, tag your posts and everything you still don’t have the engagement you want... but don’t give up, it’s luck sometimes, I didn’t have a big following base or anything really but once a post I made blew up from one day to another and thanks to that I got more engagement... I think it’s also important finding things you and people like, and building your blog around that to create a base of followers who will seek to see more of that content.
