The Duke of Sussex, joined artists, philanthropists, and supporters at the Ki Smith Gallery for an exclusive VIP reception launching the “Friend” exhibition to benefit Sentebale. The exhibition features works by legends like Frank Stella, Bridget Riley, and Tadaaki Kuwayama, alongside emerging talents whose art reflects themes of resilience, hope, and community, values shared by the young people Sentebale serves. The proceeds from all sales of the artwork will directly benefit Sentebale, supporting its life-changing programs that address healthcare, education, and vocational training for young people living with HIV/AIDS in Lesotho and Botswana. ⁣Prince Harry shared heartfelt remarks about the exhibition, the inspiration behind it, and the vital work of Sentebale. The name of the exhibition, Friend, was personally chosen by Ki Smith in honor of his late grandfather, who was affectionately called “Friend” by his grandchildren. For Prince Harry, the title also embodies the spirit of friendship that is central to Sentebale’s work, as well as the broader goal of fostering connection across cultures and communities.⁣

The Duchess of Sussex hosted a heartfelt dinner for Afghanistan women resettling in the US through Archewell’s Welcome Project. The organization has evacuated and resettled over 2,000 Afghanistan women leaders, aligning its mission with Archewell’s efforts to create long-term support systems.

The evening included a shared meal that encouraged open conversation centered on gratitude and resilience. The Duchess expressed her deep appreciation to the attendees for sharing their personal stories and cultural experiences, underscoring her excitement for future gatherings that continue to strengthen these connections.

The Duke of Sussex visited the Musqueam Indian Reserve in Vancouver, where he was warmly welcomed by Chief Wayne Sparrow to the Little House, a sacred space where family and community gather. The Little House is owned by the Grant Family including Howard E. Grant, Howard J. Grant and Alfreda Grant who helped welcome The Duke with a warm fire. Howard E. Grant explained that there is a nail outside where everyone is asked to leave negative thoughts behind, and only speak of the positive.

During the visit, The Duke reconnected with Chief Dean Nelson, Lil’Wat Nation, Chief Jen Thomas, Tsleil-Waututh Nation and Wilson Williams, Spokesperson, Squamish Nation. He was also introduced to young people from all Four Host Nations, who shared their cultures, values and vision for the future. This personal connection provided a meaningful context for The Duke to further engage in dialogue with the Host Nations and better understand their experiences and perspectives as he continues his work with the Invictus Games. At Seaforth Armoury in Vancouver, Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex spent time with students, veterans and IG25 competitors as part of a school-based initiative designed to shift perceptions of service members, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.

The event showcased a comprehensive set of lesson plans, which will be made available online to school districts across the country. These lessons, tailored for elementary, middle, and high school students, are centered around the themes of recovery, resilience, and the incredible journey of those who participate in the Invictus Games.

During the event, students from 8 to 18 participated in hands-on activities designed to engage students in discussions about the Invictus Games and the importance of perseverance and mental health. The Duke of Sussex spent time with each class, engaging with the students and listening to their thoughts as they learned about the transformative power of sport and community. Following the classroom sessions, The Duke addressed the students, teachers, and participants with a few heartfelt remarks, emphasizing the connection between the lessons they had just learned and the journey of recovery that so many Invictus athletes embody.

In a moment of true excitement, the students were then surprised with a special announcement: they would each receive tickets for themselves and a family member to attend the Invictus Games 2025 Opening Ceremonies – a gesture that not only celebrated their participation but also gave them the opportunity to witness firsthand the remarkable spirit of the Games.
