One thing I have noticed within the TADC fandom is just how entitled people feel to know, in blatant wording, that someone is trans. Especially someone who has trauma with coming out.
This mostly seems to come from cis fans, but there are definitely trans fans that do this too.
So here's something for you: Trans people, whether you are cis or trans, do NOT owe you a coming out. They do NOT owe you the words "I am trans."
If a trans person does not feel coming out blatantly, and prefers to be subtle about it, prefer to be some level stealth (even pre-transition and presenting a way they don't identify as), that does not diminish their trans identity. That does not mean they stop being trans.
What's more irritating is none of you seem to want to actually look at the signs and hide behind willful ignorance, even after trans people tell you "Oh here's the layers of evidence for Trans Jax".
Zooble saying they thought Jax would be into the maid outfit (common among closeted trans people, mostly transfems, but transmascs are not exempt).
The "Egg" comment before telling Pomni to stop prying (Jax does not owe Pomni a coming out, especially when Jax is clearly traumatized from coming out).
Jax being the only one to not wear a bathing suit and hiding away in the beach episode (common sign of gender dysphoria).
The envy she displays about Zooble being openly nonbinary (specifically being envious of Zooble being able to "change their body")
Jax nearly abstracting and her eyes being the colors of the trans flag (this one is just blatant).
Jax's room being a reflection of her inner desires, a very traditionally "feminine" room (Caine has modeled their rooms after their hopes and dreams, this is confirmed canon, which also appears to have Transfem colors).
The way Jax keeps her "feminine" room hidden from everyone
Jax covering her chest and crotch in Caine's torment (most typically the "feminine" way to cover one's self when exposed) and her body looking like an egg yolk (callback to the egg comment).
Another detail is how the torture scene resembles the trauma of her coming out to her mother too (with the two female characters being the one "tearing" into her and laughing).
"I told her something I regret telling her. Something deep and personal that I thought would get her off my back. But... she... laughed at me. Then she went off on me. And-- And it didn't stop. Personal, degrading insults that felt like it went on forever."
And then the entirety of episode 9.
Jax's internal thoughts, including the maid outfit, hiding who she truly was behind locks and keys. The opening of that final door. A door that's placed. Similarly to a closet.
"How did you get in here? We have a strict 'No Girls Allowed policy'."
The SHUT UP at the locked door rattling (likely her transfem identity locked away, hence why everyone got mad at it)
Even down to the pink lampost (traditionally "feminine" color") when Pomni encounters Jax.
And of course, Isn't She Lovely playing over her last moments, praising the coming out of a brand new girl, but mourning the person she never got to be.
Pomni flinching every time Ragatha, Kinger, and Zooble use He/Him for Jax after her encounter.
Also, can we talk about the key motif that's been there since episode one?
Feels very "Locking her true self away to avoid getting hurt."
But yes, there were plenty of hints about Trans Jax. And it is really weird how so many people seem to demand her coming out "properly" (which, even if she was a real person, she doesn't owe anyone her coming out). If a trans person skirts around their identity, it's probably not something to do with you. Don't fucking PRY for a trans person to come out.
A trans person is still trans, even if they never "properly" come out to you or blatantly say they're trans.
ESPECIALLY considering Jax is based off of an ACTUAL REAL trans woman's experiences before her transition. An actual, real trans person who acknowledges she has hurt people, done things she is not proud of, and has tried to lay that part to rest.
Deification of trans women is still objectification. Trans women are human and deserve to be treated as such.
People who are pre-transition, or even those who never transition (for any reason, be it medical or personal choice) deserve representation. Even the bad side of representation. Because the bad side can point out things they're ignoring. And show that it's okay to accept yourself. And you don't have to justify it to anyone else.
Trans people, good and bad, pre-transition or never transitioning, those who stealth and don't talk about it, those who are non-passing, deserve representation. They are still valid trans people.
We can have more than mid-transition trans people that pass and wear a pin to signify they're trans as representation. Every trans person deserves to be represented.
